My oldest son found his daddy’s Stanley thermos in his shop a few days ago. His dad passed November 2nd 2023. His cup was probably purchased in the early 1970’s. On fb, he told the story of his dad being a hard worker and all the jobs that old Stanley Cup had been on. It touched my heart and many others.
I bought a stainless steel cup I love for 98 cents off Amazon straw and all and keeps things hot and cold for hours! Good enough for me and it’s a pretty teal color. 😂
Hilarious! My husband was watching with me and he said, “See!!!!” “I’m not the only one who saves and uses my convenience store cup!” Lol! It’s true!
I bought a mybevi cup from Walmart for $10 and it keeps my coffee hot all day. And I’ve had it for years! These people acting crazy over a Stanley cup are insane!
And don’t even get me started about those dang $100 yeti cups parents are buying their kids to take to school!
It’s ridiculous
I don't like the taste of metal. If they made it ceramic lined, and about 20 to 22 ounces I might want one. I don't worry about keeping water ice cold, because I like my water room temperature. I would never drink that much coffee in a day, so I don't need it to keep it hot. I just need a normal size cup with a handle, that doesn't spill, and that fits in my cup holder. Plastic is fine with me, because....again...I don't like the taste of metal. BTW....I love QT coffee. My son always buys their bags of coffee for me to drink at home. I usually only drink one cup first thing in the morning. The rest of the day it's water. At night I calm down with a hot cup of decaf tea.
Stainless doesn't have a taste.
@@sstephens2175 myybevi cup has no taste… and it’s the only cup of coffee I have all day. To each their own I supposed.
Thank God I'm old! I hadn't even been aware that there was a craze over the Stanley cup. I remember Stanley cups from when I was a kid. They were carried by blue collar workers, along with those big metal lunch boxes. I can't imagine what those construction workers would think of this. It's just like the old Carhart brand. It was once a good, sturdy product made for working people at a reasonable price...then the hipsters got hold of it and it became trendy. When I saw this insanity yesterday on the news I laughed and thought I'd love to hear what Tawra thinks of this!
Oh me too!!. I was like "What Stanley Cup Craze?!" Stanley is a good product for sure. I still have and use my Stanley THERMOS when on a 10 hour plus car trip or camping. It's like 30 years old. My every day hot/cold travel mug (mostly for hot) is from Menards. It works great AND it fits in the car holder. My hot tea stays HOT for hours. I did not pay $50.00 for it (not even close). GET IT TOGETHER PEOPLE!
Yes I was clueless also and this is so funny . People are insane. Still using my Stanley thermos I bought at garage sale.
Hard to understand why anyone would spend that kind of money on a cup!
I jumped on the yeti band wagon and it was stolen in one week. Never again. I agree with you Twara. If you absolutely have to have a insulated cup, thrift store is your best bet for a fraction of the price. Or just use what you have.
I got my Yeti for free from my boyfriend's work. My old Stanley was about 10 dollars.
I wonder how long it will be before the fad passes and Stanley cups show up on thrift store shelves.
I wish CZcams had a laugh button for the skit 😄
On the serious side, people are gonna wake up and say. "What the heck did I do🤦♀️ How long do you think it will take before they end up in garage sales.
Exactly!! They will pop up in garage sales for 50 cents in the fall.😅
Crazy! I got an Ozark Trail cup at Walmart for $12 on clearance. They are just as good.
They really are!! Got mine at a thrift store for 2.00 and it is great!
You are correct!! We did the same thing.
Yes. They are great. Worth the money.
As a kindergarten teacher I relied on my Yetii cup to keep my homemade coffee hot all day. I never knew when I would get a chance to drink it. My Tervis tumblers keep my drinks cold and dont sweat so papers never got wet. Some things are for practical reasons not just status. I never considered myself fancy. Just frugal.
it's another marketing ploy that the sheeple have fallen for again. Remember, Beanie babies, Pet Rocks, Cabbage Patch kids? Same thing.
We got a few beanie babys. Some from my mother when she passed and some of my boyfriend's son when he passed. I knew someone that had tubs full thinking big money on eBay.😂
Yep, and it'll fizzle out where nobody else cares in just a few weeks. These crazes are crazy and ridiculously expensive.
