Early Act 2 was by far my favorite part of the game. Besides hitting my soft spots for defending bastions against attack and rising against a hopeless situation, the voice-acting and story really hit a peak here.
One of the two most memorable moments. I love the story between Hendrik and Jasper, especially Jasper's side. A story of a man never given a chance to be seen, a man always coming second, a man who was corrupted due to being cast aside and treated as only the second throughout his life. I feel him on many levels, and that's why I love his story.
Stages of how I react to Jasper: Before Gondolia: “This is all a misunderstanding and he means no harm. I’m chill” since Gondolia: “Forget what I said earlier. Nobody touches the party members *THEY ARE FAMILY.* JASPER IS GOING DOWN” After this moment: “Oh, He’s just misunderstood and underrated. Maybe he isn’t so back..” After I find out Veronica is dead: “Screw it. Jasper is going *DOWN* “ After his boss battle in the Fortress of Fear: “Oh god. This dude has it rough.”
@@pforgottonsoul I would say that too, but the Hendrick side story in the post-game was actually nice enough to explain it for me, I can understand it without forgiveness.
I went from absolutely loathing Hendrik to absolutely loving him in one damn scene. Imagine being in his shoes, pledging to protect the boy you once hunted from all harm as atonement for contributing to the end of the world, even if it means going up against your best friend. In the moment he cried out to me that he would always be my shield and that I wouldn't need to worry about myself because of that before fighting Tyriant, he truly became my favorite character in this game.
Hendriks arc in this game was so good starting from the right han man of the "bad guy" then learning he was completely wrong and trying to atone for what he did all that leading up to this having to beat the last connection he has to that old life and Jasper throwing all the things he did right in His face. Easily the best scene in this game. The whole second half made Hendrik my favorite character.
We're lucky Jasper didn't fight us himself! He gave my whole party some serious trouble many levels and quests later... Also this is one of the rare times I left English voices instead of the original, because the voices are great. Jasper and Hendrik are perfectly represented.
if he had bothered to talk with Henrik he would have found that they both felt the same way about never measuring up happiness comes from inside 100% drop rate
No kidding. I would be so hyped for Hendrik if he's the last dlc fighter. He would have no victory theme and the results display theme wouldn't play. Instead he would have a thunderstorm ambience.
Props to John Hopkins(Hendrik) and Mathew Gravelle(Jasper) for an outstanding voice acting performance in this scene and let's not forget Timothy Wattson(Tyriant); that was a brilliant Skeletor impression.
Or perhaps that's nt exactly what happened and Jasper just saw it like that, as in his mind, Hendrick was always the one ahead of him, and his thoughts are distorted by anger. This tends to be a common trope in anime and similar games.
so, i see you're level 47... i was wondering why this fight was so difficult for me. i beat it at level 27....... after about 7 tries... and a lot of luck.
@@Mintiy8523 I vividly remember getting steamrolled by the Auroral Serpent in my first playthrough because I was so under-leveled and didn't see that boss fight coming until I got there. I somehow scraped by a victory with Erik as my last man standing.
This was the most powerful and memorable scene in the game for me. Love it.

I just beat the game and I agree. It was so surprising to see the heroes actually lose and makes you feel at rock bottom in story and gameplay

Maybe the best scene in the game. Hendrik's voice actor is incredible.
Yes
Not as good as tyriants, lol 😆
Fuckin Skeletor was hiding behind the throne, I love it.
I love how I'm not the only one who sees him as Skeletor.

Wow I really hated Jasper’s guts but this scene was brutal yet so powerful... and I actually can really sympathise with him as well

4:45 What a voice!
No kidding! Yet another reason Hendrik should be in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!

Hendrik and Jasper are like flipping Sora and Riku
*sees Jasper with white hair, dark clothes, and uses dark magic*

This might be the best part of the game for me

4:44 Best line in the game..
Jasper looks like that one villain from Zelda: Skyward Sword.
You mean Ghirahim?
He dose look like Ghirahim with longer hair.
More like he’s a Sephiroth or Psaro wannabe. Even though in JP dub, he’s played by Takahiro Sakurai (Cloud Strife and Rohan Kishibe).
From a beautifully moving scene to cackling skeletor.
This guy is nuttier than Dhoulmagus
Who's the real Darkspawn now, Jasper?
2:30 that's one fake friend right there he did Jasper foul
Yeah. That part just made me sympathize with Jasper.
Yep,that part really make Hendrik look like a asshole and I hate it,so uncharacteristic

If you want Dio in DQ,I suggest you see Dhoulmagus from DQ8(voiced by Takehinto himself),both even got a similar backstory

How did you even get that far at 27?!!
I'm about to grab my sixth orb and everyone on my party is at least 30
I played with super strong monsters draconian quest and i died once on PS4. beat it without dying on switch
I had it easy untill “Dora-in-grey”
@@Mintiy8523 ah yes that fight was brutal
My first playthrough I was the same, ended up grinding in the dungeons for a while
Hendrik, Jasper Vs Tyriant in boxing match in Erdrea

Tyriant, a.k.a, Skeletor.
name of the soundtrack please :)
Its called "distant memories" there are 2 versions
This one (synthesis version)
The other one is the orchestrated version
