    I recommend always wash your hair after sweating, no matter when was the last wash. It's the same as skipping shower after sweating because the scalp is also skin like the other parts of our skin, and it can cause problems if you leave it dirty on purpose. What is important is to choose the right, mild products for frequent washes and aftercare.

    When I’m doing vigorous exercise often I first brush my hair through with a wooden bristle brush to help distribute the natural oils throughout, and rinse my hair with water without shampooing. That helps wash away some of the sweat and odor. If I have apple cider vinegar I’ll rinse my hair with that as well, usually I add some essential oils to the ACV rinse which also helps get rid of some odor. Super great if you don’t want to do a full wash but want to feel cleaner!

    The "feed back theory" is something that was debunked in the 80's and had no scientific foundations : the skin is made of many layers, the top part of the skin is itself made of many layers of dead cells whose principal fonction is to block anything from penetrating the skin. The skin is a lot like your hair, the top part is "dead". The sebaceous gland that produce sebum do so under many layers of skin. The glands do not have any system to communicate with the dead top layer. Sebaceous glands respond to internal factor like genes and hormones and produce permanently sebum weather the surface is already saturated or not.
    In conclusion, you should adapt your hygiene choices to the nature of your skin, but you won't change the nature of the skin by your hygiene choices for the most part. In particular, if you have sensitive oily skin that is prone to dandruff it is recommended to wash frequently, as sebum sitting on the skin is a major cause of inflammation because of the microorganisms proliferation that feeds from it.

    • @daphne-bai
      @daphne-bai Před 2 lety +3

      Agreed. I tried extending the time between washes because I’d heard the scalp would naturally balance its pH levels that way, but I could never make it past the third day without serious dandruff buildup and my scalp starting to itch from bacteria or yeast 😖 I didn’t use dry shampoo since that’s only a temporary fix that would cause more buildup from all the starch. Moral of the story: everybody’s bodies work differently and a healthy hair routine for one person doesn’t necessarily work for the next. Don’t punish yourself for the sake of the “perfect hair routine.”

    Something that helps me when I sweat but don’t want to wash my hair is just giving it a really good deep RINSE with just water in the shower. You can even do a herbal rinse if desired. It has really helped me.

    My hair is oily and fine (tangles easily, goes limp fast) and I live in the south. I get "second/third day hair" about 12-14 hours after I wash. I still skip shampooing on days I'm not doing anything, but if I want my hair to look nice, I have to wash.
    Anyone have any tips?

      My hair is not really fine, but I had the same problem as you, my hair would get soo greasy after only a few hours.
      What I did: I did the no poo challenge for two weeks. ( If you’re not familiar with it, it is just not washing your hair at all for a short period of time)
      After doing that, I could easily wash my hair every 2-3 days.
      I know that is not very impressive but for me it changed a lot.
      Now I always wash them twice a week

      Have you tried a scalp only wash? If you hair is really long you can braid it and hold the braid out of the way and then just shampoo your scalp and keep the ends dry. Washes the oil of your scalp and keeps your ends from being dry and overwashed.

    • @marialuginsland9863
      @marialuginsland9863 Před 5 lety +8

      If you deal with greasy hair for a little while your scalp starts to produce less oil, like the above comment suggests. I had the same issue, so I'd just put my hair In a bun or French braid a few days and use dry shampoo if I really needed. Now I can go SOooo much longer without washing. Brushing the hair upside down to distribute the oil from your scalp also helped and keep my hair from being dry while the roots were greasy (I used to have really dry hair from the midsection down, while the top would be greasy.)

    • @marialuginsland9863
      @marialuginsland9863 Před 5 lety +7

      French braids will also help give your hair volume too, it did for me, my hair is fine but curly/wavy. After washing and it mostly dries, (still a little tiny bit damp) if you put it in a loose French braid, it will have more volume on top when you decide to let it down.

    Mis tips
    .Lava el cabello dos o tres veces a la semana.
    .lava el cabello con agua tibia o fría nunca con agua muy caliente porque daña mucho el cabello (lo sé por esperiencia)
    .Aplica mascarillas naturales (al final del comentario dejo mi favorita).
    .no duermas con el cabello suelto, cuando te levantes estará muy enrredado
    . Peinarlo siempre, no dejes que se enrrede con nada.
    Mi mascarilla favorita: Aloe vera y aceite de coco. Saca la "baba" del aloe vera y mézclalo con el aceite de coco líquido, aplícalo de medios a puntas y déjalo el mayor tiempo que puedas. Espero que te sirva💖💖

      Yeah, I think that tip really just applies to straight hair. I have 2b waves and I still need to apply a leave-in and gel to look decent. For what it's worth, I've been using a homemade flaxseed gel and it doesn't build up on my hair like other products I've tried. I get a medium to light hold, depending on which leave-in I use under it. Sometimes I get a really good cast, sometimes not. I'd recommend it for wavies if you haven't tried it!

      @@brcsephina this is the video with the exact recipe I follow from Naptural85!
      czcams.com/video/os0gI1vx1tw/video.html
      I follow her instructions exactly and it really does come out with perfect consistency. 👌
      Also, as an additional tip, keep the gel in your preferred container in the fridge to keep fresh. It will last about 3 wks in the fridge. After that point you might start noticing a funky smell and it starts going bad. I just pull it out of the fridge and bring to the bathroom on wash day.
      Also, the recipe makes more gel than I can use within 3 wks because my hair isn't long yet. So I separate the finished recipe into 4 smaller plastic containers. I keep 1 in the fridge and 3 in the freezer and rotate as I go through it!
      I hope you get good results with it!! I've really been loving it! You can always experiment with the recipe to get thinner or thicker consistency, or add essential oils, or even agave syrup to the finished product (for apparently stronger hold and other benefits). I just haven't experimented with the recipe yet because I'm getting good results with it as is. 😊 Good luck!

Yes when I exercise it's kinda wet and gross lol but then after it I just let it air dry and when dried down it's not greasy whatsoever. I use a shampoo called Puracy. It's organic, cruelty free, and pretty inexpensive. I get it off of Amazon. I also trim my split ends once a month. It helps a lot and I really recommend doing it. It helps your hair to look fuller and be healthier.

    Do you know anything for thinning hair? I feel like mine could be stress and I want to maximize my potential for thick hair. Have you always had such thick hair?

      Try cowashing. I have extremely thin hair and cowash has helped me so much! I feel its thicker and shinier. Shampoo damages your hair
