      The guy know, like most tv news tryhards he was trying to get one of those way to close up, way too ultra wide lens shots of it happening. A lazy man’s “action”. Unfortunately for him it didn’t pay off and he got decked.

    No really, it's a sousaphone. If you do not know the difference, let me tell you: they are essentially the marching version of a tuba, but the tube structure is much different. They play in the same general range but due to tubing variations will have a subtle difference in sound.
    This is coming from a euphonium player who is constantly having to explain the differences between a euphonium and a baritone horn. These differences are even more minute, but are nevertheless important.

  • @Emi-zk6qk

    Doesn’t matter that he warned him as he was doing the bow, if you’re going to go onto a field with the band playing it’s common sense not to get up in their face. We have a specific drill to follow and we can’t just stop doing it because someone got close.

    I'm in the Gator band, but I love watching the formation of "Script Ohio." That camera man really needed to be around the 15-yard line for two reasons:
    1) So he didn't get his ass handed to him by a nice sousaphone.
    2) So it didn't look like there were two dots on the "I".

    • @ariannap.matthews9140
      @ariannap.matthews9140 Před rokem

      I beg to differ. The more common Tubas have the ability to make it way easier to play lower notes with good quality due to the compensating 4th valve or rotor. Common Sousaphones only go to the 3rd valve, you can still play the same notes, but it may be slightly harder to get a good quality sound on the pedal notes but its still definitely do-able. Unless you have a Tuba that is in a complete different key, one in not going to play lower or higher than the other. Although i do see what you mean though, i do find it easier to play high F's (2 octave higher than a concert f) on my cerveny, i can still do it on my sousa though. Sousaphones and Tubas typically have different stock mouthpieces. Most tubas i buy came with a Helleburg. While most sousaphones come with a b68 basic Yamaha mouthpiece. Over my time playing with the mouthpieces, i find it quite easier to reach higher notes with the Helleberg...so what do i do? I swap the mouthpieces. My helleburg is now on my sousaphone. So now, when i want to play really high or do octave jumps, i can do it with ease.
      Tl;Dr, for me it all comes down to the mouthpiece. The typical sousaphone mouthpiece makes it hard to play high while the Tuba mouthpieces make it easy.
      Also, i love the tuba, and Sousaphone, i just hate when people are like "um, aktually...its a Sousaphone."
      If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, and walks like a duck, then its a duck.
