i’m not going to lie. if you didn’t read homestuck when you were younger you missed out. i could go on about the themes of growing up and the complexity of the plot but i won’t. anyway. it was fun in middle school and i still love it against all better judgement.

Homestuck’s themes are actually pretty incredible. I’ve legitimately been a little obsessed with the aspect wheel over the past couple months. I never realized until recently just how enlightening it can be on a personal level, and it’s cool to see an “elemental” system made of such unique pieces.
Homestuck might be a meme, but it’s got way more profound and moving stuff than people give it credit for.

I feel the verbiage employed was humorous, didactical and denotes the man of science you strive to be. I mean, it’s still technically Eridan’s theme, as it’s called “Violet Prince”. Hussie sometimes reappropriates songs made for specific characters in the Flashes, like how “Time on my Side” and “Unite Synchronization” were written for Dave but were given to Dirk in-comic.

The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Caliborn's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from "More How To Draw Manga Vol. 1 The Basics Of Character Design", for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Homosuck truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Caliborn's existencial catchphrase "I want to play a game," which itself is a cryptic reference to the horror movie "Saw" I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Andrew Hussie's genius unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Homosuck tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. its not that homestuck sucks, its that when most of us in the fandom finally trudge through the 8,000 page melting pot of memery, emotions, death, and absurdity, we tend to generate an air of self loathing. we view homestuck as a good vacation that went wrong as many times as it could without totally ruining it somehow
Homestuck main problem was that it had too much money and too much time. You tend to get decadent with those problems and the story is a go example

My personal head canon is that the reason Eridan seems hyper focused on acquiring a Kismesis is because he genuinely believes he's incapable of holding onto any of the other three quadrants. He acts with confidence but deep down, he's filled with doubt and self-loathing and it gets even worse when Feferi breaks off their Moirallegiance. He genuinely admires her and actually glorifies her to an unhealthy extent so when she consciously chooses to remove herself as the only positive influence in his life, it breaks him. After all, if the Troll he believes to be the most patient and kind of his species can't even stand to be his Moirail, what hope is there for anything in his life outside of Spades?
*edit* Even if this is a joke video its still interesting.
One thing that interesting is that in the post-canon eridan is turned into a pretty boy of sorts. But in the initial canon he has bags under his eyes and is constantly squinting even with glasses. I like to think that the bags are a result of constantly hunting for lusus , a sign of his hard work and dedication.
There also the fact that Eridan was always aware of his flaws, every time someone called him out he typically said 'yeah', meaning he has a high level of self awareness. What's sad though is that while he sees his flaws, he doesn't know how to fix them. Imagine being in that state, knowing the problems you have but not knowing how to fix them. He must have been in a hell of sorts.
It's interesting you say he's self aware--i always kinda interpreted his "yeah" answers when people call him out to be more of a brush-off. "yeah sure wwhatevver anywway wwhat wwas i sayin" style
This is somewhat unrelated, but i also like how despite being a Derse dreamer, eridan seems to be allergic to introspection. Which is fair, if i were a nazi i would also want to avoid inspecting my worldview too closely lest it be shattered with a slight amount of logic

Sometime after reading homestuck I was helping my mother with cleaning and I found a super long scarf with blue and black stripes. I thought this was a sign from Gods and I wear it proudly to this day, altough my sight gone a little worse and I also have to wear glasses. Guys if you find such a scarf, don't wear it! It will slowwly turn you into Eridan!
Joke or not, this arguement all falls apart when you notice and abhorrently obtrusive hamartia. Eridan is hypocritical. Despite being a man of "science" he never studies the "pseudoscientific alchemy" beyond the standard weapon forging the others partake in. Science is not only about asking questions, it's about being willing to accept the answers as they come, something Eridan has failed to do.

From time to time, i always end up coming back to this one video of yours (and others at it) because man... It genuinely amazes me how well structured and effort youve put into your opinions on these videos while being funny and informational at it. I can honestly agree and bacukup a hundred percent with your points about it. It is REALLY, REALLY refreshing that someone in this old and endlessly dying fanbase have some good points and opinions about this under/overappreciated comic (if i must say, almost everytime in the "wrong" way).
