  • Hold on tight and bring out the popcorn, this has been a video in the making for four months now. I have been dying to test and see which intakes make the most power. Which is why I've been running K&N drop in filters for the longest time now. I made this video to help inform the Z community the best way I possibly could.

  • @07wrxtr1

    Heads up: For cleaning/refreshing - the K&N filter cleaner spray works wonders for those that live in the SW where you get that finer powder like sand in the air + the separate oil that comes in a can that you can spray from K&N (they do not come together in a kit). I've found that combo to work really well. I didn't like/enjoy the bottle of oil methodology (this is the cleaning kit)...so get the spray (they make you buy separately), as it's much easier to get even with using the correct amount in order to avoid any MAF issues down the road.
    I drove through monument valley in a crazy wind storm (apocalypse mad max style!) - When I got home, the next day, popped the front bumper and both intakes were just covered. No amount of washing in the sink or even using a bucket/water method really got them super clean. Using the K&N spray cleaner, then letting them sit for about 15 mins, then back in the bucket with water = looked like new again!
    Then let sit in sun to dry out for a hour or so, then hit with a light coat of K&N oil spray conditioner

    I’ve tried z1 and stillen gen 3 intakes, definitely good intake system, but it is a little bit more difficult and time consuming to install. One intake that I’m trying right now is the k&n air intake system with the heat shield, and tbh with you it’s actually quite good, because the heat shield does quite a good job, and there so much gap for air to flow in from the bottom.

    • @Will-xp6jh
      @Will-xp6jh Před 5 lety +9

      Throw the K&N kit in the trash and go back to long tubes. I had the K&N and then switched to Z1. My oil temp was 5-7 degrees cooler and stayed lower when riding it hard. They make more power and they keep your car cooler. There's nothing beneficial to the K&N other than price. They heat soak quickly and then you're losing power.

      @johnnyboi5661 Před 5 lety

      I do not care for your opinion, each intake was tuned individually. To produce the perfect AFR’s. We did multiple dyno pulls. If you know anything about dyno numbers. Not every pull on the dyno will show consistent numbers. Since air temperatures and humidity levels fluctuate. A lot of tuners like to show false gains. By providing the lowest Dyno numbers for before and the highest numbers after. Making it easy to manipulate people into believing 3” intakes are better.

      The PCV is on all VQHR/VHR cars, usually you do a PCV delete when you run 3” intakes. If not you can always get a catch can.

    Admin is the only 3in product that does not utlize the PCV inlet.... EVERY other 3in product utilizes it... so to correct... thats not a con to go 3in but a con to go ADMIN. quick resolution to that is to just put on two breather filters from your local parts store. cutting the core support is not a con for 3in intakes but to ALL intakes. cut is a cut... regardless of how big it is...

      if you don't want to cut the core support you can just purchase the admin intakes without the metal tubes( and its cheaper ) that go through the core support and use silicone 3 inch couplers from z1 or injen.

      simple solution get a oil catch can. Plus the 3inch intakes are pointless with the stock Throttle body's if you really want to get the full power you gotta upgrade the TB to 70mm plus it been proven the Admin one put the most power out of the 3 when its tune by Moncef Faik

      There’s really no need to test out Upton’s intakes. They should perform pretty similar to the admins. Kinda like how the Z1’s were just as good if not better than the Stillen Gen 3’s.

    Just make your own. Chop the stock air box and leave about an inch or so from the maf holder. Add piping of your choice and some Apexi filters place them directly behind the front grill. You are done, the sizing / silicone hoses blah blah blah make negligible gains. Have the car fitted with test pipes only and get a tune. All the other crap is just simply a waste of money

    Ok.. Soooooooooo.. that's a lot of money only to drop the stock horsepower from 332 to 329 and up your torque from the stock 271 to 282 a +11 gain for over 2000 dollars in parts not labor.. I'm not sure that's worth the money my guy.. It's really hard to squeeze power out of a non aspirated engine.. I ran some 3-in exhaust on my 96 z and lost low end torque. I snatched those things off the next day.. my horse power went from 222 HP stock down to 156 hp.. Wasn't worth with it, lost 800 bucks for nothing.. want more power ?
