This is clearly the most emotionally intense video I have watched in years. I live in Seoul, South Korea. To us the stark constrast of the two Koreas at nighttime is quite familiar and nothing surprising. But the picture of Berlin struck me hard, because if Germany, even after 28 years, has a non-existent yet visible border remaining, it just came to me that if Korea is ever reunified, who knows how much time it's going to take to make the north even visible from space. Yet the possibility of peaceful reunification is widely accepted to be nil. The only nation to be divided by ideology decades after the end of the Cold war... how embarrassing and unrightful, but there's nothing we can do about it. We could be much better off divided, but I do wonder if the border will still be there when I die, when my children die, or my grandchildren and further generations will forever accept to live with the border.
Hope someday the world will witness the fall of this wall, too.

I'm from Amritsar, Punjab, India, and have always been felt deeply about the border that was etched in British India, dividing it into three parts, what in the present day forms Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. We speak the same language, wear the same heart on our sleeves, and yet there are two Punjabs in the world. When it's quiet, you can hear the other side from the border. It almost feels futile at times but of course, it is much deeper. Eye opening video. It is overwhelming to watch such contrasts in the world we all form an equal part of.

not only Punjab but Bengal-Bangladesh too, they have almost all things common still they are 2
all because of religion which British made divide into
IN Pakistani Side of Punjab ( 97.21% are Muslims & only 0.2% Sikhs ) while in Indian side of Punjab ( 57.69% are Sikhs , 38.49% Hindus, 1.93% Muslims , 1.26% Christian, 1% Buddhists )
Same is case with Bengal ( Indian side of Bengal has 70.54% Hindus & 27.01% Muslims but Bangladesh side has 89.5% Muslims & 8.5% Hindus )
SO clearly divide is because of Religion ( Muslims Vs Hindus & Muslims Vs Sikhs ) all done by British !

The British did Partition the Indian subcontinent because they were in power and therefore legally they had the authority to do so. However the reason the Partition happened is because of Muslim League who demanded a separate nation based on Islam. The Brits definitely had their share of blame but the actual blame lies on the Muslim League. The Brits just implemented what the League wanted. However this fact is glossed over by Indians and put the entire blame on the Brits.

The northern sky was totally black and nothing was seen, while the southern sky was always bright with lights from various cities. Where I was, soldiers of the two Koreas were confronting each other only a mile apart with a river between them. The fact that there are two completely different worlds on the two sides of the river makes me think a lot.

The Berlin Wall didn't go through Berlin... it went around West Berlin - Berlin itself is several miles inside what used to be East Germany, and West Berlin was basically an enclave surrounded by the Berlin Wall. Really interesting to see the marks are still there in the colour of the street lights! (Look very carefully and you can see the orange lights surround the white lights that were West Berlin!)
I remember watching the news when the Berlin Wall came down; such a powerful moment of history.

That's necessary. There's a lot of cases of weapons and terrorists infiltration in India through LoC from Pakistan. Now, this border has been upgraded to even more secure and advance sodium lights along with sensors to nullify the chance of such activities.

Iam from East Berlin 👍🚧 and the Border “Wall” is still in the head from the people. Some separate between Ossis (East people) and Wessis (West people) Dialect, Cooking, culture and Grocery items are different. Unemployment and lack of business are more in the East part. Escape to the West still exists, in both economic and academic terms. But unification has made incredible progress for both countries, creating security and peace in the heart of Europe.
