  • Rabies is a deadly disease in many parts of Africa. But it is entirely preventable through vaccination. Vaccination protects dogs and stops them from spreading the disease to other animals - or worse, to people.
Epidemiological models have repeatedly shown that it is economically viable to vaccinate dogs rather than treating infected cases. A dog vaccination costs USD 2, while treating a human costs around USD 85.

Cyprus is a rabies-free country. This map is incorrect.

So is there a study that compares the transmission rates with and without the shot?

This map is incorrect! Croatia is clearly in light red, but rabies are not been notified in the country since 1977 in wild fox , while you have some yelow country like Uk 2012 Germany 2006 Austria 2004 etc
And CDC and European helth organisation consider Croatia free and safe.

Uk case in 2012 was caused by a bite from a dog while a British woman was on holiday in South Asia. She returned home and it was then discovered she had contracted the virus. No rabies has been contracted IN the UK since 1902