I like Mike's acting 😂
I can't believe people can be led so easily to part with their cash for trash. Lining pockets that are already bulging for what...a cup!
Most people are still stuck in Jr High "follow the crowd" mode. Easily led. Sad, but true.
@@penelopeprimrose90You are so 100% spot on! Even in the workplace their attitudes are still stuck.
@@penelopeprimrose90 You are so right. Some people never grow up. They want what everyone else has even if it ultimately puts them out on the street.
I bought 4 Stanley cup (dupes) at the end of summer for $4.97 each from Temu. They came with the straw. I got them for my family members, the kids, for Christmas. I didn’t know what a Stanley cup was and yes I spent $1.98 extra for the bottom rubber piece. I had no idea that my $5 cups were going to be the hit at Christmas. This whole thing is crazy.
We’ll see those same tumblers at GreedWill soon.
Yep
Expensive there. May as well get a new one off brand. I have too many cups though. Gifts I regift also. Wonder how far some went.😆
I may have to upgrade to a QT cup. I'm just using a regular Taco Bell cup.
😂😂😂
I've reused a Slurpee cup. Can't resist when going for a walk on a hot summers day in the woods if I see a 7 11 on the way. A little treat isn't going to kill me. Probably 4 times that for Starbucks. I don't drink coffee thankfully. It's here for my boyfriend. Darn there goes some counter space 😂.
😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
I totally save taco bell cups, too! I get the medium drinks, and the cups are great to use for bathroom cups. I've also poured in things I didn't want to put in the drain, put the lid on, and placed on the trash. Also for a "vase" for herbs and green onions. I can just recycle it when done.
I think part of the deal is there are some limited edition colors that people think they have to have and those are the ones that cost extra and there are only a limited amount of them. So resellers are snatching them up and reselling them for crazy amounts of money. Of course people think they have to have them. It is ridiculous!
The acting in this video is superb! 😂
Our girls gifted their dad a couple of off brand thermo's that he uses frequently when he is working out in the heat gardening. Best gift ever as he uses them so often.
We have Thermos brand travel mugs. They are all over 30 years old, fit in our cup holders, and keep liquid hot and cold. We have 2 Thermos brand thermos. One is 35 years old, and the other was my Grandpas. He bought it while he was working in the factory at John Deere before I was born. I am 56 years old and the Thermos is still working wonderful. I do not NEED a Stanley, nor would I want to buy one.
I have like 5 Yeti cups that my husband got for free at various conferences that he had to attend. I typically use them for coffee because it keeps my coffee warm after my brain changes channels and I forget about it. I can't imagine buying a $50 cup.
Mine was free from a company too.
Same here. My husband has attended dozens of conferences throughout the years and we have three right now that I rotate daily!
But I have no Quick Trip place here to get that beautiful cup Mike! 😂
I laughed so hard. 😆 This Stanley cup thing is a prime example of herd mentality. Mooooo! 🐮I'll just stick with my Bubba mug I got at Walmart for five bucks on clearance. Holds about a quart, insulated, keeps things cold, has a handle, clear so you can see how much is left. Woo-hoo!
Love my Bubba mug. I left it at my brother's house a year ago, and now he has claimed it. Gotta get another. 😊
This is AWESOME! and YES! the word STUPID needs to be brought back and used more often..
Mike coming in with his qt cup was priceless
I'm watching this, and I am dying laughing. I have a Styrofoam QT cup that I have had since Thanksgiving that I saved and am using for Ice Tea and Ice water!
Haha
My husband does the same thing! He’s the only person who works out at the gym with Styrofoam Chic-fil-A cups😂 I love him thigh bc he works hard for our family!✝️💕
That was the funniest and best video you guys have put out!! Like really!! What is up with this outrageous craze of this Stanley cup??? It's a fad that will die just like Yeti did. And thanks for showing those video clips of The Stanley CEO. Very eye opening.
I have 2 Stanley's, both pink and hard to find, BUT my friend bought them for me for my birthday. I saw the one I have on Poshmark for $315! My husband told me to sell mine, but no, I don't sell my pink things!
