Why River Plate and Boca Juniors Hate Each Other: Boca vs River Superclásico | Roots of the Rivalry
El Superclásico is one of - if the THE biggest football rivalries, if not THE biggest rivalry in world football, pitting up Argentina’s two greatest teams in a classic football derby: River Plate vs Boca Juniors. In this Roots of the Rivalry video, we’ll look at the history of El Superclasico, as well as the foundational history of River Plate and the foundational history of Boca Juniors. On top of this, we look at how Boca Juniors and River Plate fans or “hinchas” behave, and if Argentina is the birthplace of football hooliganism (history of hooliganism, history of football ultras), ahead of the historic Copa Libertadores Final!

Rabona TV What's the song that played throughout the video and at the end card??
Movidag I think you need to turn comment notification on because I've told you a couple times. 😄It's called "Water Please".
Rabona TV Oh, sorry, my notifications can be dodgy sometimes, thanks for being patient at least
@@RabonaTV do roots of manchester derby please
English clubs rivalries are cute to Argentinians
Which is bad, im an argentinian :(
@Chris Francelli Because there's so much violence and hooliganism involved. It's shit for the non-hooligan fans who just wanna have fun and cheer for their team.
People dying cool francelli
Being more civil doesn't mean less intense
Amar Akbar Anthony on u
Another interesting fact why this Super-Clasico is so historic is the fact that this is the last time that the Libertadores final will be determined by playing two games, one "home" and one "away" game.
The format will change next year to be like the Champions League final with one game played at a predetermined stadium.
It just makes this Super-Clasico even more important for these clubs.
Vamos River carajo!!!
This year's Copa Libertadores is gonna be amazing.
This didn’t age well
Big Poppa 😂😂
Awkward
Amazingly embarrassing for Argentine football 😂
River bus has a new air conditioning system.
Excellent!!! I am from Argentina. River's fan, and I congratulate your job. Well done
oh solamente entendí RiBer pero ok!!!
The rivalry also comes from the way both teams try to play.
Boca is more guts.
River is about quality.
Well Said!👍
You could do several:
Flamengo - Fluminense
Racing Club - Independiente
San Lorenzo - Huracan
@Marcos Leahy Corinthians x Palmeiras rivalry is way bigger
Rosario Central - Newells Old Boys.
Man I cant wait for the game I dont really watch south american football but I have to see this
This is the game to watch. Both teams with great talent and the atmosphere is unlike any other.
Same here, can't wait!
Yess, it's a pity that won't be visitants in the stadiums, only locals but I understand that is for security
Santos vs Sao Paulo is better!! BRAZILIAN Football
Chelsea Lazer this match will be out of this world. Especially in the monumental stadium. Don’t expect clean fouls and fair play. I’m certain that won’t happen
Great video Adrian. I'm a Independiente fan, but no matter the fanbase we are all gonna be hooked to the TV to watch these historic games. Tommorow's first leg is gonna paralyze the city and the whole country, it's gonna be crazy! Keep up the good work man, really enjoy your content! Love from Buenos Aires!
This video has no truth
I heard when i was a kid that River and Boca kinda had the same color outfit/ kit. They had a match for it, loser has to pick a new outfit/ kit. Boca lost and said that the next ship, arriving at the harbor, they would adopt their flag in to the new kit. It was a Swedish ship.
It was Racinhg.
This is what I was asking for !!!! Thanks for all the work you put on it. So excited for tomorrow!!
I think the Clasico Rosarino (Rosario Central - Newell's) derby from Argentina would make an interesting video. It's the 2nd most heated rivalry in the country behind these two. Cheers!
A nadie le importa newells central afuera del país
Racing Club vs Independiente de Avellaneda
sqdmarcos yo creo q el segundo más importante es el de avellaneda
Yes... Also the avellaneda and córdoba derbies!

