I love this! My little one has severe autism and her therapy center has them practice trick-or-treating from room to room. I thought that was so great. Love your costume!
Also, children with disabilities may have extra challenges with these things. My daughter goes mute when nervous. My nephew is 16 and has developmental disabilities and doesn't understand he's "too old" plus he doesnt like costumes because of sensory issues. Little kindness goes a long way with kids.

This, this is so important when I was seven a guy answered the door had a fire fighter shirt on, and I told him that my dad was a fire fighter and he proceeded to tell me how much a horrible person my father was and I’m now 38 and I still remember that moment so vividly that it consumes my every Halloween memory! Be nice to those babies for sure!!!❤️❤️

I'm so glad I live in a town that really celebrates Halloween. They close down our downtown area and all the kids trick or treat in one area. Even the adults dress up. They fully expect teenagers to trick or treat and they're welcomed at all houses. In contrast, when I was 12 I was already 5'6" and my parents had me stop trick or treating because they were worried people would comment that I was too old. I love that we can all participate in the town I moved to. It's honestly become one of my favorite holidays now because the people around here don't have an age limit on celebrating Halloween.

I think I was between 17 and 19 the last time I went trick or treating. I went out with a bunch of my sister's teen friends and we had a blast! We got a ton of candy because all the neighbors had expected to get a bunch of trick or treaters but for whatever reason, they didn't get many. Lots of them just unloaded on us. We were silly and told people "Happy (wrong holiday)!" and told naughty jokes between ourselves, but we didn't get into any trouble. A few people said "aren't you a bit old?" and all that, but they still gave us candy and didn't try to make us feel bad or anything. I remember it better than I remember trick or treating with my parents.
Awesome message! I remember when I was in the 6th grade, our group of friends knew it would be our last halloween trick or treating, so we decided to go all out with group theme costumes. We were dressing as punks! We put a lot of effort into our costumes, took a lot of photos before we left my mom's house, we were so proud. But as soon as we got beyond the immediate neighbors' houses (cause they recognised me, so they knew how big the transformation was), people started to give us an attitude and were only reluctantly giving us bare minimum amount of candy. We were so disappointed! We figured out the big flaw in our plan so we weren't mad, but for our big Halloween finale, it was such a huge letdown!!
I used to say trick or treat when I opened the door. That way the kids who couldn't, didn't feel left out. Some kids would say " you aren't supposed to say that" and I would say why not, it's fun. I loved giving people of all ages a treat, if they were at the door, why shouldn't they get something! I think older kids who want to participate is awesome. It shows they are still just kids at heart.

yes!, halloween is ment to be fun! for everyone no matter what on if there dressed up or they are shy, everyone deserves fun!, also as a 15 year old i still went trick or treating and got dressed up,i took a break from trick or treating last year but i still went out with my little brother and mum, i went out with my little bro and next doors kids and there friends and it was nice!
My cutest Trick or Treaters this year was a young adult couple. They were dressed up and so sweet it took me a second to see their baby ladybug in a stroller. The baby was way too little for candy but I think they were excited to show her off!

It's only 30 degrees here so if anyone wants to grab their candy and run home where it's warm without saying a thing and wearing no costume but a coat, who is going to blame them?! Lol
If they are still school age they get candy. I even give parents a piece of candy. I want to let them know they are appreciated. Nope, at my house you just need to hold your container/sack out to where I can place the candies, you dont even need to say thank you. I moved to France in July 2017. We were living in an apartment building for our first Halloween. I didn’t know if there would be any trick or treaters as Halloween is not as popular here. We got a knock on the door and it was 2 kids and a mom I ad seen before in the building. After I gave them candy, one kiddo said “merci!” and the other went to knock on the door next to mine. The mom said “arrêt! Ils ne sont pas américains!”-stop! They aren’t Americans!
I love Halloween! I'm 46 .... and every year I debate if I'm going to try and go Trick or treating lol being only 5ft , and my step son always says that I could pass for a 8 year old (he's 6ft5) Maybe 2024 is my year hahahahah. Yup I'm also trying to hold on to my childhood....(80's kid )
Yes! I stopped trick or treating when I was 9 and the first house I went to the woman went on a rant shaming me for being too old to trick-or-treat. Looking back, I was tall for my age so she probably thought I was a teenager or something but I was dressed like my American Girl doll and what teenager does that? And who cares if teens are trick-or-treating?! Is it really that important to you? I was taught never to question or talk back to adults and so I went home sad and I don’t remember if I told my mother, I was so ashamed. Yet another reason growing up in Oklahoma in the 80s was not a nostalgic time for me. Sad to hear folks are still doing this now. Probably all Boomers.
I’m 10 this year and that happened to me I said trick-or-treat but they did not hear me say it so they said you did not say trick-or-treat and I didn’t get anything from that house and my mom was not happy and she had to complain
