    Dude...I came to youtube to find out how to do this right the first time. This is basically just a video of exactly what I would've done.Thanks youtube

    It has been discovered that the shade actually works better when installed so it opens top to bottom. That's how I installed mine. That way you can still have privacy when it is partially open, and also be able to look out through the opening at the top. I did it on a factory installed window, so I don't think the frame has to be flipped around to do the shade this way. (The locking levers are spaced the same on the top and bottom of a shade prepped window frame.)

    Thanks so much for making this, and for your candor in making mistakes so that your viewers don’t do the same thing. Can’t wait to install mine next week.

    Hats off to you for including your screw-up ;) Very brave of you. This was helpful as I'm going to do the same on my cargo trailer conversion to camper.

      Thank you. Not my most pleasant moment but if someone learns from it....glad it helped you. Good luck with your project.

    I grimaced when I saw you go to cut more from that bottom right corner. The camera angle was showing all of us what you clearly couldn’t see from your vantage point. I’m glad you were able to caulk it. I appreciate you posting the video. I’m considering adding the same window to my door. If I do I’ll use your Amazon link.

      Lol yeah. The good thing about recording the process is that you get to see exactly where you made a stupid mistake. I think it is definitely worth it. Thanks for watching.

      @@firesideweekenders I just put mine in on Saturday. Turned out great. The one I bought (Lippert model) did not come with a template/usable photo on the box though. I had to keep enlarging my cut out. Talk about feeling nervous every time that hole got bigger😰.
      It ultimately turned out great though.

      Oh that’s awesome. I would have been nervous, specially after watching this video and having to keep cutting. Enjoy the new window.

    Yes, Finally found a video on this subject. My RV door doesn't have a window & was wondering how difficult it would be. Thanks

    This is a great tutorial. We just purchased the sister trailer to yours. It's the Wildwood. So, I'll be tracking your progress :). Great job on the window and know all about cutting larger than needed. Just out of curiosity, it would seem to have been easier to remove the door first. I believe it's a handful of screws. Only because your on a tipsy ladder and all. Again, great job and it looks awesome.

      @firesideweekenders  Před 2 lety

      Thank you. Yes you can definitely remove the door. Some people do. I didn’t feel like having potential alignment issues later one so I left mine on. It wasn’t difficult doing it this way. The biggest pain was the recutting.

    I have a few questions at the beginning of your video the small sliding window do u know how to remove the glass?
    Also have you found a decent shade for the bunk areas

    • @firesideweekenders
      @firesideweekenders  Před 6 měsíci

      I have not tried to remove that glass. I’m assuming you may need to lift up and pull on one end or maybe remove a trim piece first. For the bunks we just purchased the same style blinds that the other windows have from Amazon:amzn.to/47HAlSN

    Can you do a up grade on the power plug so you dont have to keep pulling the cord to hook up to camp hook up ???

      @firesideweekenders  Před 3 lety

      Ill have been barred from spending any more money on the camper until we go on a few trip lol.

    would be nice if they gave us a template..... im going to use the smaller outside frame outline it on the door. then use a thin 1/4" or so painters tape and go on the inside of the outline I created on the door and cut on the inside of the tape outline. the AP thin shade comes with a template and screws. Lipperts snap together and no template.

    • @firesideweekenders
      @firesideweekenders  Před 3 lety

      Yeah a template would have been great. It’s nice that you can use the box but not a true template.

  • @JosephWolf
    @JosephWolf Před rokem

    So, is the image on the box not a good template?

    • @firesideweekenders
      @firesideweekenders  Před rokem +3

      The image on the box is a good template, if you cut it in the right spot. I should have stopped and really looked at it to make sure. I just needed to cut the template a little more all the way around and the. Test fit it on the window itself. I did not measure twice :(.

  • @darindorey119
    @darindorey119 Před 2 lety

    I don't understand how you were able to use the picture on the box as a template? If I did that with the one I bought, Lippert Thin Shade, it would make the hole in the door too big. The hole needs to be smaller than the picture on the box.

    • @firesideweekenders
      @firesideweekenders  Před 2 lety

      Maybe they changed the box. Mine would have worked out perfect if I didn’t mess it up lol
