- The boys and I have driven passed this abandoned gas station for years and it just keeps getting worse. It’s at a busy intersection so we said, “lets clean it up!” The BEST part about this story is that originally we had no idea who owned this property until we were mowing another yard just a few miles down the road and the neighbor told us that the reason this gas station has been sitting is because the owner got sick with cancer and wasn’t able to take care of it anymore. That made this job so much more impactful for us and really encourages us to keep doing what we are doing. It was a tough one, there was a ton of trash thrown in the tall grass (we filled up almost half of my truck bed with garbage we picked up). The grass has grown over the curb into the parking lot as well which was tough to get up but very satisfying when it was! We really appreciate all your support. This. Is. AMAZING! You could have stopped after the 'first pass' just to make the property no longer a 'nuisance violation' and called it good. And it would have been good. But you and your boys went not 1, but 2 'extra miles' and really turned an eyesore into something that blends in beautifully with the other properties across the street. Throw some pumps on the islands and open this bad boy back up for business!

Really enjoying the detective work people are doing and it keeps proving out helping people is needed. More than one person or a number of people working together in a video looks practical instead whole video focusing on one individual. I always doubted the possibility of accomplishing such tedious jobs by one person. Showing the other people working with you in your video makes sense as well as practical. GBY.

Great video, it is wonderful that you have your kids working along with you to teach them teamwork and helping others. I'm sure your arms were sore the next day after breaking all of the grass on the asphalt. So glad you were able to help the owner out, in a big way, while suffering cancer. My favorite pizza is either Ham or Canadian Bacon with Pineapple.

I like the same. I cut into a pineapple today. Normally, the ripe ones are sweet with a soft core that can be eaten. I should have waited another day or two before cutting it. This pineapple was acidic. The juice ended up burning my lips & biting my tongue.

I think cancer has affected everybody in some way. My Aunt died of stage 4 lung cancer (from smoking cigarettes) that spread to her brain. Good on you guys for having compassion on the property owner! Love these videos!

I wasn't going to subscribe until I saw your little man helping out. So proud of him for helping someone and taking care of the community. I was just talking to a friend the other day about how strange I find it that people are critical of those out there doing the work just to help someone, and passing judgement on those that they are helping. When I was growing up, it was just something people did for each other. If you had young men in the family it was expected that they would go to help with what ever they could. If we went fishing or hunting had a harvest we'd always share with others, some we knew needed it, others didn't, but we knew it was appreciated and blessed us more than it did them. You might have thought your neighbor was crazy, but you were kind. When you think of others you are building strength and character and making the world a place of JOY.

The two oldest boys looked so cute when they picked up the shovel to continue shoveling that dirt and grass when you dropped it but were not strong enough to lift the dirt. They got creative with the tools they had to dig, pound, and then rake when you returned. My favorite pizza is an all-meat pizza. I like Canadian bacon with pineapple on pizza too but not a fan of anything hot, especially jalapenos. The gas station looked almost brand new, excellent job fellas.

Thanks! At the time of the job the owner did not know and we have not had contact with them directly as of yet. With abandoned properties we try our best to find out who owns them. But most of the time we end up getting the story from a neighbor or someone close in the community 👍

You always do fantastic work and now you're into historical restoration, too....ps...my late husband and I always ordered pepperoni with jalapeno and pineapple on the side.
