I was a receptionist for the ad agency who handled the WLS Radio account and on occasion I would ride up in the elevator with him. He was a character and I listened to hi. In high school and college. Loved him to pieces on WLS!!!!

I loved Larry Lujack. I worked weekends and occasional fill in shifts on WRLL Real Oldies. One day I was filling in on mid days, and Tommy said "Scott Miller in for Scotty Brink at 10 this morning...and Larry piped in ....Who? Scott Who? Who is he?" I was listening to the break and laughed so hard I almost fell out of my chair.

I was looking to draw a microphone and fell into a rabbit hole about radio stations so of course WLS came to mind. I watched a video about WLS and Larry was the only name I remembered that I had to look up more about him.
I'm sorry to hear that cancer took him so young. Even all these years later, I still felt sad to read of his passing.

Growing up in downstate IL in the 60's mighty 890 was the channel to get at night loved Lujack and Dick Biondi. How about the beautiful Oswego Drag Raceway. Also Sunday nights was a snooze with science show from Argon Lab.

1984... a skit with Little Tommy... a farming family with a rugged old, no-nonsense dad, an overprotective mother, and 2 teenage boys who were, let's say... confused. Anyone remember? I laughed hysterically all the way to work. I need to find that track! 😂

Larry, my youthful family dynamic growing up was “challenging” to say the least.
I listened to you and Tommy in the mornings before attending school, both my only escape from my difficulties.
    Thank you for being you.

To look at him, and with his having grown up in Idaho, and majoring in Forestry, you’d think maybe “Lujack” is short for “Lumberjack.” Kinda disappointed it’s not.

i never knew he was lonely and had an alcohol problem. i remember working a summer internship with the city and being at the taste of chicago in 1986. i'm hanging out with my officemate and look over and what do you know, there's larry lujack 4 ft away. i waited until he was done eating (i have manners), mustered all my courage and home training and approached him for an autograph. he couldn't have been nicer to me, such a sweet guy. signed my notebook, told me to not be so formal and enjoy summer. i never forgot that.