I bought each member of my family a similar 40oz cup on Temu last summer for $5 each. The ice stays frozen in a hot car when I'm running errands. With six months of summer and up 115° that's a worthwhile investment. Plus, it encourages us to grab water at home before leaving the house, which saves money, rather buying something on the go.
I will say, I wouldn't even consider spending $79 for an insulted cup, or even $20.
Still have my old Stanley thermos from my medic days maybe it's worth a fortune now that it's vintage..lol
I'll bet it wasn't made in Ch na.
We got free thermos from work. The top doubles as a cup. I make hot cocoa in it to go sledding. It keeps the cocoa hot for several hours. You can pour some out into the cup and add marshmallows. To me it is far superior to any other drink container and it was free because it contains a supplier's logo.
I keep milk in my costco ThermoFlask cup and tea in my generic SS cup and they are still cold when I wake up. I have had stomach surgery and wake up during the night for drinks. They stay cold for 12 hours plus.
Before Christmas I was watching the Little house on the Prairie where Laura got a cup and a piece of candy for Christmas. This is ridiculous!!
AND...a whole penny! She and Mary each got a penny (in the book, at least, I don't know about the show). And they were beside themselves with happiness at what they got! The times... they've really changed, haven't they?
Mike, you’re hilarious 😂. You should be an actor lol.
It’s a status thing for the youngsters. Thank god my kids are grown and they can buy their own. I’m a cheapskate, wouldn’t pay ten cents for one.
The sad thing is is that these are adults also that are acting stupid. Most of these adults are the ones getting into fights over these cups. Some people never grow up.
I still drink from an.89 cup I bought in 1989 because we had to have a double-walled cup in nursing school so our drinks wouldn't get the desks wet at school. I do have a Yeti I bought that someone donated to a thrift shop still in the box after Christmas I paid .25 for.
I hadn't even realised this was a thing. I save my plastic drink cups and reuse them till they can't be used. They're great for taking along ice water to trips to the doctor, running errands, etc. And they've helped save money by not having to buy a drink at the drive through!
I got a pair of big 32oz insulated ThermoFlask tumblers from Costco, with a lid and 2 straws each (skinny one and thin one - lol). They keep ice from melting in the cup all night, they fit in the car cup holder...they work great. No handle, but that handle gets in the way a lot, so that's okay.
And yes, I fill up my tumbler with an electrolyte drink before I go to bed. I was having awful hot flashes, and being able to get a cold drink, or pulling out an ice cube to suck on, without having to get out of bed and go into the kitchen, helped me get back to sleep in comfort.
I got this cup because it holds 32oz, and I can take it around the house during the day, and easily take it right out to the car when I leave. Why do I need to drag it around the house with me? Because I will get into the flow doing something and will not stop to go in the kitchen to stay properly hydrated.
My God, I can't believe the ridiculous hype over a cup. Just get what works for you. Of course, I still don't even understand the hype over iPhones. That's just as ridiculous to me. 🤷♀️
i have my grandpa's old stanley thermos that he used back in the 50s and 60s. i still use it. i have several Yeti cups in various sizes that i love and use all the time. but i don't get the craziness of the stanley cup. i have several yeti's in various shades of pink.
Common sense is not so common.
Imagine what the world would be like if we all lived within our Means.
Some people have the means, the common sense, not so much!
I have one Tervis, it was a gift, one Ozark, it was a gift, and three Ozark coffee sized cups, all were gifts. I prefer the stainless interior of each over plastic lined, especially for hot beverages. Hot stays hot for 6 hours and cold stays cold outside in blazing Florida sun for hours. The only thing I can guess is the story of the woman where her car burned and the stanley cup on the inside still had ice. I am not brand loyal to anything and I would never pay that for a cup. It is sad that people so young are being shamed for nit having one.
Kids can be so cruel.
@@penelopeprimrose90 I have my original not just beans Cookbook on my shelf autograph, of course, LOL. My children are twenty seven and twenty three and we have managed to easily live With one income.. People just need to decide what they want more of.. I certainly could have purchased Silly things like this all along my route. But I certainly wouldn't be where I am today if I did.