Man thanks for this history lesson on the clubs I never knew how they came to be I knew they hated each other but never knew why...now I do. Awesome vid
River plate for eternity!!🐔🔴⚪️🔴 vamos carajo! #muñecoGallardo
I love this series Adrian!!! Keep it up
Great video I’ll be watching this amazing match 😱😱
Amazing video!! Thank you my friend!! Canada for ever!!
i suggested this video
This was quite a good video, as an Argentinian, and a San Lorenzo fan I have to say I really am looking forward to this game. Two days left and I just have to root for River. BOKITA HIJITOS NUESTROS A VER COMO LES VA!
les rompimos el orto!! jajajajaa y va el tercerooooo goooooooooool! vamos river!
Im glad to see this Super Clasico is attracting interest outside the Latino World.
This Super Clasico represents much more than a football match derbi.
Social/political and economics are heavily involved.
We hope the final on the 24th will showcase the best of the Argentine Football whinch undoubtedly is the passion their fans show with no concessions.
Vamos River!!!
Just subscribed. Roots of the rivalry is a great series. Any chance of some coverage of the old firm derby please ?
Great video. I'm a BENFICA ultra but would love to see a video on Torcida 1950 from hadjuk split. Thanks and please keep the videos coming ! Cheers
Nice content. Especially the history part.
Yes! Adrian made this video! Looking for El Superclasico!
Subscribed... great video 👍
Keep the good work going
Good video.
I would've underlined the fact that Boca Juniors is way closer to its italian roots than River (the nickname 'Xeneises' literally means 'People from Genoa' in Genoa's dialect)
Good work my friend.i'm a Celtic and Boca fan😉
Nice video! Could you make one about the Istanbul rivalry between galatasaray - fenerbahçe - beşiktaş
My family comes from Bari and Genoa, so I'll be rooting for River Plate for sure! Greetings from the U.S.!
Can you make a video on North London Derby... Would love to watch it
Good work man. Love your Roots of the Rivalry videos. Just an FYI. The Croatian team you refer to around the 9:50 mark (Hajduk) is pronounced (Haaydook). The J in Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian, etc. is always pronounced as a Y. Not trying to be rude or anything, just pointing it out for future reference.
No football rivalries come close to this
Greatest of all
You're amazing bro
Great video simply loved it.
Please make der klassiker, liverpool vs manchester united
Iam from Argentina. Boca Jrs. fan since 5 years old. They called us Bosteros because our field had to be lifted and leveled with more soil and manure to make the grass grow and avoid the flood of rainy days.
La diferencia de títulos locales es de 8 no de 3, lo que ocurre que como voka maneja la afa pidió contar los títulos amateurs, para que no haya tanta diferencia. River el más grande de America.
INFORMATIONAL FOOTBALL VIDEO OF THE YEAR.
Do one for the Revierderby.
Borussia Dortmund vs FC Schalke 04
U.S - no football culture- This why the have the blue&yellow colors-!As Boca Juniors lost the match, the club had to choose other colors for its uniform. As a port worker himself, former club's president Juan Brichetto suggested to adopt the colors of the flag of the first ship he allowed to cross on the following morning. As the first ship that crossed the bridge was Swedish, Boca Juniors adopted the blue and yellow (gold) as institutional colors.[30] It is believed that it was the 4146-ton freighter "Drottning Sophia", a Swedish vessel sailing from Copenhagen, although other historians say that the Drottning Sophia did not arrived to Buenos Aires in 1907 but in 1905. The ship that gave it colors to Boca Juniors would have probably been the Oskar II of Nordstjernan/Johnson Line, arriving to the port on February 5, 1907.[31]
Now I think I will watch Copa Libertordes this week after understanding their rivalry.
I would absolutely love it if u could make a video on the fiercest indian derby ...between mohun bagan and east bengal it's the greatest infian rivalry dating more than a century
Sourya Chatterjee that featured in world soccer magazine a few months ago
Outstanding
VAMOS RIVERRRRR! SO GLAD THEY WON THAT SUPERCLASICO LIBERTADORES FINAL!
