  • Former PGA Tour Winner Jason Gore was gracious enough to allow me to film his SIM 2 Driver fitting at The Kingdom Carlsbad CA.
Living at mid 160 MPH Ball Speed, hitting 300 yard total drives on demand he demonstrates the consistency top players bring to the table when searching for the optimum ball flight.
Bouncing between a Fuji Ventus Black & Blue Model we talk in detail about the desired " WINDOW " to create endless " HIGH BOMBS "
Huge thank you to Jason for allowing the camera to roll, sit back, SUBSCRIBE n enjoy.....

Many thanks that was really interesting and demonstrated the range of skills need to Fit players at the Pro level, part coach, part caddie, part mind coach and part diplomat with a touch of tough love thrown in for results.
Oh, and all the tech knowledge to actually fit the player, with what he needs rather than what he likes!

That was an absolute gem need more of them plus the fact you said he could use two different shaft. soft for days he isn’t feeling it was magic
With today’s average player they should look at different possibly softer shafts that gains them launch and distance

Yo Trott - Great video bud! Gore is reluctant to modernize his driver. Reminds of Tiger, of old. They are the same generation, after all. The lower spin balls and heads have changed everything, so have to change with the times or else you're just giving your competitors free strokes on the first tee.

Completely agree with the mental visual apex height issue from days gone by.
Back in the day I always struggled with too much height off the driver, which was coupled with lots of spin.
Coming back to the game 20 years later I was trying to get an apex of around 100ft, but didn't appreciate with new tech you can flight at 120-30 with a spin profile that won't compromise, even into wind.

      less loft (lower) = open

Big fan of Jason Gore. Hope to see him on TV playing great golf. I am getting fit on Sunday for a SIM 2 driver. I will be hitting range balls outside. Should I hit 3-5 good balls to insure the driver is giving me the right spin? I play a grip that weighs 57 grams. Should I be concerned with the grip that I am using during the demo if it is lighter? This was a great video! Thanks!

What confused me a little bit about this fitting, was the landing angle. You've talked about wanting to see this type of speed at about a 38* land angle. That's where Jason was when his spin was down closer to 2000, with the higher launch angle you want to see him with. When his spin got into the mid 2000's his land angle was about 42*

    • @trottiegolf

    • @trottiegolf

Sometimes they one calibrated to the clubhead and the other studying the ball numbers, other times it's a comparison. Old school flight....he would see the benefit of that period of discomfort required to get a more Rory-like flight.

Trottie or anyone who has the knowledge to help i'm looking at getting a new driver probably sitting around 113 swing speed and high 160s ball speed on average, load early in my downswing any recommendations on flex and shaft brand to try so much out there it confuses me at the best of times

X Flex, Ventus Black not a bad place to start & if it feels to stiff then back off to Ventus Blue or find other manufacturer equivalents

Whats a good dynamic loft for a 7 iron?

    • @wallstreetoneil
      @wallstreetoneil Před 3 lety

34-degree 7-iron with 10-degrees forward shaft lean but with 3 degrees forward shaft deflection at impact equals 27-degrees. Hitting down on ball by 3-degrees = 24-degrees - down by 5-degrees = 22-degrees. The launch will be pulled down another 5-degrees by the friction of the face on the ball so launch = 17-19 degrees. I made this all up but it's basically correct. Pro-impact with short irons is 10-15 degrees forward shaft lean & 2-6 degrees down. Forward shaft deflection at impact is a complete guess but it's ballpark for sure. Friction is a complete guess but it's my approximation looking at launch monitors. I stand to be corrected on any or all of the above - but taken all together, you will end up in a similar spot. I play a 32-degree 7-iron, launch 19-20, 120 ball-speed, 6000 spin - put that in an online launch monitor and I get my 170-175 carry range - so it all jells