@@karleefuchs6670 I agree. We've lived on one income for over 20 years. While we could have afforded to spend more, we always prioritized saving. Little expenses definitely add up.
Love the new hair do & Mike is a good actor 😂
I’ve got a couple metal cups (no handy handles) because I love always having ice cold water at all times (even to take sips in the middle of the night) BUT I found them at the goodwill bins for a couple bucks
My grandson bought me a 40oz for Christmas! I can promise you, he did not fight anyone to buy it! 😂😂😂
I like my Yeti just as well. I can’t believe people would fight over this! I will carry Hot soup in mine when I go out to shop. No stopping at fast food place. Cute video. They will end up in the same bin as all those Beanie Babies.
Saying all that, I love Stanley products. Just hype.
My husband bought an Ozark stainless steel cup years ago for 8 bucks-keeps water cold for 2 days! I used my old Stanley thermos to make coffee to take to work for years, worked great. Sounds like their quality has declined. I'm so glad I like room temperature fluids.
Recycled glass jar or juice jar is better than both in terms of toxicity and cost.
I started carrying a water bottle or travel coffee mug to break my habit of stopping to pick up coffee or pop when I was out. I dont think its necessarily a bad thing to keep something to drink handy, but I just use cheap or free travel cups. No need for a $50 cup. My dad worked in construction on high rise buildings and he had a Stanley thermos that lasted him for years. He worked 12+ hours a day in extreme temperature. Thats about the only situation that might warrant investing in a really nice insulated bottle, but other than that situation, its a waste of money. This is a phase that wont last. I dont blame Stanley either. Its your fault if you're stupid enough to spend money you don't have on something you dont need.
It’s just a marketing gimmick…I never understood this craze
Lol, this video was great! Mike, you're hysterical 😅😅😅😅
I was wondering what the craze was about this cup! Thanks for explaining and showing what this product is about.. BTW your hair style is beautiful Tawra!
Great points! I heard people talking about the Stanley cup and all I knew about Stanley cup was regarding hockey...lol. What a ploy this is! Thanks for making me laugh...you two are a great team!
If you really want a cup that looks like a Stanley and does everything a Stanley does, Walmart sells one.. and it’s not $50 😅
My husband was in the military and they taught them to drink room temperature water. Drinking really cold water after heavy exertion could make them sick.
I got a Stanley a year ago and all the little girls at my kids sports events were giving me jealous looks and i even got the occasional "I like your cup." Made me feel like the cool mom 😂 I find it practical, I like the metal vs plastic and it helps me drink more water. But I do not get the craziness with new colors but, whatever.
My boys would have cried if they had a cup for xmas but not because they were happy.
I bought a knock-off stainless mug that fits in all of my vehicle cup holders at the farm store for about $10. My sister-in-law noticed it and commented about me having a Stanley cup. I had no idea what she was talking about as I'm not a very trendy person. My cup does a great job keeping hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold for hours. My late husband's Stanley thermos from 40 years ago is in the pantry cabinet and is used when needed.
I paid 3.99 for Thermoflask 32 oz bottle at the thrift store. I like flip up straw and it doesn't make a big mess in the passenger seat if it falls over. I've had it 4 + years. I carry it almost everywhere and save $$$ by not buying drinks outside home.
Thanks for the video about this crazy fad. I am confused why people are going nuts over this type of mug. I was gifted a stanley mug dupe and I am really happy with it. Would never spend so much money on a mug/cup.
Stay warm.
I just have to laugh! I have 2 QTrip cups of each of the 3 sizes. They are very well made and the lids are as well. I just keep rewashing them.
I'd bet any amount of money on the fact that if you asked 90% of the people who "need" to have this cup they wouldn't even be able to tell you why it's so important to them. This is insanity.
Being of the world.
Mine is a Walmart thermal 64oz Zulu water bottle. Never heard of Zulu before buying it. It's a half gallon, and with 6 kids, it holds enough water to get us through a trip to the park or out running errands.
I’ve never ever actually bought a travel cup of any type lol. I have some free ones that were giveaways and that’s it. Does anyone remember when people didn’t carry around cups or bottles? What is this obsession with porting around beverages?
