  • Step one in creating a JRB Universal System ( • Introducing the JRB Un... ) is creating a MINIMAL system which can be used to execute a Doubled Stationary Rope Technique (DSRT) climb (formerly referred to as the "JRB Climbing Method"). It's just a rope and two Agilw hitches. Go to jrbtreeclimbing.com/ to select a rope and review the following:

Excellent video John. I’m waiting on my rope from RnA and only have to decide which hitch I’m going to put on it :)

That's a great approach. I have actually tied an Agile on one side and a 523 JRB Ascender on the other side and shut my eyes and tried to detect a difference and on a DSRT climb, they behave identically in ascent. Breaking is about the same. On SRT though, with 100% of our weight, Agile is noticeably harder to break and so I currently prefer Longhorn Agile on SRT. Keep your eye on the website. These vids and comments are captured in time, but the website will be updated as we evolve.

Thank you for another great video. I currently one stick, but I am considering adding the double rope and hitch climbing to my toolset. I have encountered a couple of trees I would like to climb but they are too big for my current system. I will be checking out your site for a shopping list. Do you know if RnA has a physical store? I live close to Butler. Thanks again.

Excellent. When ya one stick, you can still apply these principles of low slack. I don't like seeing one stickers getting ontop of their 1st set before they put a tether on the tree. Or allowing 4ft of slack while climbing. These are accidents waiting to happen.
Yes, RnA has a store. I visited recently to meet the entire crew. It's a top notch company with 3 generations of experience. Look em up on Google Maps. And tell em JRB sent ya. Cheers

In the process of determining my favorite hitch for both DSRT and SRT, seems you do prefer the agile with overhand and handle? Currently using the compact 5-2-3 JRB with a ring, I see my problem with the agile was I did not have a handle in it. I anticipate needing versatility in my hunting situations going into new areas

Yes, as described in the Agile video, use handles.
