I'm Italian, and I'm sincerely grateful to all the brave allied soldiers who fought and died to help us getting rid of nazism and fascism. Oh, I was forgetting: beautiful video, thank you !
The song is a reminder of the things that can be accomplished if we work together, for one another. We must remember that lesson in these increasingly difficult and dangerous times.
Exactly! Had we all (Americans, Canadians, Europeans, Australians) worked together in Afghanistan, we would've won the Great War on Terror by now! But most of Europe backed out, and because of this we're all heading for a defeat in detail!
No it is not possible, unlike any other war that we have been involved this war has no real face that we can focus on. I mean WW2 had the country of Germany to focus on and the war on terror does not. The reason for this is because as soon as we kill off one terrorist group, another group will now surface. This war cannot be won because we are fighting against evil itself not the people.
My great grand dad served in Italy. He stepped on a land mine while leading his squad through a field, just one of the many Canadians to die in the war.
I'm from Romania, Latin language and we have alot of slavic words (about 30 % of our vocabulary). But yes, Polish is very hard :).Over all, i love the contry and it's history. Great nation.
gdzieś na YT znalazłem angielską wersję naszego hymnu miło się czytało komentarze moją uwagę przykuł szczególnie "Thanks Poland we won't forget Monte Cassino"
3 people disliked this video. In memory of the sacrifices of our soldiers who fought for freedom, including freedom of speech, I will not harshly judge them.
@AndreasHandig In the early morning of May 18 a reconnaissance group of Polish 12th Podolian Uhlans Regiment found the monastery abandoned and raised a Polish flag over its ruins
In case you weren't aware, the British 78th Infantry Division was also fighting on the mountain during the battle. The Poles were the ones who reached the top first, but the Brits were there as well.
If I remember correctly, I believe my father told me that his father was at Monte Cassino. Certainly, I know he was at Anzio and Rome and was with the 149th Field Artillery under Mark Clark's 5th Army.
@MrLoudguy2 they used snipers to hit from other hills while the allies were busy climbing monte cassino , lol the allies needed to retreat and bring their own snipers.
Interesting note. The battle of Monte Cassino is one of the few times that Nazi commanders not only showed incredible foresight, but also incredible humanity, in their attempts to remove and preserve both the relics and the people. Note, they did not send them to the Reich, they did not take them for themselves. They evacuated the monks and as much of their gear as they could and moved them somewhere out of the lines of battle. This was rather prescient, as the monastery was destroyed in a raid.
@Dominikize there wasnt an airlift though... look through every page of history about poland no where do you see allies droppin supplies from the air. that was the BERLIN AIRLIFT where the americans flew supplies to EASTERN GERMANY which isnt even close to warsaw
Monte Cassino the place where the Poles proved they were still a force to be reckoned with as they took Cassino. Though I have multiple national ancestors this one goes to my Polish Ancestors!
Since nobody else seems to be doing it I will. Honor also needs to be given to the men of the German 1. Fallschirmägerdivision, who held out for six days against incredible odds. Gott Mit Uns "No other troops in the world but German paratroops could have stood up to such an ordeal and then gone on fighting with such ferocity" - Field Marshal Alexander
It is very possible that none of the supplies landed in his sector of the city. Afterall, a heavy wind could blow supplies into enemy hands quite easily. But the fact remains that there were several attempts made, and in fact, of the planes lost several had polish air crews serving in the RAF, and they are listed as having been killed in the attempt. Also remember that perpsective of the event while it is occuring is rarely anything close to realistic. It's called the "Fog of War" for a reason.
@thelittlemind What are you talking about? Seriously? You're right our soldiers weren't in country they were across Europe, I never said they were. And yes, both the UK and USA did airlift supplies to the uprising in Warsaw, from Italy. They lost 33 aircraft in the attempt until Stalin finally gave them permission to use Russian airfields. What are you talking about?
@MrLoudguy2 you said to me "where they are being fired apon" and to a soldier that will mean the place he has been hit!! actually he wont even need to see where he has been fired at coz he can "FEEL".
I've heard that general Ander had to give an order which prohibited falling upon land mines. Some soldiers were knowingly walking on the mines to blow them up. Suicide to let other make progress. I don't know what to think about it. Extreme dedication for good purpose or madness?
Z tego co pamiętam, z powodu tego, co widać na końcu teledysku (biało - czerwona flaga) Monty wpadł w wielką wściekłość. Rozkazał usunąć i zawiesić flagę imperialną.
@thelittlemind Actually the U.S. never cared about any of it until after Dec. 7th 1941, which is why for us the war was so short comparatively speaking. As for France falling, that really wasn't that big of a deal to most Americans at the time. It was our bond forged by perhaps one of the greatest statesmen in the last two-hundred years, (Winston Churchill) with FDR that helped catapult us into the war. Also: No one in the U.S. cares about Russia really either. We play MMOs together now. :)
