The Painted Deck has a lot of disadvantages on higher stakes. Fewer Joker slots makes it harder for you to score enough points (and harder for you to hold on to money Jokers). On top of that, less access to Booster Packs makes it harder to get scoring from non-Joker sources.
However, the +2 Hand Size can be a huge boon as well. With the Painted Deck, you should be reaching for the higher scoring, higher value hands such as Straights and Full Houses which are not typically viable on the higher stakes.

Jokers like the flower pot make me wish there was an option to "put aside" cards. So they don't get reshuffled with the rest of your hand when you draw new ones.

Just made a suggestion to disable automatic hand sorting yesterday, though for a different reason - my shoot the baron run was so annoying to micromanage because queens always go after the kings when I play/discard, lol
Would love a pin button that basically lets you pin the position of the selected cards to the left of your hand and the rest will shuffle according to how you have your hand preference set.
I want a joker that draws all of a type of card, kinda like idol.
I recently did a flower pot/straights gold stake run, and this video made me remember how much that run made my head hurt. It’s effective but at what cost..

I really like using the incrementing jokers like Ride the Bus, Square Joker, etc; I just enjoy seeing the number go up. Wee joker is probably my favorite of these since you can adjust your deck over time to really make it pop and it can stack up in a hurry if you get enough 2's. Seeing you get a foil Wee Joker super early was a really fun start! Nice win!
It's really fun that you can lean into it. Not only do the numbers go up, but the numbers go up faster as you have more and more 2's in your deck. Also, it's pretty neat that you can play certain hands/cards to "level up" and still play entirely different hands to score.
Poor guy hates the flower pot, but it always seems to follow him around!
I feel like the reward for doing the flower pot should be bigger, given the difficulty and incompatibility with the standard strategies. A boost to 4 xmult would be both thematic and also probably rewarding enough to make the hassle worth it.

Your decks are so beautiful with 4 colors (1 for each suit)! How can I unlock that? Really appreciate your videos btw, been watching daily, keep it up!
It's in the settings I think it's called suit contrast and just turn that on
last shop, Abstract would've given +18 which is more than +16 of mid Straights, but less than +24 of low Straights
Great content, but one question that left me scratching my head:
The first hand vs Crimson Heart, wasnt the 10 9 8 7 6 Straight with the Flower Pot disabled a great hand to work both as ok scoring and pseudo discard to help finding the better cards for the next turn?
I can't tell if you had forgotten that Aces can be used in low straights or not.
Edit: looks like that was only early on? There were a few hands where you tossed aces when you had an A-5 straight available
Was trying to get Flower Pot value, sometimes throwing away Straights to try to get better Straights. Probably misplayed a bunch of times. I don't have a lot of hours on Flower Pot.
47:20 is a good example of that- had A-5 with Ace of Diamonds while looking for hearts and diamonds, found a heart but threw away the diamond

Painted deck is such a fun high stake deck... when it works lol
4 Joker slots means the high card builds other decks default to just don't work outside of highrolls, and +2 hand size makes the interesting hand types so much more versatile - you can actually make hands now
Makes me wish gold stake was -1 Joker slot rather than -1 Hand Size (maybe too brutal though lol)
Maybe it's a little disappointing you can't always play every hand on every deck, but you do get to make some hands more viable by playing different decks, which I think is kind of fun still. Abandoned Deck and Painted Deck for Full Houses and Straights. Checkered Deck for Flushes. Four of a Kind on Erratic Deck. Even Red Deck and Blue Deck support Straights well enough, but no one cares to play those decks.
@@drspectred Oh for sure, I think people do overstate how little variance there is at high stake and there are situations for a lot of different builds to be optimal on just about all decks. I just don't like how, in spite of that about 70% of the time the best, most consistent option at gold stake for most decks ends up being playing a very granular high card idea.
I like painted (and abandoned, although to a slightly lesser extent) because they set that 70% down to something much more reasonable. Feels like you want to figure out a gameplan on the fly much more often, which I really appreciate.
Had a cheeky Hack+Blueprint+Seltzer+Wee run earlier today. Got that card up to 800+ chips before cracking my obelisk and ending

flower pot is not exactly like the straight flush requirerment. in the SF you have to match 5, in the pot you only need to match 4.
SF are much easier with deck manipulation tho.
With painted deck i managed to get my current high score of 60-ish billion in witch i went from a jalf joker deck to baron, mime, mary andy, and blueprint. (I have no clue how i won)
