Thank you for taking the time to capture these disassemblies. It really helps a lot and alleviates some DIY fears at home as well.
Thanks for watching! We are happy to help where we can!

I think it’s fantastic you guys take the time to take apart the products. It’s great to see the internals. 👍🏻🔈
Thanks for watching! We may start going back and doing the heritage internals if anyone would want to see. Stay tuned. still in the works!
-Jason
I've got 2 of these. They absolutely ROCK!
They'll shake the whole house for sure!
-Jason
I also can agree!
Damn that thing is massive! Looking forward to getting mine in the next day or two! 😃 Oh, loved the blooper!
Thanks for watching! Enjoy and let us know what you think when you hook it up!
-Jason
That is a beast!
I wouldn’t think of not using a sub. I added a one as soon as I could find one which was a BSR passive 15” in 1985 from a DAK Industries catalog. They were a discount electronics importer selling unique gear. I’ve been using the Klipsch RW10D digitally programmable sub now for 17 years. I’m able to have my surround setup paired with Synergy B3’s and a tube amp paired with Heresy 1’s able to recall the specific settings for each with the push of a button…such a convenient feature.
Nice outtake at the end. You sound like me every morning!
Thanks for watching! I'm the same way here. I've gotta have at least one sub in every system! Makes all the difference.
-Jason
I just bought a Klipsch R-10Sw and im loving it . Little beast for the price
For sure. I used one of those for several years!
-Jason
I thought I was the only crazy one taking apart my new and expensive stuff (Laptops, Speakers, Subs, Receivers, etc) 😂👍
Right there with ya! Other people just don't know how to have fun. :)
-Jason
@@PaducahHomeTheaterTV I just found 2 literally sitting out in a parking lot today. The cabinets are toast but perhaps I can get them running and build some mdf cabinets . I think it would complement my infinity CSW-10 as the hz would really give me that full sweep. Alright it's shower time , pour a drinky drink and start taking it apart and giving it a looksky.
@@Stupid_you_so_stoopid_UHF still got too many projects going on?
thats so cool that you took it apart. i love this kind of video. i have the spl 12 and i was wondering whats inside. thanks
thanks for watching
Love my SPL-150. It's not the end-all be-all of subwoofers, but does a really good job in my space. I never felt my RF-7's were lacking in bass, but adding the sub really helped round them out nicely.
Thanks for watching! They sure add that little extra umph when ya need it. :)
-Jason
So I'm going with two spl 150s paird with 8000fs. You think that's too much base?
nice work!!
Thanks and thanks for watching!
-Jason
My friend just got this sub yesterday and holy shit its loud. With 20HZ rebassed music everything is shaking in the house! I bought his old Polk Audio HTS-10 for my house to get some bass there too :) It sounds good for me. Bass response starts from around 25HZ and goes all the way up to the frequencies where my Jamo S506 towers kick in. I got the crossover set to 80HZ on the sub.
It's a pretty impressive setup! Sounds like everyone got to be happy in this transaction!
-Jason
Contest, I am up for it!!! liked#24 and subbed
Thanks for watchin! I'm not sure we will do a contest/give away the SPL-150 but, who knows! Stay tuned. anything can happen!
-Jason
Hey could you guy’s review the new klipsch r-1600sw it’s there most powerful subwoofer and it just came out btw if you guys do get it I would love to see the disassembly of it and see what it looks like.
I have 4 of these. I love em!
Awesome! Same room or multiple?
-Jason
@@PaducahHomeTheaterTV same room actually. Kind of overkill at times, but I dont regret it. Lol. Check out the video
czcams.com/video/xbKUWxkVYbc/video.html
Looks killer. Bet you're enjoying that space!
@@PaducahHomeTheaterTV lol thank you man. I appreciate that. Yea im definitely enjoying it. Not as much as I'd like to, but hey thats what happens when you have a 4 year old. Lol
wow, a beast
Thanks for watching! A beast indeed.
-Jason
I'd like to see a SVS PB-3000 next. Awesome video. I've also seen the PB-2000 PRO video.
Thanks for watching! We will see what we can do on the 3000 video! not sure when we will get to that but hopefully soon!
-Jason
@@PaducahHomeTheaterTV I’d love to see that happening :)
I have the R-115SW and the specs you read off are identical to mine. The R-115SW's, including mine had an issue with the amplifiers craping out. Of course mine did it after the warranty expired. Besides a few changes in the box construction the SPL-150 seems to be a just a R-115SW v2.0. I hope Klipsch found a better vendor for the amps. My solution was to dedicate a bridged Crown XLS 1500 in LowPass mode, and run the R-115SW as a passive.
I have that one R-115SW also and, luckily, haven’t had any problems with it. It has been in service for 3 years already; only for home theater. I do not like SWs for my stereo system.
The performance is brutal, it is a true monster; the whole house (3 levels, all brick a masonry) shakes when I turn up the volume; it’s pretty impressive.
Thanks for watching! I suppose it is a R115SW 2.0 to a degree as, it's the next 15" powered sub in the line and a couple years newer. As for reliability, I don't have any complaints to speak of on either unit. I've had my 115 for 4 or 5 years now with no complications and, while the spl150 is somewhat new, it seems like itll be running just as hard for just as long. While you seem to have found a good solution, if you decide you want to go back to powered and are skeptical of the 115 amps, I believe (please confirm with klipsch before taking my word for it) that the SPL-150 amps are in stock and will work on the 115. You may try going that route instead. :)
hope this helps!
-Jason
@@PaducahHomeTheaterTV The 150 is EXACTLY the same as the 115, don't get fooled here, Klipsch is a company and wants to earn money. However, if you don't need the wood finish there is 200 $ or more to save for the exact same Subwoofer. If you don't want to pay hundreds for just the wood finish, go for the 115.
Good stuff. With only one out put from my receiver, should I just connect my cable to the white (left) input of the subwoofer or should I get a "Y" adopter to plug into both (left and right) inputs of the Sub?
You'll typically just want to plug into the white/LFE port, yes.
-Jason
CAN YOU TELL ME THE DIMENSIONS OF THE PORT PLEASE ?
Nice video can you do a review of the svs pb-3000?
