Obsessed Garage Civic Si Build Part 1

- We take Matt's Civic Si and recreate what he wanted to do back in the 2000 when this car was first produced.
We changed the power train to a B18C Type R JDM Spec motor and trans.
To add a little power without taking away from the OEM feel, we bumped the compression a little , added Skunk2 Tuner 2 cams, Skunk2 springs, retainers and LMAs. Matt had already installed exhaust and header already supplied were kept in place.
We did added a custom Titanium Cold air intake to the build also.
The plan was for an OEM Plus build, while keeping the OEM feel, dependability and daily drive-a-ability alive to run on 93 octane .

Yes. We used to do tons of these. These Civics used to be everywhere, now considered a collector car. Crazy how time flys.

I've been waiting patiently for this phase of the build on this EM1. You know your car is in good hands when they wax your subframe. Lol. LHT's attention to detail is second to none. I bet John and George have done 100s of B Series swaps since 96. Phenomenal work as always. Looking forward to part 2!

It takes two Johns to do a motor swap. George is just as knowledgeable as John. No wonder John is so good to him!

Those hydrophobic pre-filter sleeves are wonderful and I recommend them to anyone running a filter low in their car like this. I have a Filterwears in my car and my filter under it still looks brand new.
Beautiful build. Love that it’s been kept period-correct with the B with mild mods for a great result.

Wow, top quality work and parts!! Can’t wait to finish my Integra GSR! Putting Skunk2 tuner 1 cams, Lmas, dual valve springs and Ti retainers, and Toda cam gears, etc... Can’t wait to hear it run!
That’s a good combo. Some people forget that larger cams add lots of noise and valve train wear. We’ve used Tuner 1 and 2s for 50k miles and had great success with them.

Just hearing the good old honda at start up brings back so many memories. And there is nothing like a clean NA music to your ears.
My favorite car still nowadays is my 2000 plum DC2. I like it more than my actual 10th gen SI.

I had a shop called Fowler in Columbus Ohio do a B18C head for B20 vtec build, and like yours the machined surface was like glass! I think he said they used stone to polish them. They specialize in crazy HP tractor pulling engines.

This civic is so clean and that stock motor is pretty. Its a shame to yank out, but at the sametime its a good thing.. that b16 is loud and fun but so gutless. Im glad its still gonna be a b series.. they sound so much better than k

They make a fix for the hood release that is made out of metal that attaches with a set screw if your plastic hood release breaks, but you still have the cable down there. I've used it and it works nicely

The tip that I recently got from Power Nation is to put the bolts on with the part(s) missing.
You can buy aluminum hood latch you can screw on. On ebay. Replaced mine and works everytime

When you use the Honda Bond, do you let it dry for a little while before putting the pan on? Just to make the seal?

My moroso oil pan wouldn't fit with that type r brace also i had to use gsr braces on my 98 spec b18c

The amount of rare Spoon and JDM parts on this car is insane, he has 3 sets of super expensive and rare rims including the Spoon Sw388's... THe Titanium lugs are 800 alone..

Yes, it would need tuning slightly. The compression is only around 11.3 to 1
