    Wow, so proud of you and inspired by you for wanting to expand your knowledge in the world of tech even if that means leaving a position many people want. Keep inspiring others and I wish you the best!

      Thanks for the kind words! Life is too short to be at one company so I’m excited to try out a bunch of new places :)

    excited to see what you do next! for me, i similarly want to join a larger company right out of college for support and mentorship (and stability), but moving on to a smaller company sounds like a great path!

      Yeah I definitely think that’s a good plan! Just a good place to get your career started and once you’re a bit more established you can go somewhere smaller.

    If you want to hustle, definitely going into infrastructure is the right call. Creating CI/CD pipelines, managing docker and kubernetes, and solving deployment problems really gives you a deeper understanding of the underneath processes behind each tech company. BUT it is VERY stressful, so keep that in mind! There's always things to do, and many softwares and processes are outdated, but changing them comes with a myriad of challenges. Joining AWS instead as a SDE might also be a valid option if you want to get that deeper understanding while having a benefit of a big tech company. But obviously nothing beats startups in terms of learning.

    Thanks for sharing. I have some overall goal to get into FAANG. I also had faced some minor toxicity of startup. So, I guess maybe a good medium would be good for building my skills because I also want to think about building some startup after gaining experience.

    this was a very useful video. I'm in a similar boat and having similar thoughts, but my one question is: cant you do #1, #3 while you are at google, since it will give you much better wlb, such as doing a side project of your own or you can ask your manager you want to take on more challenges. I would love to hear your thought process on these!

    a guy I know hated those Google interview questions, and he told me he literally walked out of the room before. But later on, he joined a crappy Android phone testing startup, and later, Google acquired that company and he got acquire-hired into Google. Since that time, he said, the Google interview questions are so reasonable. And then he also told me, he and his coworkers all wanted to leave Google, but it is just for the money. They all just need to wait four years and quit. So finally, after he worked there for 4 years and 1 day, he immediately quit.

      ........GOOGLE is private can censor SO dont use GOOGLE .
      ....... US COURTS upheld the dismissal of a lawsuit against Google and CZcams by Prager University, a conservative nonprofit run by radio talk show host Dennis Prager.
      PragerU claimed that CZcams’s opposition to its political views led it to tag dozens of videos on such topics as abortion, gun rights, Islam and terrorism for its “Restricted Mode” setting, and block third parties from advertising on the videos.
      Writing for the appeals court, however, Circuit Judge Margaret McKeown said CZcams was a private forum despite its “ubiquity” and public accessibility, and hosting videos did not make it a “state actor” for purposes of the First AmendmenT.
      SITES like google,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Bing. Bing is easily one of the biggest Google alternatives online. ......Yahoo. Yahoo is another one of the top sites search engines like Google online. Yahoo has been around for a very long time and has a huge database.
      Ask. Ask, formerly known as AskJeeves, is one of the best sites like Google that is another old timer. ...................Dogpile. Dogpile is similar to Google, yet remains very different. Dogpile will not appeal to everyone, but those who enjoy it, really love making it their best search engine.
      ...........DuckDuckGo. DuckDuckGo is another one of the best private search engines online. This site focuses primarily on keeping you anonymous the entire time.

    In the intros, it’s always “up” at Google or “up” in Silicon Valley…are you aware of these subtle hints of your superiority complex?

    • @YourAverageTechBro
      @YourAverageTechBro  Před 3 lety +5

      Hi there! Thanks for pointing that out, but you’re reading a bit too into it haha. I just say “up” because silicon valley is in northern california and and being a southern california native I always refer to anything about the bay area as “up there in northern california.” I’m really sorry about that it came off as me having a superiority complex but I was referring to silicon valley or anything in the bay area as “up”! My bad
