  • Bach closes the cantata in an exciting four-part fugue with a stately chromatic subject and a running countersubject. There is some loose resemblance with his Fugue in A-flat major from WTC 2.
    The bass octaves toward the end are optional.

    Very beautiful, Ruoshi. I love the octave doubling at the end, for a grand conclusion!

      I originally wanted to start doubling at the final subject (b.68), but the first beat in b.70 would be problematic, unless I drop a few notes from the middle voice. I will have to try it out.

      Perhaps for some people, but I am confident this is playable. I can sightread it comfortably at 70% of the tempo. I think I can reach 90% tempo with a lot of practice.
      If you are comparing with all the recent performances that seem to be competing for the fastest world record, then I agree that tempo (almost 150%) would be too fast for a piano soloist.
