    Summary Managers at startups vs big companies would have different responsibilities. Managers also assume some of the responsibilities of a product manager. We are responsible for the product. Primarily the goal is to make sure we have a well functioning team in place, psychologically safe, a very happy team, that’s going to be able to make those decisions and then execute them. Manager’s job is not to go and make every decision himself. They are supposed to empower the team to be able to make those decisions. Culturally well set up, coached properly, conflict resolution. Communication is a big part of the job, from business/PM/technical with engineers. Engineering managers need to understand things at a very broad level, whereas staff/lead need to understand things at a more narrow or deep dived level. Get something to a point where someone can take over and let it go…delegate! Focus your time EM needs to be very selective where they are going to focus their time Things I can do that will empower my team to be better If EM sits down and starts debugging a specific issue by himself, probably not the best use of EM’s time Should be able to delegate it Engineering is easy, people are hard

    I think the solution could be much more simpler then presented. Establish each strongly-connected subgraph (you can do it with DFS and a stack) and count the number of 0-degree inbound vertex in each group (exclude S).

  • @msmaaay-ks7dg
    @msmaaay-ks7dg Před 7 dny

    What the hack? I havent seen the end yet, but the algo she wrote is overcomplicated for a such simple task. There should just a simple for loop starting from 1 to blocks.length -1 and distance counters calculation distance to the previous and next blocks from current. Thats it. You would have an about linear complexity insteadof heaving two for loops what have sometimes event nested loops...Im a regular senior developer, but even at my junior level I belive I would think the same way

    I think in multi billion dollar company like google there's enough money for paying for development in small increment chunks of 10 -- 100 lines of code each and for reviewing all code until perfect.. In typical low budget projects dealing with tons of legacy crap your commits will be at least hundreds lines of code,. most of it just transforming the mess in the more digestable food, if you try to write perfect code you'll be fired soon for there will be always someone to write it faster and crappy, for product managers it does not matter what's inside as long as it's working.
