      @@Saoirse3797 she’s not a dermatologist and she spreads a lot of misinformation unfortunately. Her info about chemical sunscreens, which Dr Dray calls out here, is just bad and she encourages a lot of her viewers to fear actives and instead opt for inactive derivatives that are unproven (like retinoic acid vs retinyl palmitate)

    • @whitepaper5241
      @whitepaper5241 Před 3 lety +17

      @@idreamofpeony yeah. Not only that. She also tells us to avoid glycolic acid because it can worsen hyperpigmentation on skin of color. There's no data that shows that. She also consistently recommends expensive products, as if cheap products aren't effective at all. I don't like it when influencers use the word "skin of color" or "people of color" to spread misinformation for their advantage. Most active ingredients are effective at treating skin problems, no matter what your skin color is.

    I've been using the Eucerin DermatoClean cleansing gel for a few years now. Don't know if it goes by the same name in the US as it does in the EU. Super gentle, basic, few ingredients. Love it. And it's also cheap (at least here). From your videos I get the impression that Eucerin is not that popular in the US, not really on the top of people's list when choosing skincare brands which is a shame. The packaging is nothing special, no fragrance in most products, so there's no ''experience'' that people look for in their ''skincare ritual''. Unfortunately wrong thinking. Most of their products are gentle and great for sensitive skin and get the job done.

    I'm a guy who's a pretty big fan of the Cremo line; I use each of the products Dr Dray looked at here, for general moisturization and maintenance. The face moisturizer + sunscreen sitting to the right there is really nice too. They are a smaller brand though and there's not a lot of review material about them. Glad to know Dr Dray thinks they look legit, albeit just from glancing at the ingredients. Thank you!

    So, that Peach Slices company is interesting. It has some really nice products, a good selection of fragrance free. Then, they also have a lot of the no-no products: peel off masks, serum with gold in it for some reason, and I think they have a glitter mask. But their snail repair line is intriguing, especially the moisturizer.

    Nice vlog! Here in Norway hydroquinone has been banned in OTC products for several years. The EU banned it in 2004, and Norway followed swiftly after. You may get it as a prescription. It is listed as a potential carcinogen, and also because of the risk of skin irritation, allergies and risk of ochronosis - which I guess is counter productive when you want to get rid of hyper pigmentation...

    • @bnb0510

I have been dealing with post-menopausal cystic acne for the past couple of years, & OTC azelaic acid has been some helpful (but slow), so knowing about these other options/good products for adding to the arsenal against post-acne inflammation & hyperpigmentation is invaluable. I honestly would really like to see you try some of the well-reviewed vitamin c products on the market that other ppl recommend for their efficacy despite not being the skinceuticals c e ferulic. Its just not realistic that most ppl can afford to buy that product so it would be more helpful to see you actually give your review after trying some on your hyperpigmentation...tho tbh I've never seen you struggle with this skin condition in your videos 😂