Yes we keep wondering the same thing....It's amazing how people survived for 6000 years by just drinking when they are thirsty instead of carrying water all over the place.
We were traumatized by the "1, 2, 3" at the water fountain in school. 😉 I spent 13+ years being thirsty all day. No more! When I leave the house, I bring my $2 water bottle. No reason to wait hours to get home for a drink or spend money on a drink from a store/restaurant.
I do have dry mouth now and sip all day as I got older. In the old days they did carry water in bags made of skins. Then flasks.
I have sjogrens, I need something to sip at all times. I'm always so thirsty and always so dry. It's not fun.
bought the walmart brand, insulated cup for Hot coffee on a trip, it kept it warmer longer. about 4 hours. that i liked.
I work at Lowes (in Texas)---and we have several areas of the store where Stanley Cups are on display, for sale. Nobody is lining up for them---in fact, sales of them are barely moving. They just sit there day after day. In fact I had a lady come in yesterday asking for Yeti cups. We no longer sell those--Stanley has replaced them in the store. So....I am seeing no Stanley craze here---was very surprised to hear that a craze for them is even going on?
How many of these trends have we seen? Yeti, Camel Back, HydroFlask, etc... they all do the same thing. Some people just have to get the newest name in (fill in the blank) even if they have something identical to it already.
This is the same thing with the Starbucks cups that people collect too what is wrong with the people today
I’ve had a Stanley thermos for about 10 years. It was $20 at Wal Mart. Maybe I could resell it…. 😊
Tawra, Love your big kitchen window with your pretty plants in the sun.
Interesting, I have the yeti ones and use the water bottle every day. My coffee one is more the shape of a take away one. No handle and smaller. I do start with a coffee from home then get it refilled out and about. They go camping with me, out in the boat with the kids and are an everyday item for me. I like that it means I am putting less into landfill.
You can buy handles to put around cups that don't have handles. I think they're worth the $4 or $5 the added handle costs for the convenience of having a handle on your cup. It just slips around your cup. Perfect for my cup I bought on clearance for $8 at half price. Keeps cold really well. Haven't tried hot yet.
Testing with lid off not good. My coffee comes out of my pot and nice and hot. You get 4 10oz cups of coffee last full work day. Don't use straw for hot. Take straw out and slide mid bar over for drinking slot.
MIKE!!! I AM SO JEALOUS Of your DT cup!! I’ve been rocking a 711 Big Gulp cup for years! Thanks for making me Normalish! We’re styling now!
When I worked as a rural letter Carrier I used the Ozark Trail brand lg tumbler because I could fill with ice and water, refill with water a couple times before the ice melted, saving several stops a day for ice. PS Ozark Trails mugs were much less to purchase vs yeti, their only real competition at the time.
Love it you need to go into show biz. I wouldn't pay 5 dollars for any cup. I guess I am frugal or just plain cheap. Love you both. Stay warm and stay safe.
I love stainless steel tumblers. I buy different ones from different sellers. I even bought and Igloo tumbler and it was my least favorite. Most of mine in the past came from QVC and I bought them by the set of four. This past Christmas 2023 I tried something new. My daughter makes and sells tumblers, so I bought a case of blanks from Amazon (which came with everything they needed) I then went onto Etsy and bought designs which I downloaded to my computer. I had my daughter make tumblers for my family and each one was tailored to each individual. These tumblers cost me less than $20 each and they are amazing. I was able to give my friends and family very personal gifts that will keep on giving all year.
I have 2 Stanley cups, I got them as gifts..I do like them better. Im usually a Yeti gal...But I LOVE MY STANLEYS...I love them because ice and drinks do last longer than typical cups..I have had many of every brand..and I love the colors...to each their own though
Me too, keeps my water cold and fits in the car cup holder 🤗
I have just ordered a dupe of Temu for under £3. Would never pay those stupid prices.
My $10 walmart ozark trail 30 oz tumbler works just fine, thank you 😂
About spit out my canned drink. The only con is that expensive STANLEY does not work against spills! That is a DEAL BREAKER for me. I can't stand clean up.
