I'm a Gator fan so of course I wanted them to win but they fought their hearts out even though they lost. Alabama and their recruiting is just so good year in and year out you almost expect to lose, but for the second straight year we gave ourselves a chance. Great game from two great programs.

Yea, while other ones like Clemson can lose outright and everyone just makes excuses like "they didn't have so-and-so playing", as if Bama is always playing 100% healthy every game.
Texas in 09 is always a fun example too. Colt McCoy shows up, 100% healthy, and gets put out of the game in a completely clean play... then all we hear for years after is "They only lost because Colt's shoulder got hurt". Meanwhile, McElroy was in for the whole game with a broken rib and nobody cares.
Yeah. That's what happens when the majority of fans are super low on Florida going into this year and high on Bama.

The missed extra point bit Florida in the butt. Make that and end of game you're kicking an extra point for OT vs trying a 2pt conversion. The defensive stop too and Florida ending up scoring really changed momentum. Game looked to be a blowout after Alabama was up 21-3 after 1st quarter but Florida's D stepped up.
Reminds me of the good days when Gators and Bama played in the S.E.C. WONDERFUL GAME.

1) In Alabama’s second drive. They wrongly called PI on the 3rd & 7. Should’ve been FL ball, instead, Bama scored a TD.
2) AR15 didn’t play. That could’ve made the difference.
3) That early missed PAT ended up costing us the game. Forcing us to go for 2 at the end.
4) If we can manage to beat Georgia. We could be contenders again this season.
Let's not forget...Brenton Cox's easy dropped INT. Mullen throwing the ball instead of sticking to the run which was killing bama. Or Sitting Pierce when he should've been in for Wright. Although Wright is good, he's still not ready. You can see he was surprised to be that open when he broke through their D-line. It's like he got slower...smh

And the reason they needed the 2 point conversion was because of Howard's miss. Missing an extra point where everything else goes right (snap and hold) is pretty unforgiveable IMHO.

This game was a perfect microcosm of the entire season for Alabama. No consistency, and no ability to maintain focus for entire games. Even in the blowout win against Miami, we lost the second half. Not sure what it was, but once other teams got momentum on us, we struggled to squash it. Florida, Arkansas, Auburn, Texas A&M, etc.
Gators missed a Golden chance
They blew it with stupid calls. Like going for a 2 point conversion up the middle against the allstar front of Alabama. Should have done a sweep left or right run or throw option to the speedy running back that scored on the previous drive. And should have done more play action throws to the running backs. Stupid decision making cost the Gators big.
I'm an Alabama fan, but you guys were blowing the Alabama front 7 of the line the whole game. I didn't think it was a bad call personally. Though, I suppose any call that doesn't work isn't a good one..

...Hearing a lot of talk about the officiating crew. Where did they find these clowns...tons of calls missed on both sides of the ball. This crew was a picture of confusion. Hell, it took them over a minute to figure out that the game clock was wrong in the 4th QTR.
They came from Dothan,, and the referees beat Florida, not Alabama.

The middle of the D was shaky yesterday. I'm not sure the new #10 is better than last years #10(@ least he popped on STs). Would it kill our team to let Shawn Lee ever get a snap again? The Safeties were awful. Wright is better than Hellams & Battle.

Alabama has had the top recruiting class in the country for like 10 yrs straight and when they weren't #1 they were #2 so they get the best players at every position. That's the equivalent of an NFL coach getting 25 first round draft picks for 10 yrs in a row so you shouldn't ever lose a game. If you look at the SEC championship game last yr, Florida only lost by 6 points which was the only game and team that Alabama played where the game was close and this yr they lost by 2. I think Dan Mullen does a better job than Saban in the development of players cause he gets 4 star players but he gets just as many 3 star players and even sent a 2 star Quarterback to the league (Kyle Trask). Saban mainly gets players who are already developed and are the best players on their teams, the state, their positions or all of the above. What Saban does in college could never be duplicated in the NFL cause in the NFL you have to draft and trade for the players you want as opposed to cherry picking them like he does now but he already knows that with his short unsuccessfull NFL tenure with the Miami Dolphins.
Florida has had top 10 classes for a decade. No need to pretend like they're playing walkons while Bama has 5 stars everywhere. UF OLine and Dline is all seniors, too. That helps.
@@marktastic86 First of all a top 10 class doesn't compare to number one classes for 10 plus yrs. Every single year if you did your research you would know that for at least the last 6 yrs since at least 2016, Florida has lost at least 4-5 players from every class due to medical hardship, transfer or kicked off the team so those final rankings aren't the least bit accurate. Alabama rarely has any attrition, once a recruit picks Alabama, it's a very rare occasion that they don't stick with that commitment. The fact is, if you get the best of the best every single yr at every single position then you're supposed to win, it doesn't even really matter who the coaches are cause if you haven't noticed, it doesn't matter who they hire or who leaves cause great players make average coaches look good.

Many highly rated recruits have transferred out or sustain injury just like any other program. Alabama has players that leave through transfers but not as many as most schools. So how many recruits commit to Alabama on a yearly basis and decommit or flip to another school on a yearly basis? I'll wait...My original comment was that Dan Mullen gets just as many 4 star recruits as 3 star recruits and most recruiting sites had Kyle Trask listed as a 2 star Quarterback coming outta high school who never started a game but he got developed at Fla and was a second round draft pick. Do you know how many 5 star players coming out of high school that Saban has signed since Dan Mullen became head coach at Florida since 2018? At least 20, you know how many Dan Mullen has signed? 1 and that was Jason Marshall from the 2021 class. The other 5 stars were former 5 stars who transferred in: Justin Shorter, DeMarcus Bowman and Lorenzo Lingard and that's it so no Florida doesn't has nowhere near the caliber of talent that Bama has. The only teams that come close are Georgia and maybe Ohio State but Georgia is the closest talent wise. Imma break it down to you like this. With AR’s big play ability using his legs, it’s Louisville Lamar-esk with Cam Newton mixed in. Not a lot of players, YET ALONE QBs can put that type of stress on a defensive. It’s a homerun ability that only certain players have. How many QBs have we seen have 2 runs of 70+ yards in a season? Yet alone in one game. That’s RARE. It may occasionally, but not the way we’ve seen Lamar, Cam, AR, dual threats with that ability. We saw that Florida can run the ball at will. Now just imagine. Picture it, AR’s big play ability with that speed and size, combined with the run game they had. Not to mention, he can hit the deep ball, and even improvise to extend plays and find the open guy. We’ve seen him do this. Emory did a great job running the offense for the most part. Esp. in the second half. We don’t know if AR could’ve ran the offense as smoothly, but when he has played thus far, it has been smoother with him in than Emory. Now can he do it for 4 quarters? We’ve yet to see it bc Dan Mullen hasn’t given him the chance to. But that’s why as a fan of UF, you can only wonder what if? Cause we won’t know until he’s given the chance. We’ve seen what he’s capable. AR has that extra gear. Had he been able to play, there’s no doubt in my mind he could’ve had a great impact on that game. If Malik Davis was able to break a few runs on Bama, AR could’ve definitely done more damage. The possession before halftime resulted in a punt. If AR gets that possession instead, knowing they needed points going into the half, could’ve had an instant impact on the game right then and there.

I'm not a fan of coach Saban's passive attitude after this game. I know games we were up 4 touchdowns at the half and play a nearly perfect game and still find something to complain about. Where is that fire for perfection? Being the best you that you can possibly be. This feels like complacency. Probably would've been better for Alabama to lose this game
