I think the best part of this video is not the fact that he just held a note for 30 seconds but how perfect the note was and how amazingly his note perfectly folded into harmony, potentially making you forget he was holding that note for so long. Amazing.
Smart arranging. While Tim was holding that note, the others were doing a thousand other crazy chords and that note just fit in each one of those chords!!
I finally held the note out for 31 seconds. Now it sounded horrible and was ever changing pitch due to me feeling my lungs collapse but I can finally say I did it.
I kinda zoned out while doing it, and ended up going "She's BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH".
I just gotta say, my crowning achievement as vocalist was learning to control my breathing well enough to hold the note as long as Tim does. Did I have the same tambour? The same power? The same calm demeanor? Hell no, but I was in tune and held it to the end. Hell yeah.

I think it is really cool how quickly they switch the melody between them in the middle segments. Anyone who knows VS knows what's coming in the last 45 seconds of the song, but the best part of this particular song was the seamless switching between melodies.

I sometimes think Tim is simply not human like the rest of us! Besides being able to post for a long time he can also sing above human hearing. There's a vid on CZcams somewhere where he does just that! It disturbed me...LOL. I was unsettled afterwards. I needed counseling. There's another vid on CZcams where an entire auditorium vibrates when he holds an especially loud note. The audience jitters because they think the ceiling might collapse.
I accept that. It is a little unreasonable although I think Tim has a strong contrary and competitive streak. Meaning, that if you told him he could NOT do something vocally he would move heaven and earth to prove you wrong. To be honest I don't know the guy but I've been around musicians my whole life and I'm overly familiar with all types of musicians including "The Prodigy" and how they think. They are a lot like athletes.

To be frank man, I don't think it was Tim for all nine octaves, I've watched that video quite a few times to try to work it out, I don't think he's doing the bottom 1 and a half or the top 1 and a half octaves. Seriously, I love Tim, and the dude's range is freakishly impressive anyway, but I think it's beyond all reasonable doubt that he CANNOT sing nine octaves.