The handle is nice for moms juggling little ones and everyone’s crap, BUT so many other cheaper options out there! TAL being one of them!
My friend bought me a cup from Temu , I love it and it has sunflowers on it. It cost about 5 dollars and I love it. Love you Hair !
Mike, I thought the same thing. The hockey award.
Once again this proves the old saying " A fool and his money are soon parted ! "
The reusable water bottles I have cost nowhere near the price of these fancy cups. The one I use the most was about $5. I do have a Stanley food thermos. If I remember right I bought it around 10 years ago for about $25.
I can’t help thinking that moms put alcohol in them😂
I saved a fortune taking coffee in a contigo thermos in my bag. Doesn’t leak. Works great. Lasts years 👍
P.T. Barnum said it best! 😉🤣🤣🤣
I totally get it keeping your water cold. We are supposed to drink about 60 ounces a day. I am one that likes cold water not warm. During the night my mouth will dry out at times and I want to be able to have cold water by my bed. I use a cpap and having water near by is nice. Yet my think is I have knock off brands and they were 20 dollar cups and did the same thing as stanley. so that is my argument is why pay so much for cups like that when there are many on the market that are cheaper.
I’ve had a Stanley Thermos forever! It is the best, but it’s the old Stanley green. I don’t want nor do I need a Stanley cup. My thermos has a handle and the lid is also a cup to drink my coffee out of.the new Stanley cup doesn’t have that!
That was so great! I hope you do more "plays" often! Mike your acting was awesome. So funny
So cute 😅
Walmart sells a cup that is the same thing, Ozark trail brand and I have the Yeti, which is an expensive brand comparable with the Stanley, and I have done tests to compare and the Walmart brand performed identically. The Wal-Mart brand is $10. I can see if you want the insulated cup to take with you. I don't drink fast, I just sip through the day, but don't fall for the hype, get the cheap one.
"Doctor, whats wrong with my wrists it hurts?" 😅 Doctor shakes his head, but then realizes he can bill for this "Stanley wrist syndrome".
The Stanley cups are ridiculous. Starbucks are expensive too! I refuse to buy them.
I think the color is part of the hype. I have other stainless steel tumblers that I use for cold drinks and hot drinks. I do have a different pink stainless steel mug that I purchased years ago from another country and it is a Starbucks item. It was a special purchase just for me that I saved up for and it’s personalized and it was less money then that Stanley one.
Lol... I bought a 40 oz cup similar to the Stanley cup around 4 years ago. It's a Reduce brand. It was before these cups were a "thing. It was during covid and was on sale at Kroger for around $17, I think?Anyway, I am still using it and the only thing I needed to replace has been the straw. It's been awesome and works like a charm. I use it everyday and take it everywhere! 😂
I like to have water on my nightstand because I get thirsty during the night. I figured it was better than buying bottled water all the time.
It's for the same reason people stand in line to pay 1000 for the new IPhone. Or have a car that cost as much as a house. It's a status symbol.
hahahaha - I have an owala that I bought on sale, love the functionality and didn't buy it because of any marketing scheme. I like the way the straw is designed because I don't like the straw sticking up out of the lid. When it's closed, I can throw it in my bag (or anywhere else) and it does not leak, at all. It does NOT fit well in my car cup holder but I love it all the same.
I go to Quiktrip and refill my Quiktrip cup 15 times a week.
Give it a year the thrift stores will be full them.
I was thinking the same thing!
Got to say hats off to the marketing guy's. Bonus points you get automatic workout with those extra two pounds you have to carry around. Will just stick with my stainless steel cup from Goodwill. A dollar well spent.
Well said!
Didn’t know it was a thing till Christmas 🙄guess I don’t watch enough social media 😵💫 As a Floridian I do appreciate keeping a drink cold. A thermos with a lid will still have ice when I come back to my car. I’m going to plug my Venice,Florida actually made local Tervis Tumbler. A life time warranty means if your cup is damaged you bring it back and they send you a new one no questions asked. I used to get them at B B &B with a 40% off coupon. All this foolishness reminds of Dr Seuss and his star belly sneetches
