What a flash back, I was a late teen in the 1970's and cruised Van Nuys in my 66 Mustang and headed out to Irwindale Raceway to make a few runs on the strip, what a time.

I think about this movie allll the time .... I saw it when it came out -- I was 13!!! And although Californians seem to imply it's all about California, it could have been anywhere!! We had the same type of things going on in Virginia Beach, clear on the other side of the country! Drag races, and cruisin' for dudes and chics, and just harmless fun which sometimes went sideways -- just an unforgettable time.

Amen! We were doing the same in Milwaukee, Wisconsin! Wisconsin Ave and 27th Ave were the two best places to cruise and race! I joined the USAF and came to Phoenix in 1976 and Central Ave here was BOOMING! Same thing only way bigger! Easily as big as Whittier or Van Nuys!

Aww, the memories. Van Nuys Blvd on a Wednesday night. I was a senior when this movie came out. Bob's Big Boy:-) I just realized, that I'm old as dirt! But it was great and will never be the same again. *Sigh*...
Amazingly, I went to Elton John's Concert at Dodger Stadium. I can't remember if it was right before or after this movie came out. Anyone? This movie and the concert makes this movie a must have for those of us that remember.

I like this movie but the entire "lovers on the run" thing is all based on something so stupid that Bobby does that it just kind of ruins the movie a little. Rose only knew him for about an hour and for some bizarre reason still wants to hang out with the dope.
