During the war, look at what systems was imposed, the russians were fighting through the mud, both sides in the Eastern Conflict were scared! They both were on the brink of defeat and death. So when soldiers or peasents would sabotage or desert the lines, they would get put into Gulags(Russians) or get shot by a firing squad (Germans). So you cannot really blame anyone on their actions on soldier discipline.

I.V.Stalin say: It would be wrong to think that it is possible to achieve such a significant cultural growth in society without major changes in the current labor situation. To do this, first of all to reduce the time until at least 6, and then to 5 hours. This is to ensure that the members of society get enough free time necessary to obtain a comprehensive education. To do this, then, to introduce universal compulsory polytechnical education needed in order to members of the public had the opportunity to freely choose a profession and not be shackled for life to any one occupation. To do this, continue to radically improve living conditions and raise the real wages of workers and employees at least twice, if not more, both by directly raising money wages and, especially, by further systematic reduction of prices for consumer goods. These are the main conditions of preparation of the transition to communism ...

I was actually surprised. Surprised in certain desapproval.
This song and this video does not glorify those who held their ground in a dying city for approx. two years. There is no credit for the people who starved to death, who had to eat bread that used to consist over 60% of grinded wood. Stalingrad city was without a doubt THE hardest battle zone through the entire WW2, yet I see no reference to that glory in this song.
The "Primo Victoria" song, though, hails the Normandy operation beyond godlike. That song itself sounds glorious - but the operation itself was in no way the core event of WW2. It was a somewhat desperate attemt of "Allies" governments to get a hold of participation on this entire war - simply to perform some semi-legit claim upon reparations after the War was over.
The entire WW2 was full of disgrace and betrayal. The reason is simple: Germany was encouraged a lot by the "Allies" before the War actually started. Axis and USSR were actual allies in 38-39, but "Allies" were gravely afraid of this union and therefore they spent over two years corrupting A.H. to disregard any former agreements and engage USSR. This literal betrayal happened mostly on behalf of Great Britain.
And that betrayal was the exact reason of over 30 million casualties in USSR >ALONE

    • @MainstreamPoPsucks3
      @MainstreamPoPsucks3 Před 10 lety +3

Germany and the soviet union were never allies, they had the Molotov-ribbentrop pactfrom 1939 which was only a non aggression pact and Germany and the soviets were supposed to divide The baltic states and Poland between Germany and the soviets.
This was in no way an alliance.
The reasons why Hitler invaded the soviet union in 1941 was because they needed resources to continue the war, thats why crimea and Caucasus were strategic points for the german. The lebenraum ideology of Hitler and the threat of a soviet invasion, some modern historians believe that if Hitler didn't invade the soviet union, the soviets would have invaded Germany.
Stalingrad had to be taken and held in order to let Caucasus army take the oilfields in Majkop,Grozny and Baku in the caucasus. It was very important to get the oil in order to be able to continue the war. It also has some propaganda reasons but they were probably a lot less important. After the german 6th army got encircled at Stalingrad, Hitler refused to let the 6th army surrender. Maybe because of "fight to the last man and die bravely for your country" mentality, but the army in the caucasus was withdrawing, for that reason they had to hold out.If the 6th army just surrendered at once they would all have been take prisoners by the soviets and the army in the caucasus would locked in the caucasus. The 6th army surrendered in January 1943 and they would have suffered the same fate anyway if they surrendered earlier.
Their was certainly no glory or honour about the battle of Staligrad. Only good men losing their lives on both sides, cities and villages being completely destroyed and innocent civillians starving and suffering.People losing their homes, people freezing to death, corpses of soldiers and civiilians everywhere. Its even theories about the soviets using poisonous gas against the germans.
I can't see how there is any glory in this or any other war.

There is a difference between acts of war. I don't think you can in sound mind compare what happened in, say, France in WW2 with the lone blockaded city that stood under siege for almost two years. Refusing to give up, dying from starvation but still standing ground is exactly what is called Glory. Those who did not fall under such dire circumstances are exactly what we all should aim to be.
The M&R Pact you've mentioned is the exact reason why Britain and Co went squirming. Should such pact still hold, world would be divided in two colossal parts long ago. And I honestly don't think it could be worse than what we have now.

In my eyes we should be gratefull Sabaton raises questions in people and we should be happy a comment box allows people to ask questions and debate about Politics.
Cause is learning about the two Massive wars not extremely important, should they be forgotten, should people not learn about politics from every mans view? Communists, Nazis, Capitalists, Socialists and treehuggers alike?
I find it annoying people feel the need to always complain.
As I said you don't have to read it. Freechoice

I've always held the opinion that the major turning point of World War 2 didn't come in the form of the United States joining the conflict, but when Hitler tried and failed to invade the Soviet Union. Before Stalingrad the Wehrmacht knew nothing but victory, after they knew nothing but defeat.

In a way your right even when the Soviets were being pushed back it was all part of Stalin’s plan hold the line until he could prepare a massive counter attack and that’s what happened the Soviets held out until winter and by that point the Soviets had won. But at the same time the US joining the war was a major turning point to but more for the western and pacific fronts than for the eastern front.

@AI88CZ And I am mot biased at all - my one grandfather fought for germany, the other for britain. It is just what it is. If you look at Stalingrad eg - 200 000 germans encircled by 3 000 000 russians (refer Max Hastings's excellent book) - typical example. The alied advance into Italy (in which my maternal grandfather participated) was held up by a few divisions of german paratroopers. Go and have a look at the total number of planes, tanks and men lost on german side vs that of all the allies.

Not only numbers, russians started to produce really good tanks. Yeah sure, panzers were good and all but had really big flaws, each time anything needed to be fixed it required really specific parts while the russian tanks were durable and good. Also the numbers help, of course.

Hitler should not have attacked Stalingrad in the first place. One of his main motives was that it contained the name ''Stalin'' in it.
If he had tried to take something with actual strategic purpose (eg. the oil fields in the Caucasus) and wouldn't focus on one specific, almost inutile town the war in the east could've ended differently. Despite fighting on two fronts, altough I must agree that was a big factor in the outcome aswell.

Also just because a beach was captured first, doesn't make a difference. The Americans showed much bravery such as at bastogne and carentan. My point is, the USSR gave very little regard to loss of human life as long as the battle was won. The US always looked to minimize casualties. Had the US done the same as the soviets their advance would've been much quicker.