Thanks for watching! We actually plan to do the PB2000Pro next episode so we aren't leaving svs out of the equation. If we get enough requests, maybe we will to the 3000 as well. Stay tuned :)
-Jason
I had plan to buy 2 of this sub but it has very low quality electronic components, Thanks for disassembly
Completely disagree. These things are beasts. Have had the newer and older gen and never had an issue and they pound!
-Jason
@@PaducahHomeTheaterTV Anyway I built my own subwoofers 2 ultimax 18 with sealed box klipsch compare to mine is ... !
Thanks for the video,
Is it possible to change the RCA connector ? A friend of mine got on of them broken ... If I see correctly on your video there is a black glue or something ...
I'd contact Klipsch tech support.
Once I have finished completed the speaker and SPL150 subwoofer installation. I have powered on the device, only in subwoofer I could feel mild electric shock in metallic portions behind the subwoofer. Help me what to do
Honestly can't say. Thats a weird one. Too many variables and, if you're being shocked, too much risk for me to provide advice. You may want to take it into a shop if its shocking you.
-Jason
Do you know if the amp from this sub is similar to the R-115 sw. I seem to be having issues with the amplifiers and have had to replace 2 already.
I believe them to be similar but updated. They are cross compatible so you can use a 150 amp in a 115 (same with the 112 and 120), but I'm not certain on exactly what has changed between the two amps. supposedly a newer/improved version.
-Jason
Hello Jason I have a question I got those spl 150,they make a noise where the are comes out, maybe a carpet
Thanks for watching! Noise can be a variety of things. Based on your description it sounds like chuffing. Is it only at certain frequencies? Have you checked to make sure nothing is caught in the port?
-Jason
Thanks for the video, Mark Casavant of Klipsch had mentioned around CES 2017 that there would be a matching subwoofer with the same furniture grade wood veneers to accompany the flagship Reference RF-7 III/RC-64 III models, I guess the idea was eventually scrapped & also back in May 2020 Jill Escol of Klipsch had mentioned that they had a killer subwoofer nicknamed "The Beast" coming to rival SVS but that too it seems has been cancelled :( In the video description you accidentally mention "Today lets get into the Klipsch RP-504C" should be corrected to SPL-150 :)
I honestly can't say/don't know anything about the rumored beast. It would be awesome to see something come through but, only Klipsch themselves know what's going on there. I can say though, that the production process can take a while, especially with what these last couple of years have brought. From concept, to creation, to testing to final product, it can sometimes be several years. Hopefully we see something soon though!
Also, thanks for the catch! Fixed the description. :)
-Jason
I won't be spending any more money for a while (a pair of RP600Miis and an R34C within the past month along with next summer's vacation) but I eventually want to replace my subwoofer that came packaged as a 5.1 system with tiny satellites. All other things being equal, how much difference does pure power make? My sub has a 10" woofer and I was shocked to find it only has 65 watts of juice to push out the sound. Also, it it better to get two smaller subs or one big one?
Very dependent on the sub and the design. I would look at the spec sheet of each you're interested in and see what that power does on paper and in room. The wattage printed on the side of the box unfortunately doesnt tell the whole story.
-Jason
Hi, I have a SPL-150 subwoofer. Would the new 16 inch by klipsch be a noticeable difference for me to upgrade.
the new ones are more accurate / less colored. yes.
*Why doesnt it have a heat sink? so it will probably burn up of used at high volume for over 45 min?*
I have used this, as well as its predecessor at very high volumes for *much* longer than that...never had an issue with overheating..
-Jason
I just hope they start making them with walnut exterior, so I can match them with my '94 Klipschorns.
We will see! Been a while since we've seen anything but black on these.
-Jason
Just revisit here because I just buy my 2nd to my house for my home theater setup. But unfortunately my theater room is still maintenance 🥹 I hope my two spl-150 will shake my house soon
Good luck! I was a bit late to reply. Hopefully by now they are back up and running!
-Jason
Does anybody know the voice coil size on this?
I'm sorry but I can't say. Klipsch doesnt seem to specify the exact size.
-Jason
Is it me or around the 8:40 mark the screw holes look dug out?
Are you talking about the 4 indentations in the cutout? The screw holes were normal, but there are indentations around the circle which I assume are guides of some sort to help the driver set in correctly.
-Jason
@@PaducahHomeTheaterTV yes sir , but I can see what you're talking about now.
Is this sub as good as they say, I'm getting 2 instead of the ones I have the r 120 SW?
I love these. I have one of this version and one of the previous. I use both almost daily and they are awesome.
-Jason
@@PaducahHomeTheaterTV thanks for the info
I had a 20 year old RSW 15 in my FR7 surround system. A couple years ago I bought the 70th Anniversary La Scala II for my main listening room. I keep hearing rumors about a new sub from Klipsch often referred to as the Beast. I have been holing out on buying a sub for the La Scallas until this comes out. Am I waiting for something that is not coming.
I have been waiting too. I’m giving it one more year and I am going with another brand.
It will come. When we don’t know tho. It’s meant to battle the SVS PB 16 Ultra as I understand it.
Fellow Klipsch owner here, Klipsch makes some damn good speakers but their subs aren't all that. I would just get an SVS sub. They are probably the best sub you can buy for the money.
I honestly can't say/don't know anything about the rumored beast. It would be awesome to see something come through but, only Klipsch themselves know what's going on there. I *can* say though, that the production process can take a while, especially with what these last couple of years have brought. From concept, to creation, to testing to final product, it can sometimes be several years. Hopefully we see something soon though! You know though, if and when we see something come through, we will get it in, make a video, and share with you guys!

