I was brought here on St. David's Day via Dean Robert of Canterbury Catherdral, during morning prayers. I love making Welsh Cakes, but it is lovely to hear the wonderul Margaret John,

I grew up in England and left before metrification so I never became familiar with grams! And to make things more challenging for me - in Canada we use cups! Nice recipe - thank you.

No she didnât. No spice is needed. It is highly unlikely that original traditional Welsh cakes were made with expensive spices. They were made by farmersâ, croftersâ and minersâ wives.

Lol welsh cakes are the only thing my Mamgu (Gran) can't make properly even though she's a fab cook (That's the one thing my Mam makes better than she does xP). She either makes them too thin or over cooks them a little. I'll have to show her this video. =P

No, because she used self raising flour. Welshcakes shouldnât rise too much anyway or they develop a crumbly texture.
