Chris Butcher was my Commander during our tour of Iraq. He was a TOP bloke. Unfortunately he committed suicide some years back, I never knew he was in this and only clicked this link at random. I almost cried seeing him again. RIP brother.

It’s easy to see how one mistake can result in a loss of life. Lucky this wasn’t case here. You’re tired, under pressure & worried. The fog of war I guess.
Not just tired but at night with a number of trucks in front kicking up so much dust that you can't see 15 ft. This happens more often then the military admits. You don't know you made a wrong turn until there isn't any dust or trucks in front of you. They did the right thing they stopped right away tried to turn around to get back on track rather then finding their own way back. This decision allowed their QRF to find them quickly.

A nephew of a friend of mine was involved in an incident in Afghanistan a few years back. A Taliban managed to infiltrate the camp in which the nephew was based, one night while the guys were sleeping. The Taliban succeeded in killing two British troops before the nephew managed to grab his weapon and shoot him dead. On returning home on leave, all seemed well enough, the lad having had some counselling. However, he unfortunately took his own life while alone in his accommodation. The incident clearly played on his mind.
My friend from Canada did the same thing

i remember this moment very well,our squad was deployed to clear and protect the route,this drivers started their movement at around 3pm from Camp Bastion where they simply enjoyed their life,they were not tired at all when they passed this road at around 3am(but by plan it had to be around 8pm,but they have manage to ruin a few vechicles in the open desert!!!)but only because of their poor skills they had this situation. we had to protect them and help them to get out from there for almost 2 days,and believe me we were mo tired than this drivers as you show

Northern Irish are always laid back in difficult situations, we always enjoy the craic, talk far to much at times but in a way it keeps the people around us calm and less likely to panic. Kudos to the four young troops who held it together very well in a scary situation. Brits & Irish top class, prefer these Documentaries to US ones, they are hyped up n over dramatised. 🇬🇧

A really good documentary going to show how one F up can cost lives. Loads of bad drills along with the good ones. As for the experance soldier leaving his inexperanes solders behind. That's exactly what Scott of the Antarctic did to get all of his boys back alive however, I would have gone back out with the FP as he knew the ground to get them. The camera teams don't always give the full story. Well done to all, just don't me mention drivers hours!

She will be okay. This video isn't recent. Its atleast 5 years old. Most the fighting over there is done by the A.N.A. The only boots on the ground these days are advisors, cia and special forces units.
