SKEERONK!!! Godzilla x Kong is still dominating the box office.
@@Tyrantking7 yup and it’s already surpassed the overall box office of kung fu panda 4
I expected that would happen after GxK ruled the box office for 2 weeks. Personally, with things going on with the election this year, I think some GA went to see this film for more of a guidelines of a"what if scenario" (I had my doubts about that but things are heating up in both parties.)
Now, GxK may not hit $200M domestic but has a chance to beat Godzilla 2014. Despite that, MV is still alive and well with the upcoming season 2 Monarch, mysterious spin-off series, and possibly a 3rd wingard film.
The Civil War was Texas and California joining forces... I don't know how you can be more nonpartisan than that. And the President was very much not a Trump stand in, people making that assertion are just forcing their politics onto the movie.
8/10 cause I like open to interpretation movies!
Nice to see Godzilla x Kong continue to do well. I know there’s still some places it has yet to open up in and it will most likely get a decent boost internationally within the next week and probably pass the entire worldwide gross of Godzilla vs Kong and get closer to that 500 million dollar mark.
GxK is a surprisingly good movie. Pleased it's doing well.
It will cross that 500 million mark my words
I've seen civil war three times and I can say that I love this movie a lot. The first time I was really frustrated with the Jesse character because she's such an idiot but I after seeing it three times have realized that Alex Garland has made this character to show the new generation as soulless narcissist who only care about likes and views rather than journalism and history and facts. And I think our reaction of repulsion to the end is what he wants. It's just the reality of all this is a lot of people are stupid or insane nowadays. And they have access to phones and accounts online and internet access. These people could put their opinions that are just noise without any critical thought into the dialogue drowning out any real criticism of the film. These people only highlight how accurate Alex Garland is with civil war and how polarized we are as a society that we cannot come together and just talk. This is a masterpiece of a film not for idiots who like Godzilla x Kong. That movie is just garbage for mindless zombies
While I like the idea that _Civil War_ doesn't tell you what to think and leaves room for different viewpoints, I have no interest in a movie that is about journalists.
I thought Civil War was very lackluster road film. But I got through it.
I haven't seen Civil War but unless I know there is very blatant stuff that I would hate, then I'll give it a chance. There has been a lot of stuff over the last few years that people on every sides said that shouldn't have been made for worse reasons then just being bad. Sometimes I listened to them a little bit, like with the film The Hunt and the game Far Cry 5. Other times I didn't listen like with Joker. I liked all of them when I did see/play them. Also a film I didn't know had controversy until after I watched and liked it was Dashcam. It was a fun horror film about a potty mouth, rapping content creator during the pandemic.
Hi Odin always great to see you and yes Civil War opened better than I expected but like you said don’t see this doing well international like here cuz basically based On America and look like We getting another Monster movie since Godzilla x Kong doing so well hope the next one be a good storytelling but I doubt it
Godzilla X Kong had the best third weekend of any of the monsterverse movies. It won't catch the original Godzilla but it looks like it will pass Kong Skull Island as the second highest domestic box office of the series.
Unadjusted
@@OMBReviews Inflation doesn't really doesn't matter in this case because GxK was the cheapest movie in the series so selling slightly fewer tickets isn't as big an issue.
Slightly fewer is very accurate proportionally
The cinematic quality of Civil War is really beside the point. The movie is so tainted by Hollywood in my mind that there is zero chance I will ever spend money on it or even watch it. I can predict exactly how I would react to the political undertones contained within.
In a very real sense, Hollywood has become my enemy, and I treat it as such.
Wtf? You haven’t even see it but It’s too tainted by “Hollywood” that just shows a bias.
I'm not interested in Civil War but I am in the various opinions about it, that sound much more entertaining.
I would check out these reviews: criticless.com/titles/8594b902-760a-41ba-87ac-bf0e46dd5f1a
I'm seeing The First Omen next.
I went and saw The Long Game this weekend. For those that don't know, it's based on the true story in 1950s Texas and a group of Mexican American high school students won the state golf championship. It has Jay Hernandez, Dennis Quaid and Cheech Marin in the cast. I liked it. Good sports film
This was my first A24 flick. Let's just say it was interesting! Looking forward to some of their other stuff that i saw ads for.
Not by much only by $2 million and it’s likely GxK will take back the top spot plus the movie is heavily outperforming the others
$10 million actually
I saw Civil War and I liked it.
Ex Machina ...etc production of Civil War does some amazing stuff. Yes the are not huge budget. Yet they make memorable material.
I haven't seen Civil War yet, but it looks interesting. I might go see it as more of an educational movie. This will probably be the movie that sends A24 in a more mainstream direction.
Honestly , I fully expect that Grace Randolph and people who are subscribers to her CZcams channel will have a field day when they find out that civil war only grossed $25.7 million at box office against production budget of $50 million meaning it’s unlikely to reach $150 in order to break even
I'm just glad that in my little country the Netherlands a SF movie for grown ups like Dune 2 is a huge succes that will probably make 6 to 7 times as much money as that infantile lizard and monkey movie for the baby crowd. In fact It moved to number 1 again this week (first 4 weeks it was no 1 and last week no.3 (behind Kong and Kung Fu Panda). I expect it to be no1 again next week and to be the biggest hit this year. I'm almost certain the same is true in numerous other European countries. it's mainly the USA and China who clamour for this endless stream of adult baby crap. The rest of us just want our cinema back.
The liberals are butt hurt 😂😂
Civil war is a pretty good flick. I would even say it is to little political. I found no real explanation how it comes to the Point, but what happens there...wow that is disturbing.
I quite enjoyed Civil War because it wasn't about the war, but the characters. A little overacting, but enjoyed it tremendously.
Civil War was objectively a bad movie. You can like a bad movie but calling a horrendously bad movie the is poorly written with disjointed narrative and silly nonsense like journalists following seal teams around like they are part of the team takes you out of the movie reviewer catagory
It’s not an objectively bad movie. Get the bias out of here
Not only do the guys at Film Threat speak highly of it, but even Jeremy Jahns thought it was fine
@OMBReviews it is the main premise makes a goofball movie . We are going to interview a guy who controls the place that we are going and he ends reporters . How ? No explanation. It dumb out the gate . No character development every scene felt like a lame video game , no narrative through line the main characters were unlikable. The third act moved well but was just as nonsensical as the boring rest. Again it's okay if you and these other people like this empirically bad film. UT you need to learn more about the art form.
It’s ok if you are letting political bias taint your view. But you don’t have control of objectivity. I’ll prove just one of your points wrong. No arcs? The main photographer sacrifices herself only after her film journey. The new girl? Goes from crying because of her environment to being able to handle it and become the hardened person she respected. You don’t have to like it but it’s an arc and it makes complete sense. Keep your garbage out of here
My problem is it's trying to be hyper realistic in a fictional setting and scenario that has the resemblance of a Call of Duty Modern Warfare video game. It takes you out of the realistic story it's trying to tell when nothing really matters outside of the characters which involve war journalists no one really likes. Maybe if it were in a more relevant than ever setting of the Middle East in chaos with two sets of war journalists trying to set their own narrative based on who's side they're on would probably be more compelling than side characters in a Call of Duty campaign.
