I am also female and have carried for over 30 years. I am thankful my state allows open carry, so we don't need a carry permit . They encourage us to protect ourselves our family and property.

Carrying a sidearm when out in public and training with that sidearm along with mental preparedness of the possibility of an active shooter at any given time is a hell of a lot better than just walking through life with blinders on believing that this would never happen to you.
Don't believe me, look at the Greenwood mall shooting in Indiana in July of 2022.
Elisjsha Dickens went to the local mall to do some shopping. Dicken was concealed carrying his Glock 26 subcompact 9mm. As they entered the mall an active shooter started firing. Mr. Dicken drew and fired from 30 yards away scoring 8 out of 10 rounds on the shooter, Douglas Spirman, as he was running towards the public bathrooms all in 15 seconds. I might add that Mr. Dicken has no law enforcement or military training. His knowledge of firing guns is what his grandfather taught him and his time spent at a firing range.
Mechanics law: I'd rather have a tool and not need it, then to need that tool and not have it at the worst possible time.

You can not wait for law enforcement to save you, I've trained female officers in my state firearm use and safety. As a Marine some of the best shots were female Marines. There are some really good instructors traveling around the country putting them on. Also get a group of your friends together and contact one of the instructions and they will come put a class on for you if you have enough people
