- In this video, we go into detail about the various measurements that can be carried out on an electric motor or stator. We use the training modules from LN as well as our model of the VW ID4 front drive.
In the video we deal with the measurement of the insulation resistance as well as the measurement of the coil resistance and the inductance of the coils. With these measured values it is possible to determine whether the stator is fine or defective.
Please excuse the blurred picture at the beginning, must have been due to the person. ;)

Great job 🙌🏼❤️ support from Morocco 🇲🇦🙏🏼
Thank you so much Rachid!
One of the best explanations related to EV in CZcams. Thanks keep up the good work by teaching us. Addition to this can you give a brief about how model based development in EV works.
Thank you very much :) Could you please specify your request, what exactly you would like to know more about.
Thank you Chris, stupid question ⁉️ why the resistance of the coil is too low I was expecting something higher!
There is no stupid question. :) Can you give me the timestamp you are refering to? In general, the ohmic resistance of the coil, speaking of the resistance of the wire itself, should be as low as possible in order to avoid losses and thermal heat-up. The "resistance", which is "high" for a coil is the "inductive resistance".
Nice summary and cool lab! :) For your question if this star or delta motor. I think it is star because at line-to-line inductance measurement of motor we were getting the same or similar values which is the case in star connection. But i am also not sure if the star connection is so popular in asynchronous motor.
Thanks for your message Vugar! And you are absolutely correct, it is very hard to tell. Acutally, we have sent the question to VW. ;) If the coils are fine, you should always message the same values across the stator. The absolute values will just differ from star to delta, even if you are using the same coils due series (star) and series parallel connection (delta). So from our point of view, it is very hard to say, which connection is used.
Nice 👍
Thanks Vijayakumar!
If a motor was repaired meaning rewound, new bearings, dipped and baked but is pulling high amps when running ,
what could be the problem ???
what test can tell me what the problem is ???
Thank you for your question! This is a tough one, but I will forwarded to an expert friend of us. Give us some time, to get the answer for you :)
Hello dear,
do i need to change the gearbox oil?
Здравствуйте Улугбек Расулов,
There is no need to change the oil. Just take care that the gearbox is sealed. If not, then of course the oil level needs to be checked and maybe refilled.
@@InsideEVTraining does this apply to all electric vehicles?
Well, you can never tell for 100%, but as the complexity is much less compared to a classical automatic transmission or DCT, I would say that every car manufacturer does not expect an oil change within a gearbox of an EV.
@@InsideEVTraining thank you very much bro.
