      Personally I am glad GxK broke even that only thing I really care about. I just came back to seeing Civil war and got me wondering if that going be our future? Its scary to think of that but that could be a possible reality down the road.

    LoL. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare also known as the Dollar Store knock of of Inglorious Basterds crashes and burns at the box office. I know it lost my ticket with Ritchson’s comments.

      I saw it today. You aren't really missing much. It's a really meh Btier movie. Not the worst I've had in a theater, but not something I go heard to recommend.
      Also, it can be argued that it's a sorta bait and switch. Henry Cavil is the defacto main character, but he spends at least half the movie sitting on a boat. The girl character does by far the most stuff in the movie.

    Another disastrous weekend for the movie industry with a combined box office of only $63 million. For perspective, the worst weekends in 2017, 2018, and 2019 were $76, $85, and $72 million respectively. And this wasn't even close to the worst weekend of 2024 so far. I don't see how the theaters can survive much longer under these conditions.
    And next month all we have coming out are Girl Boss Planet of the Apes and Girl Boss Mad Max.

    I'm glad to have played a part in Dune's financial success. Was almost tempted to see it twice but I'd rather wait for it to come on blu ray.
    As for Civil War... it clearly should have cost more to make. Yeah, I get that it didn't really choose a side but even so it's just adding more fuel to the paranoia fire America sparked long ago.

    Why would I ever watch a movie with Alan Ritchon in it ? I refuse to give money to people who hate me and my family. Self-respect and all that. In fact it's quite easy not to see movies from people who despise you. But apparently it's quite an obscure art, much too difficult to master for many.
    It's also uncanny to see how the Chinese and American box office resemble each other these days. Just look at the numbers of that infantile lizard and monkey movie. Then again; to be fair cinema is now a themepark so not too surprised either.

    • @JediLordRevan
      @JediLordRevan Před 3 měsíci

      So like, my issue with that stance, Alan Richon is not an outlier in Hollywood. Most 70% of Hollywood are active libs that hate people like you.
      You would basically have to stop watching all movies entirely to maintain your stance.

    Dune 2 production budget including reshoots is at least 200 mil. Marketing is around 150. There's also print costs. So we're talking 350 mil. It needs at least 700 mil to make a profit. Dune 2 is so far unprofitable and may lose money. At best it can do a little better than breaking even.

    I wonder if someone behind the scenes effected Ungentlemanly Warfare? Like making them hold back on some scenes, change dialog, giving more scenes to some characters instead of more favorable actors, etc. Wokeness can effect things more than just the film itself having woke stuff in it. Sometimes it's what the film doesn't do or what it might have cut out. That way they think they can have their cake and eat it too; Not put blatantly woke things in the film but holding back too much from swinging in the other direction, even if it would make the movie more exciting. I know some people now don't want to support Alan Richtson for being so toxic, but I just wonder if this film would have been made better if it had been made 5, 6, or 7 years ago.

    I am actually interested in Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Civil War, and Abigail. Hopefully Civil War isn't a film that has over the top preachy politics in it. But Abigail grabs the biggest interest out of them all.

    henry cavill fans make a lot of noise online about how they support him but when it comes to actually supporting him they're nowhere to be found. why don't y'all put your money where your mouth is? the guy deserves a better fan base

    • @Hedgehobbit
      @Hedgehobbit Před 3 měsíci +1

      If a movie is bad, the movie is bad. Just because it has an actor you like doesn't mean anything. The idea that a "fan base" should go see every movie an actor is in is bizarre. Even Schwarzenegger, at the height of his popularity, didn't have this loyalty.

    I see that the Behemoth which was Dune part 2 has just overtaken Indecent Proposal in the inflation adjusted box office charts. Not even reaches $280 Million US. Which of the usual FNT suspects was predicting it was a BILLION DOLLAR movie?
