Caroline Smith has stepped away from the Goodnight Sleeps in both name and style, opting for a more soulful direction. Her vocal control is astonishing; ranging from sultry swoons to passionate growls, she executes runs with ease. Sassy background vocalists, Hannah and Ayo, aid in Doo-wop fashion complete with choreographed side-stepping. Swagging bass lines, rim shots, and high hat chomps guide her potent lyricism with a 60’s style organ.

Saw them in person in North Bennington Vermont awhile ago. Small old mill space venue, sat fifteen feet away, just awesome. Been listening ever since.

whoops, i humbly submit to you, out of her various incarnations... this is the best one: where everything feels, looks and sounds balanced, and flowing. only change i would make is using more analog: acoustic piano, and real hammond B3 w/ leslie, to rock the gospel and soul just a little harder, in a motown sort of way... ....you won't regret it...., because full-bore, pure retro suits her so well! may take awhile, but i think the shut-down has certainly whetted the appetite to get down ... and it's right here, loud and clear!!

So how have I missed this since 2013? You need to do Drive Me by M2maria. Right up your alley in my ignorant opinion.
My question is:
Why doesn't the album sounds exactly like this? Pop sound like album... sounds nothing like the awesome band in this video. Props to Audiotree live! Wow!
I see this happen a lot. Someone is fabulous live, and they get in the studio and get produced to hell. Heather Maloney is a prime example.
Because sometimes less is more. Especially in post production
It happens to EVERY band that goes to Audiotree... their live sessions simply crushes the producers out there.

I've watched many of these AudioTree videos and does this "host" only talk about food with the guests- egads! First, it was Maybe April, now its poor (awesome) Caroline Smith? What's the trip about food? It's about the music right? And the music is amazing!