Klipsch subs are the best@@bigelile07
what is the difference between the spl 150 and the sw 115?
Thanks for watching! For the most part, it's just a newer version of the same unit. The amp I believe was updated and possibly retuned and there were some cosmetic changes between the two.
-Jason
@@PaducahHomeTheaterTV thank you :)
I wonder what the sub impedance was.
Don't believe Klipsch posts it and I did not check. I'll see what I can find out next time I pull one apart though.

It's the Best Deal now at $599 on Amazon. But if you spending $1,200 the REL Predator 15" or Definitive Technology DN15 with 3XR or 3 Woofers & HSU 15" the King, All are $1200 and high end shake the neighbor's house not just your house at real high quality 20HZ. It's like you want the Car's Jr $8 Burger or the $20 Steakhouse Burger..... For a house party or playing Rap & Rock music just get the Klipsch SPL 15
A $1,200 is a pretty cheap sub to be honest. We have $10,000 subs. :)
I just wonder, are there other subs that can offer more at a smaller size. This thing looks gigantic.
It is gigantic, and very heavy, but it’s so worth it.
It's for sure a monster. It's large...it's heavy...but man ...it sounds great!
-jason
the deeper sounds you want, the larger it gotta be :))
id think itd be more beefier based on how it sounds
The thing for sure packs a punch!

peccato che non puoi comandarlo con una app per il cellulare, la SVS lo permette
Yeah, maybe in the next generation? We will see.

Really don't like the natural wood texture. They should make piano black available.
