6:14 small detail. Everyone except Tackleberry ducks. Tackleberry doesn’t flinch because he’s a gun nut and knows the shotgun already went off and wasn’t reloaded, making it impossible, if not unlikely for another shot to go off.

How to take the fun out of a comedy... two guys have a try

i mean... i dont live in the usa but these 2 do fit the image i have of some of the cops over there. no sense of humour to the point they're not aware of its existence, take everything literal, if its not done in a way to their liking its the wrong way.

I love the debate right up front about revolvers with six shots vs. a Glock with 18. I mean, I can see their point-with a revolver, a cop would have to reload twice in order to shoot an unarmed black man eighteen times in the back

Quite literally *all* you know is news media and social media hysteria and extremism. You don’t know a goddamn thing about the countless men and women who do even more countless good deeds for people all across the country every single day, but barely get any recognition for it because very few media outlets or internet users talk about anything but doom and gloom. This movie was greatly appreciated back in the day in my country(Bulgaria). I was born in the late 80s, but I first saw it in 1993. It was the first movie on my dad's TV channel. He had just started a cable TV company and this movie was used for the test run. Considering that we had 2 TV channels + 1 channel in Russian in certain days that was a big fucking deal

They also nailed all the small details with Tackleberry (like him always knowing when a gun can shoot or not, think appart from the shotgun, there's a scene where he had counted how many shots somebody fired etc.)

6:15 one of my favourite details tackleberry is the only one not to duck cause he knows there isn't a loaded shell in the gun
19:08 Fun fact, the actor who made the gun shooting sounds. He is insane with making any types of sounds, he was in space balls and made the computer noises when the radar became jammed.

Little fun fact: You know, guys, Steven Guttenberg got the part for this movie because his father was an actual cop, and the director appreciated that. If he was able to have fun joking around playing a cop in this movie, you guys can too. You don't have to be so serious!

Fun fact: Police Academy was filmed in Toronto. The blue bands that the cops have on their caps, I think that's a Canadian thing.

Oh, it's even better in Michigan. Because the deer aren't just on the highway, or the country roads. I live in the Detroit suburbs. We have a pack of deer that wander around my neighborhood. And they aren't just in the suburbs, there's groups of them wandering in Detroit proper. They'll walk right in your backyard and just chill for a while, before heading back down the road. So times you'll see them in busy intersections, freaked out of their minds. Animal control isn't equipped to handle that, so often times... it's gotta be handled the other way.
Turkeys are a different story, though. They'll just let the cars take care of them, if someone's not paying enough attention.

Not only is it a slapstick comedy it takes place in the early 80's before many of the 'anti-fraternization' rules became common.
I guess back then the sleeping around could be done out in the open 🤣

When I was a young man in the 90's it was still ok to date a subordinate at work PROVIDED they did not directly report to you and you had no formal (and ethically informal) impact on their career. Now most companies simply ban either any workplace dating at all or, usually at minimum have lower ranks have to date exclusively lower ranks and if you are a Manager even if your proposed date works from home in another division or even in offices at the other end of the country, you simply can't do it. Quite frankly, I think todays workplace dating policies (including what counts as abuse of a authority) are too strict and often antihuman but to be fair such policies only exist because modern Sexual harassment law has gotten ever stricter and more Orwellian as well as arguably more sexist (Reasonable woman standard instead of Reasonable Person, let alone Reasonable Man).
Come one, there must be cops with a sense of humor. The concept of the channel itself isn't bad.

@@DMG380 in the 80s it definitely happened. That scenario is in a couple of movies from the 80s. So it must've happened or matbe just some guys fantasy like the hot pizza delivery girl that just so happens to want you.
My dads favorite saying was… “have you ever seen a cat skeleton in a tree? No? There’s a reason for that.” About the shooting of injured animals. Are Michigan Sheriff’s also game wardens? Because Alaska State Troopers do that too and they are also Game wardens.

Out of all the reactions to this movie on CZcams, I didn't expect a reaction with two actual cops to be so boring. 😂 This is exactly why I don't like police officers because they take everything too seriously and they take the fun out of everything. Sorry, guys, but you were bored as shit. It's a comedy, guys; it's not supposed to be scrutinized to the highest degree. Watching this was like being in school.
Well I'm sorry we disappointed you, but we do appreciate your feedback! I hope that you only hold generalized bias against cops and don't carry the practice of misplaced bigotry to any other demographic.
Sounds like basic training. But in basic training, we practiced squeezing the trigger and not moving the weapon (a dime on top, you had to do pushups if the dime fell off) long before there were any bullets involved. But while on the firing range, we had a girl shoot herself in the hand while re-arranging sand bags with one hand and still holding her M16 with the other and another person turn her weapon towards a drill sgt who called her name and got tackled. Broke her jaw.
Basic training has got to have a bunch of wild stories 🤣 you are taking kids fresh out of high school or college and completely changing their world.
Police academy has similar elements but I feel it is much less challenging physically/mentally but is harder academy only because of the learning component of the law.
But there are 6 other (7 in total) police academy movies left to review

You do know movies aren't supposed to be real life. They are supposed to take our world and twist it. If I wanted real life, I would watch Housewife's or old home videos. Movies are supposed to be fun and entertaining and to take you out of reality, and putting you in a world where a different reality exist. So, when you compare it to real world. It just sounds weird to me.

I have watched other people talk about movies related to their job and it was more clear. This scene always makes everybody laugh, and it's like the funniest thing in the whole movie. These cops are just disgusted by it 😂. At 6:09, see, this is the difference between civilians and cops. We can still find humor in things without being so overly critical.
There is a layer of satire within our review of this movie most people missed. We get that this was a "comedy", it was just a bit problematic at times and didn't come from a creative place that would be relatable. Google examples of shows that do a much better job is Brooklyn 99 or Reno 911. Those are objectively better at LEO related comedy 🤣

Great reaction guys. I live in the country in Ohio, I've hit 3 deer and had one deer hit me. Only one time did I ever call to have the deer dispatched and will never do it again. The Sheriff's deputy fired 6 rounds to dispatch a yearling ruining any meat that could have been salvaged. Nowadays I just keep a very sharp blade in my vehicle to deal with the animal myself if such action is needed. I still call in, of course, to report the animal and request a tag but have always been told to either take it or drag it off the road if I'm not taking it. Gotta love livin in the sticks. Lol.
What a wild set of circumstances 😲 It's rare to see deer in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of North Texas! It really illustrates how diverse America truly is as a country both geographically and culturally.

It doesn't matter if the movie is good or bad, cops shouldn't evaluate movies like this. Generally, they try to relate it to their own training and experience and that doesn't go well. Remember this is the 80s and there were a lot of things that were done differently and this is just a fictional movie of which I am almost sure they didn't have an advisor on current police procedure.

This in my opinion is an accurate representation of the majority of cops. Your military background and power hungry egos cause of an inferiority complex is apparent through this whole reaction. Looking forward to your trial once your body cam footage is released.
This, in my opinion, is an accurate representation of this of online cop hater (everyone is an individual and only bigots make gerealizations). Your lack of real world experience lead to to believe (inaccurately) that either of these retired officers had a military background or felt inferior to a old slapstick comedy about police academy 🤣 All of their body cam is already public record (like all of it is/should be) and they both received honorable discharges for their service. Go find actually shit cops (who totally exist) on the internet and shit post their videos... or watch any of the other content we produce here, we out bad policing allllll the time. (Or don't, we "fit the description" I guess and that is good enough for some people to pass judgment.)
