In this episode we take a look at the stamps of Gibraltar and see how Bermuda featured in the beginning. We also take another look at the KGVI pictorial set and some modern classics. Finally we pose the question "Has Stanley Gibbons made a mistake?"
    additional note:
I have today (20/10/23) received an email from Stanley Gibbons to say that the catalogue value should read £60 not 60p, so well done to SG for such a prompt reply, and good news for me.
linK for the video on the KGVI set below

Hey Pete. Interesting video. I found there was something fascinating about Gibraltar. So interesting the overprints on the Bermuda stamps. And that for a period of time you could also use Spanish stamps in Gibraltar. The Moroccan cancellations on Gibraltar stamps are also interesting. So much I did not know and therefor I love your channel.
What I am very attracted to is those stamps that have stuff written on them on the back. I really like that. Reminds me of the New Zealand stamps that have advertisements on the back and the early Latvian stamps that were printed on old military maps.
Anyway, thanks for a great episode again!

I learn so much for your videos. As I said in another comments, I love these reviews of countries. The recent stamps with birds are magnificently beautiful. Would love to get hold of them. Thanks for your video!!!

Hi Pete! Your video on Gibraltar stamps is as always very knowledgeable and enjoyable. I don't why they used Bermuda stamps for their first issue of the colony but the footnote in the SG catalogue explains that some of Bermuda stamps they used to apply the Gibraltar overprint weren't issued in Bermuda... something to investigate further. As for my appreciation of Gibraltar stamps in general, I believe that some of the designs from the 60's were poorly made with a strange use of color but when they started to issue stamps in lithography the artistic quality in general improved and they have issued some beautiful definitive and commemorative sets (which you displayed in your video) and a large scope of thematic are available (boats, planes, military, royalty, scenery from Gibraltar) and easily accessible. Of course, the older issues (before 1960) are quite something and the 1938 issue is very interesting to collect with all its perforations and shades varieties, though some of them may be quite expensive. Thanks for this episode!

I have been working on a Gibraltar collection for quite a while now so I thoroughly enjoyed your video!
True - no clue why Bermuda was chosen for the origin set. Other possessions, for example Oil Rivers and Zululand, used the QV Jubilee Issue from 1887 to overprint on. Perhaps if Gibraltar waited a year to issue they would have been overprinted on the GB 1887 set instead of Bermuda?
Have you done a video on the War Tax stamps yet? I just stumbled on your channel and the content of your videos is excellent :)

Thanks for your comments. I am doing a series on different countries currently but War Tax stamps would make a good topic for a future video. Thanks for the suggestion.
