Evidently, West Virginia is the same as Britain. When you're on a narrow back road, and you're in the older, less expensive car, you're expected to put your car in a ditch so that the other person doesn't have to get any low-class filth on their car.

I live in Texas and the city just built a brand new large roundabout just down the street from where I live. Drivers have adjusted well, and it is much more efficient than having a four-way stop sign or traffic light. I think that roundabouts are becoming more common here.

They're so much safer as well. you can't blow through a roundabout like you can a stop sign

They're popping up a lot here in Florida too, and boy are a lot of people mad. But they have been proven to be much safer than 4 way stops and they are more efficient as long as people actually follow the rules, some people just hate change.

My wife and I just came back from a week long trip to Ireland. As Americans, I've driven hours and hours in the UK and now the Republic of Ireland. I try and try to get my wife to give it a go, and she never has. Her job is to scream and yell at me for not making the correct turn, or for driving too close to the ditch on our left. Thank god they had Guinness.

I live in Indiana, and they have been building roundabouts for the past ten years or so. But they are not as confusing as the ones in the UK.

7:16 This reminds me of a scene in "National Lampoon's European Vacation" when they were driving around on a roundabout, and they couldn't get to the left so they kept going around the roundabout.

We do have round abouts. Just down the road where i live they took out a four way stop and put in a round about. I much prefer the round abouts

Our biggest issue in driving in the UK (we are currently in Scotland and England for three months), is when pulling up to exit a car park or at an intersection, is looking to the right always as that is the first lane of traffic that will be coming at you as you decide what to do. So when we say look left, right, left in the U.S., but in the UK, you need to always look right last as it is the lane that is approaching whether you are going across the road or turning right or left into the lane. The other thing, especially in Scotland, but England as well, the hedgerows often block views when heading towards blind curves, so literally you have to slow down or even honk to warn a driver from the opposite direction as the roads are so narrow. S9me people just whip around these corners, even the ones with Land Rovers which are quite big for the narrow roads. Uphill/ downhill-etiquette says the driver going uphill should back down to let the driver going downhill pass. We once had an encounter with a middle aged woman in her Jaguar not budge and therefore, we had to back uphill on a narrow mountain road to a pullout; otherwise, nobody was going anywhere. Female drivers in Scotland, especially the wealthier drivers, were quite rude in their insistence they always had the right of way. BTW, roundabouts (or what we call rotaries) are quite common in New England. We have four in our small town with more coming. They really do keep the traffic moving.

Driving on the other side of the road doesn't take all that long to get use to IMO. But it is an adjustment. I've been to Bermuda twice which is a UK territory, and they drive on the left side of the road.
Both times I rented a moped just to explore the island and it wasn't a big deal. It gets a little confusing the first time you run into a round-a-bout though.
We don't really use that design very often on American roads though so they're kinda weird even here when I run into one.

I lived in England for 5 years, I had a driver's license before going there, but only really learned to drive while in the UK. Americans aren't trained very well compared.

Look kids, big ben.... parliament.... Saw A video on YT while ago explaining why America has different road signs than what European countries adopted.. from what it said, America came to European countries back in the day, said we should have all road signs the same and simple in all countries.. Europe came back with ideas, America basically said, never mind, we will do our own thing.. except the Stop sign was adopted to look the same

My 1st car was a "stick" shift, UGH. As a petite woman, I had a heck of a time reaching the clutch. Took almost a week to learn to drive my stick shift car and feel comfortable enough to drive it. Hated it though. Never again. My petite butt has driven an automatic since, cushion in hand to see over the steering wheel, 🤣🤣🤣
