- Let's get you set up with your new Google Wifi mesh Wi-Fi system. You can also set up On Hub devices using these instructions.
1. Download the Google Home app for Android or iOS.
2. If this is your first time using the Google Home app, set up a home.
3. Choose a location for your primary Wifi point.
4. Connect the Ethernet cable to your Google Wifi point’s WAN port . Then, connect the other end to your modem.
5. Plug your primary Wifi point into an electrical socket.
6. Wait 90 seconds for the light to slowly pulse blue. This indicates that it is ready to be set up in the Google Home app.
7. On your phone or tablet, open the Google Home app Google Home app.
8. Tap Add device
9. Under "New devices," tap Set up new devices in your home.
10. Choose a home.
11. The app should find your Google Wifi device. Tap Yes to continue. If you have multiple devices available for setup, select your primary Wifi point.
12. Scan the QR code on the bottom of your device.
13. Select a room for your router or create a new one.
14. Give your Wi-Fi network a name and a secure password.
15. Continue through the app to complete setup.
16. The router will now create your Wi-Fi network. This may take a few minutes.

You forgot to mention the part where the points fail to connect to the setup network. Now what
I have this issue, have you got around fixing it? If yes… can you explain how?
I kinda solved it, it seems that the problem is in their ios app, i took out of his grave a galaxy tab 2 and managed to use it to connect the access points
Same
So i need a google device to set it up since the ios app has issues?
@@VideoStalker00 that’s what i did, you may manage to do it in IOS but it kinda sucks that it doesn’t have a web version, or… you know… fix their godamn app…
You may get away with a emulator too… i didn’t tried it tough
SO I managed to fix the issue after trying for 3 hours.
My situation - I bought a used google wifi (x3) and installed using Google Home app. The second and third wifi points were not JOINING the existing the first router to form a mesh. They kept trying to join the internet and create a whole new WIFI setup rather than form the mesh. So finally here is what I did.
- First I installed the primary router. This was plugged in via ethernet card to the internet modem.
- Second I located the SECOND unit next to the primary router and then ALSO plugged that into the internet modem via ETHERNET cable. So the primary and second unit were both connected via ethernet to the internet modem at this time.
- This then allowed the second device to be added to the EXISTING wifi network that the primary modem operates. They formed a mesh.
- Once the setup was done, I disconnected the second unit from ethernet cable and placed it where I needed. The mesh is working just fine.
yea i had to do the same thing
Wait what if my modem only has one Ethernet entry cable and it’s not the same size and the Ethernet cable I have
That worked for me, thanks.
Thank you, I feel google wifi app was way easier and less problematic before they switched to google home..
Google really dropped the ball on the Google Nest by not including a single ethernet port on the point module. They corrected that mistake with the Nest Pro, but the Pro is so much more expensive. SMH
I also had issues moving from Google Wifi to Google Home. I could only get it working by first resetting and then set-up the main wifi point, and then adding additional wifi points while in the same room as the main wifi point, almost having them face to face. Once connected I could move around the additional wifi points to other rooms.
This was very helpful!! Thanks for sharing! I was finally able to connect the additional wifi points with this method
I didn't need to do a reset (which I can't figure out how to do without reset buttons on the newer units anyway). Setting up the points in close proximity to the main wifi point, and then moving it to the other part of the house, seemed to do the trick. Jeez, Google should re-do their demo videos!
What to do when light completely shuts off?
I initially sett up my Google MESH Wifi with 4 units using Google Wifi. It worked an still works fine. Then I was told Google home would take over management of the Mesh Wifi. I have tried everything that is supposed to fix this, but even though my my Google Mesh network works fine, Google home cannot find any of the four units i initially installed using Google WIFI. I might set up the whole network from scratch, but what if that doesent work? Will my whole network collapse? Any suggestions?
Hey I have a question pls reply
I am experiencing the same issue and I am worried that resetting my connections and password using the Google Home app from the beginning might not be successful. I simply need to reset my password.
"Each point you add"' Yes and how do we do that???
Hey Frank we just finished this video for google you know that trillion billion dollar company. You think this video will suffice with the instructions? Yes Bill what do you think that google wont know what they are doing? Come on Frank have a little faith...
For Mesh units, can you use the same exact SSID & password of the router, so as not to have to do a new setup for all the devices previously connected in the home, s.a. IP security cameras and devices? Will the mesh units work this way or do they interfere with a router and need different names?
Yes. The mesh network is the whole network. It just finds which one gives you a better and stronger connection.
@@AndroidAntillnot what he asked but thanks for your bot like google assistant reply to this Google wifi related question.