Boca Juniors 💙💛 pride of Buenos Aires 🇦🇷🇦🇷
Dated video, you should update it talking about the biggest final ever.
River Plate ❤️❤️❤️
River Plate amor eterno!!!!
Great video any chance of one on the North London rivalry, Arsenal Vs Tottenham
Great video The surname bosteros came because in the ancient stadium of Carbonera Wilson used to be a Municipal garage of carruages for picking trash
Awesome. Try n make a video on East Bengal vs Mohun bagan, the Kolkata derby, the fiercest rivalry in Asia. It's the nativists vs the immigrants. Though India is not much known for football, this rivalry is something else. Try to make videos on lesser known rivalries as well apart from the famous ones.
lol 😂😂😂
I'd like you to cover the Dundee, Dundee United rivalry also the Dundee Hibernian origins and brief history. Well you did ask! I' m from Dundee and I've never unravelled it. Cmon Dundee Harp.
RIVER PLATE ⚪🔴⚪🇮🇩
What is the name of the backing tune that keeps appearing? It sounds so familiar
Fascinating, great job, sir. However, Eggs (Huevos) is also a reference to ones testicles or "balls". Hence, "this chicken run is closed for lack of BALLS".
Again, great work.
Subscribed
He did clarify that, he said "eggs meaning guts"
Great video but it was Scottish (not English) railroad workers that first introduced football to Argentina. Hence the earliest league titles being contested by teams like St Andrews and Old Caledonians. Gradually other British nations began to influence the sport but Alec Lamont and Alexander Watson Hutton are largely recognised as the grandfathers of football in Buenos Aires/Argentina.
I think you mean British*
Could you do one on the Old Firm derby?
I'm actually working on it now!
Please make a rivalry video on East Bengal and Mohun Bagan-The best Derby in Asia(probably)
Do one vid on Peñarol - Nacional! The Uruguayan rivalry
Can you do one as an “early Derby’s” in the MLS? LAFC vs LA Galaxy, and NYRB vs NYCFC... perhaps how the young derby in each came about, where they are currently at and where they can end up in the future??
Hudson Derby is pretty young and other than arguement of geography, we're all mostly New Yorkers. Born, and bred in the city, we're gonna take issues on stands. Same way Yankees vs. Mets, Knicks now with the Nets being in our city. Rangers and Islanders, I would include Jets and Giants but they don't even play in the state, though they do represent the greater New York Metropolitan area (same way the NYRB do).
You should do a Tottenham v. Arsenal video.. and a Olympiakos v. Panathinaikos vid
What's the song playing at thr end credits? Does anyone know?
9:25 Lemmy is a time traveler. I knew it! (far left)
Do a documentary on Millwall (my team) v West Ham, rivalry in England, linked to dock workers and a jam factory. Millwall and West Ham have Scottish roots.
I'd like to see a take on the quartet rivalry in São Paulo's and RJ's teams. São Paulo with Corinthians x Palmeiras x São Paulo x Santos (well you could take out Santos so it's just about city rivalry). In Rio with Flamengo x Fluminense x Vasco x Botafogo. Probably FlaFlu is more prominent.
Facts
I I had to choose one of these teams it’ll be boca juniors
CABJ!
BOCA!!!!💖💖💖
Do a video of Flamengo vs Fluminense (FLAxFLU).
Does anyone know where I can watch these games??
wiz1.net 720p streams for free ...I'll watch from Pakistan
Rojadirectatv.tv or mamahd.org
Reddit rate/soccerstreams
Fox Sports maybe
there are some guys putting the match live on twitch, labeled as "fifa 2018", try to watch it there
You should do the old firm next
The pronunciation of Hajduk Split is rather similar to "hi-duke" FYI. Maybe u should make a video about the Balkan rivalries too
After what happened yesterday , you can really see why there is a HUUUGEEEE rivalrie between us .