German and italian soldiers deserve more than a "recognizion" they endure a superior attack on a ruined position from every flank that were aviable and fight with honour...
Traktuj swoich żołnierzy jak własne dzieci, a pójdą za tobą w najgłębsze doliny. Patrz na nich jak na własnych ukochanych synów, a będą stać przy tobie choćby do śmierci. @hjorturerlend Allies attacked fortified mountain position, cannot use primary advantages over fallschimjager (tanks) - yes, fallschimjager fight with ferocity, but to be called toughest warriors of all time? Very doubtful, at least on same level was German Africa Corps, American 101st division or US Marine Corps... and many others
@MrLoudguy2 yea same here but remember one thing the war crimes of the allies equals that of the axis in ww2 , there was no good or bad in this war and we (people of germany) are not to be criticized for all the the war crimes that occured in ww2 and post ww2 times. And these things happened more than 60 years ago.
As an Italian i can tell you that that German and the Fasc where scum bags. We lost monte cassino but we regain our liberty and freedom. For every bomb drop for every fire shot we dreamed about a new land of peace and justice. Plus the atrocities against civilian and soldiers by the German and local blackshirt was tremendous: Sant'Anna di Stazzema Fosse ardeatine Marzabotto Risiere di San Saba The deportation of the Roman Ghetto Cefalonia Alto Reno ER And many more
@MrLoudguy2 hello the destruction of monte cassino didnt save any lives because the germans had left the place with all its stuff and even informed it it the allies , so why did the allies bombard the house of god ?
US never forgot poland, only the allies they made deals with at the first of the war. WHy is Poland first NATO eastern European country? We have many Polish Americans, and we have much history shared. You have had a harder time because of geographical location. :( But we are with you now, and no one will ever threaten Poland Sovereignty again.
Unfortunately, only the Poles had such determination. The motivation was Poland under German occupation. Germany after the Battle complained that the Poles at Monte Casino the most of their most killed (murdered). So we germany who admitted them, and won by. respect for your grandfather and his fellow-soldiers!
@Lerathe Also, remember our troopers weren't the ones that stopped a few hundred meters away and watched Poles dying. Western mentality would not have allowed that in 1944. We and the British were also the ones who dropped supplies and medicine on Warsaw during the uprising. So I think there's a little more than your proximity to Russia to consider.
I'm Italian, and I'm sincerely grateful to all the brave allied soldiers who fought and died to help us getting rid of nazism and fascism.
Oh, I was forgetting: beautiful video, thank you !
grazie grazie ci levano i fasci e ci lasciano la mafia non proprio grazie
Monte Cassino was a warcrime by your heroes.
The song is a reminder of the things that can be accomplished if we work together, for one another. We must remember that lesson in these increasingly difficult and dangerous times.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible to win the war on terror through force alone. Certainly not with a fullscale invasion.
No it is not possible, unlike any other war that we have been involved this war has no real face that we can focus on. I mean WW2 had the country of Germany to focus on and the war on terror does not. The reason for this is because as soon as we kill off one terrorist group, another group will now surface. alexander10000000 So kill the next terrorist group as soon as it appears!
Easier said then done.
My great grand dad served in Italy. He stepped on a land mine while leading his squad through a field, just one of the many Canadians to die in the war.
Polish soldiers hold the Monte Cassino hill !! PROUD TO BE POLISH !
brazilians took it and polish holded it, im proud of our countries
Most of the Allies participated in taking Monte Cassino even not fascist Italy participated.
Krzychu Kowalski thanks! i´ve changed names, sorry, those italians names always look like the same!

This kinda funny audio gives a feeling this was recorded in 1944. Good job!
Very well made video, thanks!
One of the fiercest battles on the Italian theatre of war.
Naprawdę świetnie zrobiony Film. Oglądam i aż mi się micha cieszy :) I ta Polska flaga :D
Of course. I did yesterday "Carolus Rex", you can watch it.

That quote...Sun Tzu right?
yes he was the author of the art of war
alex chop Indeed he was...
Yes, it is. Whole album is called "Art of War" after the famous book of Sun Tzu.
virtualvdx Of the same name, aye.
we will fight and die together that part is awsome!!!!
Thanks
@ludoalta It's why the battle is sometimes unofficially referred to as the "battle of many nations."
Sabaton: best history teachers ever!
In case you weren't aware, the British 78th Infantry Division was also fighting on the mountain during the battle. The Poles were the ones who reached the top first, but the Brits were there as well.

Battle of the Monte Cassino, 1944. Fought near monastery of Monte Cassino, founded by Saint Benedict. (Hence the Slopes of St. Benedict.)
