- The Last Post (Winds of Change) is a new arrangement of the special ceremonial piece, which holds great significance to everyone who has fought for this country, their families, and for Australian citizens.
Developed over two years by First Nations arts company Garrijimanha, the new work is performed by Mark Atkins on didgeridoo and James Morrison on bugle with production by Ricky Bloomfield. ‘The Last Post (Winds of Change)’ represents the unity that existed between First Nation and Australian Diggers on the battlefield, and is a healing acknowledgment to inspire a spirit of unity within communities.
The accompanying film, recorded at dawn on the sails of the Sydney Opera House, highlights the important role art plays in reflecting and celebrating history and creating new traditions and symbols which enable us to understand our past better.

How beautiful and made me feel so proud to be Australian
I was sceptical but, that was one of the most Australian things I've ever heard or seen!
Lest we forget
Magnificent! Thank you to to two wonderful musicians for this incredibly stirring Last Post and to all those who fought and enabled me and now my grandchildren to live full, free and happy lives .
This is the most beautiful last post ever thank you so much
I can't thank both of you brilliant musicians, Chelsy Atkins and the crew who put together the audio and now this stunning video of this moving work of musical art. Thanks to Sydney Opera House for enabling this to happen. This moved me to tears and I have shared it on my FB page. I hope many people watch and appreciate this. Such a wonderful tribute to the fallen, but also a powerful reminder of how wars of any sort take lives through more than death. Deserves to be watched frequently, not just at 11 am this Remembrance Day morning, 11.11.2023.
I Met Mark Atkins today in Tamworth - beautiful man who said he didn't want politics just unity for ALL. A well deserved standing ovation given for this rendition to Honour ALL Australians....❤
So beautiful. Thank you. 🙏
Magnificent. Thank-you Mark and James. Thank-you to the First Nations men and women who served our country. Lest we forget!
I served in Vietnam with a couple of Aboriginal Diggers and they were damn good soldiers who were treated exactly the same as everyone else.
What a fitting tribute to all Australians who've fought and fallen in the fight for freedom. Lest we forget 💜
So beautiful . Haunting and beautiful to be honest. Tears in my eyes as i send this to friends and family everywhere.
Speechless.... Just bloody well moved to tears.
Lest We Forget.
What a fantastic idea! Beautifully played and beautifully videoed. A poignant and fitting tribute.
Amazingly, goosebumpery, tear makingly beautiful. Thank you and lest we forget.
Absolute Gratitude!!! Thankyou again to those who fought for our freedoms that we have today. BIG THANKS to the fellas that helped us commemorate in a very moving way👍🇦🇺
Absolutely beautiful. With so many family members buried by war, I salute you both!

Thank you James and happy birthday 11/11/2023.
Spirit of comradeship … beautifully and haunting like it should be
How incredible, what a wonderful way to pay tribute to all that fought for this country! This needs to the normal at all of our war tributes. Well done!
Superb! ❤
Simply beautiful!❤
Oh My goodness...what a wonderful recognition of the First people that went to protect a land that had been taken from them... I'm not sure that I could have or even would have been so generous of heart. For me, this will be my only version of The Last Post... ❤️❤️❤️
You missed the point, Mark Atkinson seen here plaging the didgeridoo, said he didn't want the politics, just unity for us all.
As a former serviceman of over 50 years, including Vietnam, I was not ready for this. The only suggestion I would have is to have the didgeridoo playing harmony to the Last Post rather than the tune. The drone just shoots tingles up my spine.
Wow! This is so powerful!
Simply brilliant and a much needed gift for a nation increasingly divided. Thank you Mark and Jim for sharing your heartfelt contribution to Remembrance Day.
Stunningly beautiful. Lest we forget.
Very moving! A wonderful performance by the pair.
Haunting HARMONY.... if we do not acknowledge now, then when? Music shows us so powerfully how we can stand alone and still harmonise!! Let us learn!! We still have to rewrite and teach our true history stories across the world and our country, not just the history as written by the victors. We have already taken 100 years+ to get to this point...for our tre unity we must first acknowledge (truly) not because we are required by law etc. Then only can forgiveness happen and unity persist. Let us begin now..we are a land with a HUGE heart and a small population, we can do this!
There is no racism on the battlefield. Your comment is valid however has nothing to do with the last post or Remembrance Day.
All soldiers that serve and have served this country are recognised as ANZAC’s
Please leave the traditions to the military and don’t bring outside politics into it.
No digger wants to hear it
Wow. That was great. Loved it.
This is absolutely beautiful ❤
Well done. This is beautiful, very moving
Spine tingling. Thank you.
Awesome. There really are not enough words to describe this. (For William Alfred Latham who fought at the Western Front in WW1, despite it being illegal to allow his people to enlist.) Sleep well Great Great Granddad.
Lest we forget
I absolutely love this!!
Hauntingly beatuiful
The "Reborn" from Hereditary vibes... real chills❤
Hella proud of you Uncle Mark. Representing culture, and the love we have for one another
Bloody beautiful!!!!
"Lest We Forget" --o--🇭🇲 🇳🇿

💗😇✌
That was beautiful.
Gave me goosebumps
Absolutely sensational
This is beautiful, made me cry
Fantastic
I have tears in my eyes
This is so moving. Now if we can just open the day to also remember those who died in Australia's First Wars😢❤🖤💛
How beautiful - I’m tearing up
This is a prayer to God.
Nice as a once off.
The Last Post represents all fallen soldiers. No matter their race. I’m not against this as a one off, but please don’t destroy the haunting power of the lone bugler by adding more instruments simply for political reasons.
@@SM-ju6dpI hope you went home to a tin shack on the river with no citizenship to be saying that.
The lone bugler is English.
This is Australian!
We fight as one!
Don't spoilt a beautiful post for ideological ( unreasoned) reasons...
Why do you make a post which includes an Aboriginal cultural contribution as being about race? Are you bothered by the didgeridoo or the player?
@@silknfeathers how is this artistic rendition of the last post 'ideological'?
Lest we forget