I think you didn´t mention an important fact of rivalry. River Plate likes lyrical passing game (paladar negro)football meanwhile Boca is only interested in winning, playing hard, takling and fighting.
I like/dislike Boca because when my family first got satellite tv I remember watching game from Argentina and always seeing Boca....But they also beat my childhood club America in the Libertadores...but Boca fans are amazing.
Do ahly vs zamalek next!
Make a video on Seville derby between Sevilla and Real Betis
Can you please do a video about the Galatasaray vs. Fenerbahce derby?
Make a video on Asia's biggest rivalry of Mohun Bagan vs East Bengal, two of the oldest Indian clubs and the rivalry being the fiercest with social-political and cultural importance.. It's huge just look for it
You should do the old firm
Great vid, btw Gallinas is pronounced ga-Jee-nass, the double L in Spanish makes a J sound
In Castellano* not necessarily all Spanish dialects pronounce it that way
sqdmarcos wow that’s crazy, I grew up thinking that that LL is pronounced like that in all Spanish speaking countries. Thanks for the correction
@@sqdmarcos Plus, its pronounced as "sh" in Rioplatanese dialects (Argentina, Uruguay).
Please do Hamburg SV vs St. Pauli
Rosario central is the original barra brava. Also you should look at rosario central and newells as a Derby. Its wild. It means more off the pitxh than on
from a boca fan, this video is pretty accurate. but the problem is that you didnt mention the tie in libertadores encounters since 1960 (creation of Copa Libertadores). Saturday it's a really important date for the whole country.
2004 - Boca passed
2015 - Conmebol decided to give River the game because of an incident with pepper spray.
if someone told you about diego's death when you commented this. What would your reaction be?
@@FahadKhan-yy5dj i wouldnt believed it
@@germangomez9978 He will always be remembered. Don diego.🥺
Can you do Brighton vs Crystal Palace
'Superer'than the clasico you see
Palmeiras x Corinthians. The biggest rivalry in Brazil!!
TheLuca2210 Santos vs Sao Paulo!!
Fla-Flu is the biggest!!
No es gremio y internacional el más grande rivalidad en Brasil?
Just a note: Racing is said in spanish, so it sounds "rah-cing"
No it is not, Racing it's and english so you say it in english, if you say "Rah-cing" then you're saying it wrong
Rasin.
‘Not my main area of research..’ the whole video is just reading the wiki page so i’m not sure what you meant by that
You should do Al Ahly and Zamalek in Egypt!
8:01 "This chicken run is closed for lack of eggs" is a double entendre very common in Argentine Spanish... it doesn't mean "eggs" but "balls"....lack of balls and not the football kind :D Overall good video, thanks for sharing!
Actually, the first "hincha" was from Uruguay, and he supported Nacional. At the very beginning of the 20th century (in the very 1900 if I'm not mistaken) he was the only spectator on the stands to shout and sing during the matches, encouraging the team to go forward. His actual job was to inflate the balls before the matches, and in Spanish "to inflate" translates into "hinchar", hence the names "hincha" and "hinchada".
By the way, Nacional-Peñarol is a fantastic rivalry to investigate
Siempre un uruguayo mendigando atención jaja y queriendo atribuirse de cosas sos patético
Do aston villa vs Birmingham city. Please
Can I request a video about Ajax Amsterdam and Feyenoord Rotterdam? :D
do Palmeiras vs corinthians
What are the chants at the beginning? Does anyone know?

BT SPORT 2 10th November 8PM GMT🇬🇧
Two teams same city hate each other so much. I can't imagine hating a Miami team as a Miami Citizen... Interested to learn if when Argentina plays the people that hate the players from the other team so much when playing for their clubs find it in their hearts to root for them when wearing the Argentine blue white and black. 🤔
Aguante River Plate!!
El mas grande lejos.
Me verás volver y te arrodillaras ante mi! ! Voca sos un invento del periodismo, la mentira se acabo y quedo demostrado en Madrid quien es mas grande ante los ojos del mundo, vamos River!!
