As a person who has been depressed for over 20 years now, and on and off meds for almost as long, the first time I heard Johann Hari speak was like a light bulb moment. I think it was one of his TED talks where he relayed the cow antidepressant. It all made so much sense.
I'm still a work in progress, but I now have an explanation for why some times in were life were less depressed than others, and it has nothing to do with medication, but with people, a sense of belonging, and of being understood.