Actually partial Answer:
From what i understand and it could be totally wrong, The mesh network communicate and work together to get signal and internet from multiple mesh devices, your router doesn't do this, it sends the signal to one device and works by itself so it would interfere and cause confusion for your device if the router and mesh network have the same name.
In my case (example not actual names)
Router wifi is: Home (source)
Mesh network: Home (mesh)
So i know if im connected to the source or the mesh and it helps a lot as sometimes my internet is really slow in my kitchen and when i look it's because for some reason im still connected to the source with low signal instead of the mesh
Otherwise it would be a guessing game to connect to the correct one
@@beni5149 I literally have a mesh network lol. I'm glad I'm insulted for being a Google bot rather than an idiot with a partial answer.
I live in a camper outside my dads house at the moment and I get wifi but it’s weaker obviously. I was thinking I could try this or try and run a long Ethernet cable. Which option should I do?
Hey! I’m a internet-technician so let me help you. You can get just as good Wi-Fi as he gets inside the house!
Just run a Ethernet cable from the router/modem to a access point inside your camper.
Google Wi-Fi is pretty expensive so just get a cheaper one with the same functionality, good luck! :)
what do i do when i set it up but unplug it from my router and take to my room to connect to my pc it turns red and doesn’t work what do i do
HELP!!! @2:54 I am told to "Follow the instructions in the GHome app..." but the app is not giving anymore instructions. It set up the one Wifi point and that's it. @2:57 "Follow the same set up for additional points". What set up? The first one or the one that doesn't seem to be happening for me, which is this @2:54 part telling me to follow on-screen instructions that are not in existence for me. Or do I plug these additional access points into the original modem and blah blah blah.... Ugh, I think I'm moving into the woods, good-bye everyone!
We use google home, but it not working. We have 5pcs of google wifi. We can manage with Google wifi Apps. But after they suspend that app (google wifi) and moved all services to Google Home, all our devices can't manage and configure. We are sure and know how to merge and adding those devices with google home, but it still not working.
- Can't see my google wifi (devices), event factory reset, and try with different ISP & Router devices.
- and some add to see in scanned but can't be adding.
Would you have any solution, please help.
Kind regard
Any fix yet? This is so annoying, i just moved and now they are useless. Its so annoying they were working fine on google wifi app
Same issue. Please help too
Same issue here.
Ok I tried setting this up but now it’s saying I need an Ethernet cable but don’t have that. What now??
You can buy an ethernet cable online or from a local store near you.
Office supply stores have them. Even some supermarkets and drug stores too.
They're not expensive. I suppose that's what you did, since your comment is "1 year ago".
Best investment ever
Ty queen
Not able to connect the 3rd access point, can anyone help?
Same here. Did you ever fix the issue?
I’m just using this for gaming lol
Will these instruction work for a 1gen google wifi unit. I do not use any extra points. One google wifi covers my whole home. I am having some connection issues with just my laptop 2.5 Ghz, all other 8 devices work fine. Thought maybe doing a factory re-set might help with my poor laptop connection/speed.
How do I add a device you didn’t tell me!
So i guess after several months this stupid issue hasn’t been solved?
Google Mesh has been the worst. Can’t seem to migrate. Throttles bandwidth, and you have to sell your traffic to use features. Switching to eero or Orbi.
yea except the google home app is totally messed up and wont connect ANY of your google devices to the wifi! Read the reviews for google home in the google play store. I tried it 3 months ago and it was broken, factory reset and went back to google wifi! Now the Google Wifi App has been retired, so if you migrate to google home you cant go back to the google wifi app. None of your Devices will connect to google home, and cutomer service has no fucking clue how to fix it! If you have google wifi and its currently working fine with the old app, DONT MIGRATE to Google Home! You will lose all internet access!!!!
I noticed nothing if connecting wtf
Im having the same issue. Do you know of a work around
Damn... I just reset and tried to migrate..... One setup but it doesn't show how to add the others. If I try adding another one it instead makes a new network instead of adding it to the first one..... This is pissing me off.
@@RamenKing2023 Sorry I don't know how to help fix. As soon as I set-up my Google mesh system, all of the devices are visible and you can name them and follow the bandwidth in each to make sure your system is optimized. Hopefully someone will come on here and have some answers. Sorry.
@@ron5334 Thanks for the reply. I reset it again and it finally worked. I was able to add the other devices.
How do I connect my Philips hue bridge to these?

It’s not working Google - facking get your shit together pls. I spent a ton of money on these currently useless routers.
For anyone struggling, just grab an Android Phone and set up using an Android. I can’t believe I lost 3 hours only to fix this in 2 minutes with an Android phone.😂
