  • Let’s set up your Nest Wifi router and point.
Your Nest Wifi router and point create a mesh network that replaces your existing router and spreads a strong, reliable signal throughout your home.
Depending on the size of your home, you may need more than one Wifi point to get full-home coverage. Check out the tool on the Google Store.

Yes and yes, that is possible. There are instructions on their help centre for connecting the ‘points’ through Ethernet so the backhaul is hardwired. This is arguably better for bandwidth.
And yes you can use a second ‘Nest Routers’ as the extra mesh point.

So it's not a router but mesh AP. A modem is a true router in this scheme. Misleading.

What do you do if you do not have a modem ?

If you do not have a modem/router then you obviously do not have fixed line broadband so you do not need this product kind of a no brainer ain't it.

I believe there is an option to set it up manually by typing a code into the app which is found on the bottom of Google Nest near the QR code.

Google has done a really shitty job at instructing the set up. Apple stuff sets up by itself this thing is a nightmare to set up. My speaker came with no router, I have a router already.

I do have a question though. I recently purchased 2 units of both a router and point.
Both points connected to the primary router without issue.
    The second router is troublesome.
    My setup is:
    - Modem -> Router (living room) -> two points (kitchen&bedroom)
    - Modem - > 2nd router (attic)
When doing a mesh test, it says the second router is offline. When doing a solo test it says the signal is weak. Anyone any idea what the problem is?
Do have to mention that the second router is also connected with ethernet cable directly in my modem.
    Any help would be nice.
    Thx in advance.
