    UPDATE: This lasted about 3 weeks, it doesn’t help that the bike was in the humid garage but the adhesive starts to drip off the gray tape, it got on the frame and other areas. pretty strange EDIT: I ended up JB welding the tank and it works perfect again

    • @toddjackson3136
      @toddjackson3136 Před 5 lety +6

      The adhesive is solvent based. The fuel is slowly softening it and it's dripping as it disolves.

    SealsAll (Yellow tube for Gas&Oil) works excellently on fuel tank leaks, and costs around $5, at almost any store that has a hardware department.

    I tried that today… It will not hold on plastic, once that gas hits it… Why in the hell would a company put a plastic gas tank on a car… Literally no different than a gas tank you can get out of a store.
    After watching a guys video using a soldering tool, I went and got my soldering tool to melt the plastic back closed after cleaning the surface and stopping the leak from flowing. It was absolutely genius. I then melted some scrap plastic into the gas that field everything up and I sanded down the entire area after it cooled off and that’s that.

    so I have a question. I have dry rotted cracks on my go kart tires which leak air through them, since they still have lots of rubber left to wear down I'm going to try and save them. bought a can of flex seal,thinking of taking tires off rims, coat the inside of tires w it,let it cure properly,then see if it will hold air. thinking it should. What's your guys opinion? do u think it will hold? has anyone ever tried this. the cracks aren't too dramatic, but enough to not allow air to hold. hope someone has tried this before or knows if it will.thanks for reading this btw

    I wrote a letter to Flex Tape about a small leak in the bottom of my De-greasing Tank to wash parts here in my shop on the farm. The cleaning solvent I use, in the tank, is Diesel Fuel. They said the fuel will eventually work through the glue on the tape and start to leak again. They do not recommend this type repair. Dylon made this repair in July 2018, it is now April 2019, is the repair still holding?
