  • Ever wondered how much software engineers make at Google? In this video, I share exactly what a Google Software Engineer salary is and how it's broken down, looking at real figures (including my original offer from Google) to answer the oh-so-important question of: how much do Google Software Engineers really make?

Your candor is well appreciated! I work in info sec and guest lecture at a local community college once a semester on employment opportunities and outlook in the tech sector and a brutally honest career timeline from my first job (30+ years ago, bagger at a grocery, $1.85 per hour, fired after 30 days) to working as a info sec professional today doing much better despite some career mis-steps. I will be including this video and others on your experiences as materials for the students to consider. There seems to be a deficit of out-reach from the tech industry to the potential labor pool in plain language that lays out the opportunities and realities of what it means to work in tech.
    Well done!

Software Engineer's Salary majorly depends on the following factors: 👇
    1. Your Level of Experience
    2. Area of Expertise
    3. Your last compensation
    4. Your country
    5. Your negotiation skills ✅
    6. Other offers your have ;)
Among these, the most important part is the negotiation.
😎 *"Negotiating Salary is an Art"* , prepare yourself well enough before discussing this.
Also planning to make a video covering it soon.

Okay, now I understand why all of the Silicon Valley software firms have an office in Hyderabad, India. My friends there have told me that they generally make less than 10% of what US based SWE's get. But, that they live quite well on that 10% as things are comparatively cheaper in Hyderabad. Also, some but not all Hyderabad SWE companies will transport their people from home to work just because traffic is so horrible in the city at certain times. Thanks for this info.

Hey, I’ve just started python two months ago. I’ve created two projects, both are GUIs that do things like build sentences from entering info in certain fields, they display my knowledge of the basics to include functions, variables, lists, dictionaries, and so on. I’m looking to apply to a few internships next summer, these internships are geared towards beginners (freshman/sophomores) with programming classes and interest in software engineering. I am working o a 3rd larger project, these projects I’m pushing to GitHub in the next few weeks, I’m adding the last finishing touches. Do you think these are good projects to have as I apply, since i have to add my github to the application? If so, what else can help. If not, what would be something else to add. Please, this is open for anyone to answer (preferably clement).😉 Also, what are the things senior engineers, recruiters look for in the early programmers looking to intern at these companies.

I've got a question, with so many employees coming in/out, how do you avoid them running out of stocks?
Are these class A stocks they just buy in the market to give you?
How do they give it to you (which platforms do they use)?
Because in the beginning I thought they'd give you a bonus ($) based on the stock price, meaning they're giving you stocks symbolically, not literally.
But you obviously corrected that right now so 🤔

Here in Israel, those big companies still offer the best compensation plans, considering that all the rest are mostly small startups.
But the funny (or not) thing is that compared to the cost of living here (we're one of the most expensive countries in Asia - think Tokyo expensive)
and the fact that 40% of our salary is taken off by the government (due to high defense expenses) we're left with not that much...
Think that yourbase salary at Google as L3 is the on the range of what L5 makes here (before the aforementioned taxes)....yes...
So that's the reason why the successful programmers here relocate to the US at some point - it's a problem called "the brain evasion", and we're planning on leaving the country in the next two years for those exact reasons.

TC are lower everywhere in Europe compared to USA except Zurich, afaik in Zurich gross salaries are similar to Bay Area but with lower taxes.

I think that people leave it off because they think they can't discuss it but when people do discuss their salary, it encourages the employees to know their worth and get a better salary rather than being bitter about someone making more than them. he's a math major from an ivy league. that means he can pick up new info much faster than most people. for a regular person it would take at least 2 years to get to a level where they can compete for these kinds of jobs. and that's 6+ hours a day for 2 years...

Wow at the moment you have 1.4k likes, 70 dislikes, that's actually a 20:1 ratio which is the same ratio you showed in the beginning with the money :') What a wonderful coincidence !
