Kerala caters around 3.5 to 4 million migrant workers. The workers come from around 25 states, as it provides the highest daily wages in the country. The people who migrate due to lack of employment, poverty, extreme climatic conditions, find a better living in Kerala. They find the state stable, socially and economically. They are employed in agricultural, non agricultural sectors, factories, construction companies and many of them even run small scale ventures. The longest migration corridor in the country was found in the state where laborers from Dibrugarh in Assam migrate to southern districts of Kerala. Here they explain why they have migrated, why they stay back in the state for many years and what Kerala means to them. Here is their Kerala story.

I am a Pakistani working in uae , most of the Indians hates me for no reason , I have changed lot of rooms for the reason , some of them try to assault me , use bad words
Later I changed my room to another room , I was so feared cause I am 21 years old first time in uae , the contractor said it was also Indian room
My room mates was bunch of malayalees (people from Kerala )
1 is a Muslim and rest 4 of them are Hindus
I was so feared at first day , but they never treated me bad , they always cared me
    Not a single bad word
I always thought every Indian hates me because I am Pakistani
But my whole thought changed instantly after 1 day spending with them
On this day it’s turning 6 years with them
Two of my roommates are having marriage this month ,i really wanted to attend the marriage
Never attended an Hindu marriage before ,
But I pray for them for a happy married life
Happy married life Aneesh and Amar chettan ❤️

Dont just blabber and talk stupidity. Kerala is now reeling with states govts bloody heavy price rises on all sectors, poor economy management while the arrogant commie CM is roaming around with 14 police vehicle escorts and enjoy travelling around the world wasting public money. Kerala is the worst state to live now as majority of youngsters leave kerala after studies seeking P.R and jobs in foreign countries. Keralas lack of industries, job opportunities are forcing youths daily to go outside plus the constant union militancy threat has being forcing new start ups to abandon the state. Everybody agrees that Kerala is awesome because "they are educated' but most of India don't really understand what that means. When we say Keralite are educated, it does not mean we have many degrees. It means that we are an informed society and we have more freedom of speech. Years ago, the good political leaders we had made the wise decision to give literacy to everyone. Ie, equal literacy to everyone irrespective of their social status. That was a success. All of us became literate and it enabled us to inform ourselves on what's happening around us. This literacy and freedom of speech gradually enabled us to "think" more and "ask questions" and express ourselves creatively. We became EMPOWERED and BRAVE because values of TRUTH and honesty was encouraged in our culture.
Do you know that in Kerala our comedians are free to mock politicians on TV? They make joke about any politicians and we all laugh. If you try to do that at North or other states, your house would be burned down but we can do that in Kerala because we are an informed society.
I am not here to brag. I am here to share with my fellow brothers and sisters on what works and what's needed to build our nation. Take the lesson from Kerala - Any society that values truth and honesty WILL develop and equality in literacy and education is the first step towards that progress.

I'm from Thrissur, Kerala and even though there are so many guest workers here, when u compare the numbers to places like perumbavoor , it's relatively lower.
I recently went to perumbavoor(first time there) and was returning back around 3pm. My dad and I were famished, so we went to a bakery/hotel (not of a North Indian cuisine). The seats were completely occupied by people of all kinds- there were guest workers, malayalee families of all classes, youth hanging around in groups... - all eating the same food, talking, laughing. The Muslim guy at the counter asking everyone if they liked the food, smiling, thanking the people.
We went to the local bus stand and I was baffled by the amount of these workers there. Some were with their families buying groceries, clothes, trolleys, school stuff etc. The boards on the buses had names of places written in both Hindi and Malayalam. People were communicating in whatever little Malayalam/Hindi they could knew...
Whatever little racistic/xenophobic thought I had regarding this in my mind died that day!
