I’ve only just stumbled upon this by pure chance! This is fabulous! We used to live along the side of this line, in Pelsall, just after we had our first baby boy, from 1972 until 1977.
Only goods trains used it while we lived there (apart from the odd, very rare passenger excursion) - you can just about see our 3-storey flats on the left… after we pass under the lattice-footbridge that used to mark the site of the old Pelsall station (5:20 into the clip), then go under the solid road bridge that led to Railswood Farm over on the right… The driver sounds his horn and then if you look quickly to the extreme left you’ll see the backs of the 3-storey flats and we lived in the topmost one at the end of the row!
We often used to watch in delight as the trains thundered past, out of our kitchen window. Our baby son was never woken by the trains’ noise - he was used to it all the time!
Just past our old flat, the driver slows down for the level crossing with Ryders Hayes Lane, which in those days continued across the railway line and became a farm track, leading to the former Ryders Hayes Farm (before it became a short-lived quarry which is now a lake).
We often used to go for a cross-country walk over this level crossing and continue-on to Coppice Wood at Walsall Wood.
This has brought back amazing memories for me - thank you so much to whoever filmed it in the first place and to you for posting it on here for us!
I never dreamed I’d ever be able to go back in time and actually take a virtual ride on a train that drove past our home all those years ago on a line that no longer exists!
    Wonderful!

Hi Steve I had stumbled across this myself, I lived at 50 Railswood Drive from a baby until a few years after the line was ripped up in 1983, Spent many a day on the bridge as a kid on the bridge! If you look at 04:38 at the track it is split! How the trains didn't derail I will never know!

Excellent, thanks for uploading the full version. Nice to see the box known as 'Bodleys' at 01.33 and the Peak on a freight at Walsall. The revised date of 1982 would be about right as the spur to Birchills Power station (on the North Walsall line) was closed and lifted circa 1981, you can see where it used to go off to the left at Ryecroft Junction at 03.02, just past a brick hut.

I used to travel along this line daily from Pelsall to B'ham and occasionally to Lichfield and sometimes to Burton.(steam and then diesel units)Once went on an excursion from Pelsall to Alton Towers (train was packed) Thank you for bringing back memories, never thought I would see this line again.

i had to speed the video up to fit as a whole film on youtube, so the sound doesn't match the video, but atleast you can view the full version which would of taken over 24mins to view.
The original copy, which was given to us had 1975 written on the disk, but like you say, after a few views you could tell it was alot later. On the real time part 2 video, you can hear the driver mention that the line from Lichfield to Anglesey is going to be left and converted to single line running.

Walked this line from Pelsall to Lichfield on Monday. The one line is in tact from Brownhills. Fascinating walk
