I love to coupon, but I think the past few months...I have let that rule the buying. I wasn't putting the groceries away and so I wasn't seeing what I had. Filming this was an eye-opener and I will not forget the permission slip to "STOP!" It's going to feel great to enjoy Autumn and heal and read cookbooks! You are very kind...I appreciate that! Doesn't make sense to pay full price! :)

Do not put you can food away, or boxes foods away onto your shelves until the written expiration date is written onto the product with a black marker. That way you know what to use first.

Great video. Something to consider: your guest's voice comes across much quieter so I up the volume slide bar to be able to hear what is being said, but then when you begin talking the volume is then waaay too loud so I have to slide it down. That continues all through the video. Is there a way when producing your video to set the voice levels to be consistent?

Funny but I HATE my upright freezer. I'll take a chest freezer any day. The secret to a chest freezer is to use milk creates to put your food in. Way easier to get things you need ❤. I don't think the upright one's hold as much food as a chest one does 🤷‍♂️.

1:26:31 When I went to Graduate School the meal cards were horribly expensive then. I went to the grocery store and made food in my dorm room. I only stayed in the dorm for 1 semester. I moved into an apartment as it was much safer than the dorm where people would light pizza boxes and send them down the garbage chute.

1 & 2. Lol 😂 we rarely have soda in the house. We do actually have a 2-liter of root beer in the house but only because we will be having ice cream floats this week. But usually, unless it’s for a planned event like a party, we don’t just bring soda in. Because we will eat our weight in soda & nobody needs it 😂 otherwise, it’s water, tea (we make it), coffee (we grind the beans ourselves), and once a day chocolate milk for my guys.

The main one in the kitchen might be a lost cause becaus I’m not the only one getting into them. Basically… top shelf is frozen (duh lol) fruits & veg, 2nd shelf is a mixture of overflow veg & convenience items, 3rd shelf is bread & cooked meat, 4th shelf is MEAT & the 5th shelf is leftovers of dinner that needs to be eaten up. The door is flours, juice concentrate, taffy, popsicles, & broth/stock.

We did our cut-back on soda by mid '2022; and before then it was purchased on sale. We still stock some tonic (quinine), ginger ale, and a lemon-lime for when/ if we get ill. We have 2 containers of pedlyte and about 6 to 8 of an electrolyte splrts drink. These we purchase sugar free which can be hard to find when you need it and on sale. We often hold them through thier best use by date and drink them in the summer rather than waste them. We are aways from a store and a good 10 miles from one open 24 hours; plus it has only returned to 24 hours sometime in early '23. I think weve purchased two, 2 liter sodas from the grocery store for purposeful root beer floats in '23. Other than that weve periodically purchased fountain sodas.

I absolutely LOVED this episode & had lots of giggles!! Loved the recipes you cooked & tips & tricks along the way, Tawra! Annie, your pantry is amaaazing!! You definitely have more than enough food to use up without any shopping for ages! I'm sure your family will have a lot of fun finding recipes in Tawra's books to cook up with the food you have stocked up! I hope & pray you heal well & can enjoy more rest to recover. TAWRA, MIKE & JILL.... 1 thing I'm noticing that's a distinct difference between Aussie kitchens & American kitchens is that we don't have as many fridges & freezers & not as big either. We also don't tend to have the huge pantries that you have! I have a small bar freezer & bar fridge & then our kitchen fridge/freezer that is just 1 door at the top for the fridge & 1 door at the bottom for the freezer. I keep it organized so I know what's there & probably have enough food for many weeks (if I include our pantry food) for our family of 4 adults for 5 nights a week & 5 adults for 2-3 nights a week. Tawra, your garden is amaaaaazing! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

That's so hard to face! I hope you can re-build your stockpile, but like Tawra said, "Your emergency is here!" I hope your daughter will be OK. It's really tough when these GI things happen! You make a really good point...we store not just for us, but for others. My in-laws (in their 80s) live less than a mile away and we think if there were a major emergency...they would be best to be with us. We plan meals for that size...hence the leftovers. I make meals for 8 and then we have leftovers. I hope you have case-lot in your area. There are some good deals right now. Otherwise...I started with just buying an extra of a couple of things a week. When my husband would get a bonus...we would take 1/3rd and put it to our food storage. Prayers for you and your daughter! :)

You can actually freeze the paste in an ice tray. Once frozen you can put them in a freezer bag to take out as needed. I believe a standard ice cube tray holds about 2 tbsp. I love throwing a little bit of tomato paste in my beef soups and stews.

I am putting myself to shame! I need to slow up on the supplies! I think I just got on auto-pilot because I wasn't getting into the freezers and putting food away (back surgery issues), so I wasn't seeing my abundance! Now...I sit back...and shelf shop until my 6 month recovery is over! There was a time that that pantry was empty and I felt shame over that, so a good balance is always in order! :)
