- Can you imagine how it feels to meet the person that saved your life?
Marcelo Camponogara survived leukemia thanks to the generosity of a complete stranger. William Eigel joined the Be The Match Registry by chance and four years after ticking a box that said "yes, I want to be a bone marrow donor", he gave Marcelo a second chance in life.
Marcelo and William met for the first time in an overwhelming event organized by The Icla da Silva Foundation.
“We all need help from a stranger sometimes.” What a beautiful statement and what a wonderful man.
Thank you for watching and commenting. Patients fighting for a 2nd chance sometimes need a little help.
I cried through this whole video. I have a blood cancer called MDS- Myelodysplastic Syndromes, & at some point I'll need a transplant. I hope & pray I'll find a donor & be as blessed as Marcelo has been. I pray he is in good health, & that he is enjoying life with his lovely family. And I wish the best to the fellow that was his donor. Thank you sir, for your selfless act!
Thank you Darlene! We hope that you find your matching donor when the time comes...
I got picked as a match about a month ago, my donation is all set for next month :D Can't wait!
Bless you
You are a great person!
For me it's incomprehensible why people would be hesitant to at least register to become a donor. When I became of age, I thought it would be something worth signing up for. 3 years later now, I still imagine being called upon to donate because it's something I'd never question doing.
Best donor video ever. What a beautiful family, or rather, two beautiful families. Thanks for sharing this story with us.
What a great guy
I am so happy for both those men and their families. Character rising to the level of nobility in both families.
BRAVO
OMG! I worked with Marcelo at Loreal! He was such a great guy I wanted to say Thank you ! am Glad your doing better!!!
This is extra cute.
I loved the little speech he gave.
Stay safe!!!
Doctors worldwide should be asking each patient (when they come for a physical exam or something) that enters their office if they want to be swabbed, I am sure many many people would simply say yes and get registered more efficiently and possibly save more lives. Forget about waiting for people to come out on their own time.
Very moving.
i TOTALLY AGREE!!! WE don't know how much we can do to change and ultimately save a LIFE!!!
This is great Marcelo. It will be highly emotional to face such a situation. However, in my opinion, you were able to control your emotions. It is good that you posted this video so that others can watcht.
Regards.

I feel so touch with your video, my brother also needs a bone marrow transplant but we don't have the money for it and time is going by and I see him just going away slowly.
Oh no...I wish for his recovery..🌷

I didn't know what Leukemia was until I was diagnosed with it 14 years ago. I wish I still didn't know.😁✌
You had to play that song... I fucking teared up
I got my call today after 6 months. I am doing it.
Greatness 💟

Where are the million likes? ❤️
@daniepaula1977 omg! congratulations!!! XD
I suppose there are those people who do that and that is very horrible. I wonder if the people who back out would change their minds if they were offered a cash sum to go through with it by the family? Sadly, money talks for others while others go with their heart.
