I went up there cause I wanted to take photo of the stone tablet for the side quest. When I finally reach there, I suddenly recalled that is the stone tablet that fell to Lookout Landing. Face Palm moment.
That island stands over 3000 meters above sea level and the lowest point in the Depths is 2500 meters below sea level. The amount of verticality in this game is mind blowing.
I don't know if you've noticed, but bits of sky island seem to have a really low terminal velocity. Notice how you can stand on them and ride them all the way to the ground and they never fall fast enough to drop away from you (like lots of vehicles do if you cut the power for too long).
Terminal Velocity is 148mph which is about 216 feet per second. This means that Link traveled 5307 feet in 24.57 seconds. (give or take - diving reduces wind resistance and would make Link fall faster).
I remember getting all the way up here, thinking I needed it for the tablet, and then when I got up the tablet was missing and I was just standing there like, "bruh"
I got there from Sky Island. There’s a floating platform on there that I spent 20 rockets to get up to the highest height (I didn’t know you could use one at a time placed how you placed them, so I always did it in pairs one on each side), then more rockets to travel horizontally towards it, about half way there the floating platform disappeared. I autobuilt a glider to get the rest of the way, then ultimately had to paraglide the final bit. Probably took me 2 hours over several days to figure out how to get there. It’s a shame there was no reward but it was worth it for the challenge. Somehow looking out at the horizon from there was breathtaking. It was also twilight when I arrived so I got to watch the sun set. Moments like that are why I love this game. And yes I enjoyed the drop at the end too.
I have to admit rewards lack in this game. They could’ve at least put a chest with a special bow or something. Or a chest on every petal. Even a korok seed.
What a move that would be if after all that the only thing they put up there was a Korok 🤣 unless they also provide you with some rockets and time bombs.

It is easier to get there from the Great Sky Island. Travel to Nachoyah Shrine. Go outside the cave. Make a fan bike. Attach it to a glider. Slide off the launch rails and glide in the direction of that island. Once the glider expires and disappears, you’ll be left riding the fan bike to navigate to the island.
Thanks for sharing this video! I'd been trying to get up there myself to complete the Zonai text side quest. After my many failed attempts I would've been livid if I had to discover for myself that absolutely nothing was up there. I already had a suspicion that its Zonai text had crash landed into Outlook Landing, which is the only reason I gave up at some point.
I remember spending literally half an hour slowly making my way up to it to complete that one quest that has to do with them Only to realize I wasn't supposed to go to that one.
I got there a good while back and put a transport medallion there as with the flying squirrel suit, you can really cover a lot of distance from it, and it's helpful to drop right on top of some of the koroks.
I’m confused by people saying the tablet was already at LL…. I got up there and then crashed down with the tablet .. did I find a new story route by accident. Kinda like Sidon being surprised you’re at the domain in botw
I managed to get to the highest point using some floating brick found on a sky island and the hot air balloon, it's really splendid to see the wind temple below.
*Spoilers for endgame details* During my second playthrough I realized something kinda fun about this island; . . . . The Demon Dragon fight has you flying basically right below this island, close enough that I tried to fly to it but the Light Dragon kept "dragon" (heh) me back to finish the boss. Having this odd little flower petal island hovering right over the arena of your climactic endgame fight was a bit of a strange oversight, even if it makes logical sense that the pedestal in Lookout Landing would have had to have dropped from somewhere.
@@mholic486 From the cutscene it looked to me like the explosion was over Korok Forest. But likely still visible from literally anywhere in Hyrule Field. There absolutely should have been a crater left on the land in the endgame imo.
I was so pissed when I reached it and there was nothing there. I was going for another tablet (didn’t realize it was literally on the ground lol. I put a travel point there bc I was like I’m coming back here if I want… but then I had to move it for something more important. :(
I was doing the writings quest where I have to find all the stones from these islands. Not thinking about how it’s already in lookout landing, I used a hoverbike to get up there. Took way too long.
Unfortunately, I found this out while looking for the monuments and wasted multiple zonai charges and capsules to construct the device that could get me up there only to find out that the monument from there was the one in Lookout Landing and I felt so dumb for 3 days straight.
I'm confused, at 1:46 as you are paragliding down, behind you is another sky island above. Isn't that one higher than the flower shaped island you landed on?
smart of you to only use 1 rocket at the time a lot of people make the mistake of thinking more rockets = more thrust when 1 rocket gives the same amount of thrust as 5 rockets
Bruh I went up there looking for the tablets (cuz I was marking them and visiting them on my map), and was so mad when I realized that it had already fallen to Hyrule's surface
I spent way too much time getting up to it, and as soon as I almost made contact with it the game gave me a blood moon animation (it wasn't midnight) and it made me miss. Nintendo wins this round
I'll be honest I thought that sky island wasn't even real, like the developers just accidentally overlooked it when placing the tablets, the forgot to get rid of this sky island.

There is a purpose of getting there though, assuming you have a travel medallion, as you can set one there and have a auto-warp to the highest spot on the map. Now, if you make your way all the way up there before you unlock the travel medallions... then lol
I'm annoyed that they put it up so high without even some minor token acknowledgement if you get up there or they could have just put it lower so that you could get up there and realize there's nothing there. Like I understand that they probably didn't want you to visit it before the tablet is scripted to fall into Lookout Landing, but there had to be some other way. Actually this was the the worst approach I have seen. Next time create a hover bike and place a balloon with a flamethrower at the front. You will need to use one or two big energy cell.

It's a zonaite build, so attaching a steering stick lets you save it for Autobuild. Also it's a lot safer lol, I have lost unattached rockets by accidentally activating them with a weapon

It would have been cool if there was some more achievements for finding these things. For unlocking all of the light roots, korok seeds. etc. I love this game but it feels very desolate at times. With there being a ton to do with the zonai objects and exploring the depths and sky islands, it all feels very empty often. Even if there were more people or villages. It can few very empty and lonely.
No because each rocket lifts the floating platform very high up but using a fan only slightly moves the floating platform so if you use a fan it would take hours, good idea though

I was expecting a Korok up there. I have been conditioned to check the top of every peak, hill and mound on the map first.
The reward for getting every Korok isn't super worth it...

You can make the jump from this sky island to the Hyrule Castle Chasm so you can drop from the highest point to the lowest point

Also I used an airplane like the ones from goron mountain. Set one up at the top of the huge furnace island I think.

That was the floating platform i used
It's actually "cheaper" to use hot ballon and fire, you can re activate the fire to raise the platform than keep wasting rocket
I would work but it would take a long time because of how slow the ballon’s are
