Sin is something Jesus defeated and took away he also took the judgment of all sin for all people on himself. And he died to defeat death for us.

then your argument is with the Apostle John, not me.
In the new covenant (as per Ezek 36), God says:
Ezekiel 36:27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.
Jesus would say: John 14:15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments."
We don't keep God's commandments to earn His love, or acceptance, or heaven- its a gift!
We keep His commandments because of His love and acceptance of us, so that He gets honor and glory.
