- www.bethematch.com - Rhonda Christenson was diagnosed with leukemia in 2007. Three months into her treatment, she was told that she needed a bone marrow transplant to survive. Chances of a perfect match were 1 in 20,000.
But thanks to a complete stranger, Rhonda got the blood stem cell donation that saved her life in June of 2008, and in October of 2009, they finally got the chance to meet each other.
You too can be a part of the cure. Join the national bone marrow and blood registry. It's as simple as a cheek swab.

In just a few days I make my donation to a complete stranger. I can't tell you how touching it was to see this video and how much I am looking forward to hopefully meeting my patient when the time comes.
How did it go??
Just registered today. While I hope that no one has to be a position where they need this kind of help, I'm here for anyone who does!
i registered almost 3 years ago! they just emailed me that i could be a match for someone! the feeling is amazing, and i truly hope that i am to help someone! now on to the next step and hope they tell me i can help!
Did you end up donating?
As a registered nurse in an emergency department. I just registered today after being moved by a patient! I had a near death experience due to blood loss unrelated to this and I realize how I felt without so much blood. I would love to give someone life! ❤ despite if it makes me feel like poop!
i had a trans plant in 2009. for non hopskin lymphoma. doing well. have good days and bad. i often think of my donor. wish i could put a face to the name of the person that saved my life. you are truely blessed to meet your donor. hope all is well and stay strong.
I just found out three days ago iam a match for someone that needs a bone marrow transplant doing blood work let's get this process going and save a life!!!!!
Start injections for a pbsc donation on the 28th donation is the 2nd lots of prayers being sent to the family im donating to!
Another update, day 4 of filgrastim shots not feeling all that well but its totally worth it to help someone I dont even know
I just got the same call 3 days ago, curious as to how the pbsc process affects the donors body, any symptoms or difficulties that you had during the injection/withdrawl process?
Wow so it took three months to get to the actual donation point from the day you were notified you were a match?
Yea about that time frame but well worth it
I registered 7 years ago. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to donate. ❤❤❤
it's beautiful if you had the chance to save someone's life.
I signed up a few years ago and I am still awaiting to be a match. I hope that I can help someone if needed

+David Ross Thank you for your kind words, David! Indeed, donation has been highlight of my life and it's shaped my future.
I registered in 1996 and recenlty got a call that I am a possible match.
safiedler how did it go. Yes, I know it’s 5 years later. I’m interested.
Praise God how cool is that. I'm so excited I just registered today. God is good.
I go tomorrow to meet with my doctor about a BMT for the first time. I'm so scared.
Wonderful! I'm speechless they are both so beautiful,
I'm too old to get on the registry (63), but I never knew about this registry until a few years ago....I wish I could have donated, and I hope that others don't wait to do this....so simple...
I just got a call today after 24 years on the list & I pray to God that I am able to help the young girl in need. A kit will be Fedex to me for the saliva test and I hope I hear back that I can proceed to donate. No greater gift than the gift of life!
This story is so touching! I am thankful for modern medicine and people like Elizabeth!
Wow so amazing stories to see and listen to i didnt have a dry eye. Its so amazing how total stranger come together and one saves your life. I pray that every sick person gets their perfect match!!

Very touching
If you are 18-40, please seriously consider joining the registry.
It's crazy in how all of these videos the donor and recipients all look similar. I just got a call I'm a possible match and moving forward to see if everything goes well and I'm able to help someone.
amazing!!!
I cant wait to be the match someone else needs. God gave his blood his life for me. This is the least I could do and I'm really excited and scared a little at the same time. Such q beautiful things here. Imagine your gold they've done all they can do and you need a one on a million match to save your life. I've not ever done anything I'm proud of this is something I'm very proud of. I cant wait to help someone else and their family. May God give them all matches.
Both women are stunning
I would love to donate part of me to save a precious life an act of love and kindness women and children first.
Been registered for a few years. Re-upped not long ago. Just waiting to help.
LOVE IS SO AWESOME!!!! WHAT AN AMAZING GIFT~ L I F E !!
I got a text about being one in a preliminary search. I’m anxious to see if I’m a best match!
I’m on three registries
To the potential donors who may hesitate : when you grow old and reflect back on your life, this will be one of the greatest achievements in your life; like:
I studies at this college/university
I raised a beautiful family
I worked for 30 something years
AND I SAVED A HUMAN'S LIFE, I am ready to go now.
I registered last month , and waiting for a call.
No thanks. Will not ever be a donor.
So true. Did you ever get a call?
donor is very pretty
Let me guess, indoctrinate her, force her to become a muslim, marry her?
yeeeesss by the grace of god-the lord jesus christ
Можно сойти с ума.
you should pray for me, brother. not have anger
I was a MUD but I aged out.
I have been on the donor list for 10 months. I keep hoping that I will get the call to donate. One day I will be the lucky person that will help save a life. I hope.
You can also donate blood too, if you're not doing so already.
I actually know a lot of humble atheists who mind their own business (just like i know religious people who keep it out of other people's faces). More often it is the religious people in my face though. I have never seen atheists protesting, handing out flyers, annoying everyone who walks by at my college before but holy shit are there religious people doing so. Saying what I believe, whether you like it or not, is my right and if your faith is strong enough, then it shouldnt bother you.
Just once I wish I could hear someone thank science instead of god for their cure.
Come on kids, this is a happy story about the gift of life. Don't disrespect about arguing religion.
i would like to but theres no donor drive within 200 miles of my zip code which is in Phoenix...
If you're really interested in becoming a donor, check out the Be The Match website. If you meet certain conditions, they'll send out the swab-kit in the mail and put your in their registry for free.
You don't have to go to a drive! Be the match will send you a kit and you just mail it back. It's just a couple of cheek swabs. I did it a few years ago. There's no criteria to meet to get a kit-just request one!
If you're a match, the donor or donor company will often fly or drive you to the nearest donation facility. The swab kit also comes to your address in the mail.
No thanks.
Why would anyone not get tested? Only five days of being uncomfortable can save a life, keep a child from losing their parent, or a parent from losing their child. Really, a no brainer.
Stacy Steele it’s not even five uncomfortable days, it’s five little injections followed by a day in bed. I cannot understand why every eligible person doesn’t join up.
@@codename495 hi
🥴🙄 not happening.
god sent her! you should thank the medical staff not something that does not exist
Really just wait till you get in trouble and see who you call on
I'm confused...what doesn't exist? God exists...doctors exist...you must have just missed putting in a couple words or a sentence or something.
"By the grace of God" oh please did the grace of God give you cancer as well? I hate how she thanks god for providing her donor instead of focussing on the donor's selflessness - like seriously is the donor even religious?
I think you need an eye donor. Didn't you just saw the video? She did thank her & obviously she was very grateful for her generosity... anyway, aside from a new set of eyes, I hope you can find a brain & heart donor as well because obviously you don't have both. I don't know how a brainless troll & heartless ungrateful unbeliever like you lives. Nobody convinces you to believe in God in the first place so have some respect to those who believe in God's truth.
Of course he didn’t give her cancer or allow her to have it. However, it does get on my nerves when people destroy their own bodies with the chemo crap and then want someone else to save their life.
